Traditionally, the success of a researcher is assessed by the number of publications he or she publishes in peer-reviewed, indexed, high impact journals. This essential yardstick, often referred to as the impact of a specific researcher, is assessed through the use of various metrics. While researchers may be acquainted with such matrices, many do not know how to use them to enhance their careers. In addition to these metrics, a number of other factors should be taken into consideration to objectively evaluate a scientist＇s profile as a researcher and academician. Moreover, each metric has its own limitations that need to be considered when selecting an appropriate metric for evaluation. This paper provides a broad overview of the wide array of metrics currently in use in academia and research. Popular metrics are discussed and defined, including traditional metrics and article-level metrics, some of which are applied to researchers for a greater understanding of a particular concept, including varicocete that is the thematic area of this Special Issue of Asian Journal of Andrology. We recommend the combined use of quantitative and qualitative evaluation using judiciously selected metrics for a more objective assessment of scholarly output and research impact.

Wearable technologies have the potential to become a valuable influence on human daily life where they may enable observing the world in new ways,including,for example,using augmented reality(AR)applications.Wearable technology uses electronic devices that may be carried as accessories,clothes,or even embedded in the user's body.Although the potential benefits of smart wearables are numerous,their extensive and continual usage creates several privacy concerns and tricky information security challenges.In this paper,we present a comprehensive survey of recent privacy-preserving big data analytics applications based on wearable sensors.We highlight the fundamental features of security and privacy for wearable device applications.Then,we examine the utilization of deep learning algorithms with cryptography and determine their usability for wearable sensors.We also present a case study on privacy-preserving machine learning techniques.Herein,we theoretically and empirically evaluate the privacy-preserving deep learning framework's performance.We explain the implementation details of a case study of a secure prediction service using the convolutional neural network(CNN)model and the Cheon-kim-kim-Song(CHKS)homomorphic encryption algorithm.Finally,we explore the obstacles and gaps in the deployment of practical real-world applications.Following a comprehensive overview,we identify the most important obstacles that must be overcome and discuss some interesting future research directions.

This paper analyzes the possible influence of boreal winter Arctic Oscillation/North Atlantic Oscillation （AO/ NAO） on the Indian Ocean upper ocean heat content in summer as well as the summer monsoonal circulation. The strong interannual co-variation between winter 1000-hPa geopotential height in the Northern Hemisphere and sum- mer ocean heat content in the uppermost 120 m over the tropical Indian Ocean was investigated by a singular decom- position analysis for the period 1979-2014. The second paired-modes explain 23.8% of the squared covariance, and reveal an AO/NAO pattern over the North Atlantic and a warming upper ocean in the western tropical Indian Ocean. The positive upper ocean heat content enhances evaporation and convection, and results in an anomalous meridional circulation with ascending motion over 5°S-5°N and descending over 15°-25°N. Correspondingly, in the lower tro- posphere, significantly anomalous northerly winds appear over the western Indian Ocean north of the equator, imply- ing a weaker summer monsoon circulation. The off-equator oceanic Rossby wave plays a key role in linking the AO/NAO and the summer heat content anomalies. In boreal winter, a positive AO/NAO triggers a down-welling Rossby wave in the central tropical Indian Ocean through the atmospheric teleconnection. As the Rossby wave ar- rives in the western Indian Ocean in summer, it results in anomalous upper ocean heating near the equator mainly through the meridional advection. The AO/NAO-forced Rossby wave and the resultant upper ocean warming are well reproduced by an ocean circulation model. The winter AO/NAO could be a potential season-lead driver of the sum- mer atmospheric circulation over the northwestern Indian Ocean.

自越南改革开放近十年来，由于融入和发展的需要，第二语言教学在越南大学越来越受到重视。越南庆和省高等院校中出现了“汉语热”。五年前，这里的汉语教学情况主要集中在外语中心。现在，除了外语中心之外，各所大学的汉语教学情况都在逐渐改变。越南庆和省十四所高等院校中，庆和大学和太平洋大学开设了汉语本科。太平洋大学的语言与文化系汉语本科于2017年就开设了，庆和大学的汉语本科于2022年开设的。另外，芽庄大学虽然没有汉语本科，但是汉语已经作为本科学生的外语选修课了。其他高校则开设了汉语兴趣班，吸引了越来越多的汉语学习者。　　大多数的越南汉语学习者注重“听”、“说”、“读”能力的提升，却忽略了“写”的能力培养，甚至有些学习者不愿意学汉字。因为越南汉语初学者认为汉字很难，难记、难写、难认。但汉字和汉语学习关系密切，不学汉字就学不到汉语的关键，更学不到汉语的精髓。所以对越南汉语学习者来说，汉字教学是一个难点，也是一个重点。　　为了有效提高学生对汉字学习的效果和教师汉字教学的质量，本论文在前人研究基础上，基于认知理论和二语习得理论确立了“以学生为主的集体授课”设计理念，在详细了解太平洋大学汉字课教学基本情况后，根据学习者的特点和汉语水平，集中对组织教学、新课导入、新课讲解、课上活动或课上回顾和课后测验这五个环节进行设计。　　本文探讨的初级阶段汉字课教学设计结合了笔者在汉语本科班的读写教学实践和外语选修班教学中的汉字教学实践，并将其应用于汉语初学者的课堂上。在一个阶段教学结束后，采用问卷调查和访谈的方式，考察和收集学生学习汉字的情况，对课程进行评估和分析，提出了一些改进和建议。　　本论文研究共分为五章：第一章、绪论;第二章、越南大学初级阶段汉字教学情况调查与教师访谈;第三章、越南大学初级阶段汉字课教学设计现状及存在的问题——以太平洋大学为例;第四章、越南大学初级阶段汉字课教学设计建议;第五章、结语。

Recommendation application for video head impulse test based on fuzzy logic control

Vestibulo-ocular reflex(VOR) is an important biological reflex that controls eye movement to ensure clear vision while the head is in motion.Nowadays,VOR measurement is commonly done with a video head impulse test based on a velocity gain algorithm or a position gain algorithm,in which velocity gain is a VOR calculation on head and eye velocity,whereas position gain is calculated from head and eye position.The aim of this work is first to compare the two algorithms' performance and to detect covert catch-up saccade,then to propose a stand-alone recommendation application for the patient's diagnosis.In the first experiment,for ipsilesional and contralesional sides,the calculated position gain(0.94±0.17) is higher than velocity gain(0.84±0.19).Moreover,gain asymmetry of both lesion and intact sides using velocity gain is mostly higher than that from using position gain(four out of five subjects).Consequently,for subjects who have unilateral vestibular neuritis diagnosed from clinical symptoms and a vestibular function test,vestibular weakness is depicted by velocity gain much better than by position gain.Covert catch-up saccade and position gain then are used as inputs for recommendation applications.

Lithium-sulfur battery has become one of the most promising candidates for next generation batteries, and it is still restricted due to the low sulfur conductivity, large volume expansion and severe polysulfide shuttling. Herein, we present a novel hybrid electrode with a ternary nanomaterial based on sulfur-impregnated multiwalled carbon nanotubes filled with ordered tin-monoxide nanoparticles （MWCNT-SnO/S）. Using a dry plasma reduction method, a mechanically robust material is prepared as a cathode host material for lithium-sulfur batteries. The MWCNT-SnO/S electrode exhibits high conductivity, good ability to capture polysulfides, and small volume change during a repeated charge-discharge process. In situ transmission electron microscopy and ultraviolet-visible absorption results indicate that the MWCNT-SnO host efficiently suppresses volume expansion during lithiation and reduces polysulfide dissolution into the electrolyte. Furthermore, the ordered SnO nanoparticles in the MWCNTs facilitate fast ion/electron transfer during the redox reactions by acting as connective links between the walls of the MWCNTs. The MWCNT-SnO/S cathode with a high sulfur content of 70 wt.% exhibits an initial discharge capacity of 1,682.4 mAh·g^-1 at 167.5 m·g^-1 （0.1 C rate） and retains a capacity of 530.1 mAh·g^-1 at 0.5 C after 1,000 cycles with nearly 100% Coulombic efficiency. Furthermore, the electrode exhibits the high capacity even at a high current rate of 20 C.

This study measured the yields of the radionuclides^(82)Sr,^(83(m+g))Sr,^(85m)Sr,^(85g)Sr,^(87m)Sr,^(81(g+0.976m))Rb,^(82m)Rb,^(83g)Rb,^(84(m+g))Rb,and^(86(m+g))Rb produced in^(nat)Sr(γ,xnyp)multiparticle reactions with bremsstrahlung end-point energies of 55,60,and 65 MeV.The bremsstrahlung radiation was generated using the 100-MeV electron linear accelerator at the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory,Korea,and the reaction yields were derived from the induced activitiesmeasured using off-lineγ-ray spectrometry.To obtain accurate experimental results,we performed the necessaryγ-ray interference corrections.The experimental results were compared with the theoretical predictions obtained using the TAlyS-1.95 statistical nuclear model code.The calculations were performed using six different level-density models to ascertain which model best fitted the experimental results.The dependence of the reaction yield on the incident bremsstrahlung energy and on the number of nucleons emitted by the photonuclear reactions was also investigated.

Based on the phenomenon of curvature-induced doping in graphene we propose a class of Peltier cooling devices, produced by geometrical effects, without gating. We show how a graphene nanorib- bon laid on an array of curved nano cylinders can be used to create a targeted and tunable cooling device. Using two different approaches, the Nonequilibrium Green＇s Function （NEGF） method and experimental inputs, we predict that the cooling kW/cm2, on par with the best known techniques power of such a device can approach the order of using standard superlattice structures. The structure proposed here helps pave the way toward designing graphene electronics which use geometry rather than gating to control devices.

Dark photons have been well motivated as strong candidates for dark force carriers and light dark matter in the sub-GeV mass range.Compared with collider experiments,fixed-target experiments provide a complementary approach to searching for dark photons,particularly in the lower mass range.We have studied the physics potential of the electron-on-target experiment based on the Shanghai SHINE facility,which provides 10 MHz single electron beam at 8 GeV energy.This analysis focuses on dark photons being produced via electron and nucleon interaction and then decays to dark matter candidates,which escape detection as missing momentum in the detector.This experiment takes advantage of using missing momentum to enhance signal versus background separation power.In this study,signal samples as a function of dark photon mass and an inclusive background sample with 2.5 billion events are simulated with GEANT4.For better background estimates,major rare background processes have also been simulated.This paper presents the experiment and detector design,signal and background simulations,analysis strategy,and the prospective study of the experiment sensitivity.With 9×10^(14) electron-on-target events(about three years running),this experiment is expected to rule out most of the sensitive regions predicted by popular dark photon models.
