The contribution of chemical compositions in terms of carbon equivalent value（CEV） on impending crack propagation during weld bead bend tests（WBBTs） was studied with five different high-strength lowalloy steel plates that underwent different rolling processes. The test showed that cracks developed at the weld joint, easily passed through the coarse-grain heat-affected zone（CGHAZ）, and finally were arrested within the heat-affected zone（HAZ）. An apparent decrease in the average crack length, which consequently indicated improvement in crack arrestability, was found with decreasing CEV. In addition,the relatively fine microstructure in the HAZ of low-CEV steel plates helped in preventing the crack from further propagation. Special emphasis was placed on the empirical expectation of critical CEV above which WBBT might fail.

The use a stabilized lithium structure as cathode material for batteries could be a fundamental alternative in the development of next-generation energy storage ***,the lithium structure severely limits battery life causes safety concerns due to the growth of lithium(Li)dendrites during rapid charge/discharge *** electrolytes,which are used in highdensity energy storage devices and avoid the instability of liquid electrolytes,can be a promising alternative for next-generation ***,poor lithium ion conductivity and structural defects at room temperature have been pointed out as *** this study,through the application of a low-dimensional graphene quantum dot(GQD)layer structure,stable operation characteristics were demonstrated based on Li^(+)ion conductivity and excellent electrochemical ***,the device based on the modified graphene quantum dots(GQDs)in solid state exhibited retention properties of 95.3%for 100 cycles at 0.5 C and room temperature(RT).Transmission electronmicroscopy analysis was performed to elucidate the Li^(+)ion action mechanism in the modified GQD/electrolyte *** low-dimensional structure of theGQD-based solid electrolyte has provided an important strategy for stably-scalable solid-state lithium battery applications at room *** was demonstrated that lithiated graphene quantum dots(Li-GQDs)inhibit the growth of Li dendrites by regulating the modified Li^(+)ion flux during charge/discharge cycling at current densities of 2.2–5.5 mA cm,acting as a modified Li diffusion heterointerface.A full Li GQDbased device was fabricated to demonstrate the practicality of the modified Li structure using the Li–GQD *** study indicates that the low-dimensional carbon structure in Li–GQDs can be an effective approach for stabilization of solid-state Li matrix architecture.

Background Comparative and comprehensive omics studies have recently been conducted to provide a comprehensive understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying ***,because these huge omics datasets often contain irrelevant information,editing strategies for summarizing and filtering the data are necessary prerequisite steps for identifying biomarkers of male ***,we attempted to integrate omics data from spermatozoa with normal and below-normal fertility from boars and bulls,including transcriptomic,proteomic,and metabolomic *** enrichment analysis was conducted and visualized using g:Profiler,Cytoscape,EnrichmentMap,and AutoAnnotation to determine fertility-related biological functions according to *** In particular,gamete production and protein biogenesis-associated pathways were enriched in bull spermatozoa with below-normal fertility,whereas mitochondrial-associated metabolic pathways were enriched in boar spermatozoa with normal *** results indicate that below-normal fertility may be determined by aberrant regulation of protein synthesis during spermatogenesis,and the modulation of reactive oxygen species generation to maintain capacitation and the acrosome reaction governs boar sperm *** Overall,this approach demonstrated that distinct molecular pathways drive sperm fertility in mammals in a species-dependent ***,we anticipate that searching for species-specific signaling pathways may aid in the discovery of fertility-related biomarkers within large omics datasets.

We study interval constants that are related to motions of the Sun and Moon, i.e., the Qi, Intercalation, Revolution and Crossing interval, in calendars affiliated with the Shoushi calendar （Shoushili）, such as Datongli and Chiljeongsannaepyeon. It is known that these interval constants were newly introduced in the Shoushili calendar and revised afterward, except for the Qi interval constant, and the revised values were adopted in later calendars affiliated with the Shoushili. We first investigate the accu- racy of these interval constants and then the accuracy of calendars affiliated with the Shoushili in terms of these constants by comparing times for the new moon and the maximum solar eclipse calculated by each calendar with modem methods of calcula- tion. During our study, we found that the Qi and Intercalation interval constants used in the early Shoushili were well determined, whereas the Revolution and Crossing interval constants were relatively poorly measured. We also found that the interval constants used by the early Shoushili were better than those of the later one, and hence better than those of Datongli and Chiljeongsannaepyeon. On the other hand, we found that the early Shoushili is, in general, a worse calendar than Datongli for use in China but a better one than Chiljeongsannaepyeon for use in Korea in terms of times for the new moon and when a solar eclipse occurs, at least for the period 1281 - 1644. Finally, we verified that the times for sunrise and sunset in the Shoushili-Li-Cheng and Mingshi are those at Beijing and Nanjing, respectively.

Objective： To investigate whether the dried root of Phellodendron amurense Ruprecht（Phellodendri cortex; PC） extract improves arthritic symptoms through anti-inflammatory and immune-modulatory effects in collagen-induced arthritis in mice. Methods： Rheumatoid arthritis（RA） was induced in male DBA/1 mice by immunization with type Ⅱ collagen（ColⅡ）. CIA mice were divided into 5 groups（n=10 per a group） with normal, CIA control, PC extract（50 mg/kg and 100 mg/kg）-treated, and meloxicam（50 mg/kg）-treated as the reference drug. The PC extract or meloxicam were administered orally in CIA mice once a day for 14 days after arthritis induction. Arthritic score, levels of anti-ColⅡ IgG2a antibody, prostaglandin E2（PGE2）, tumor necrosis factor（TNF）-α, and interleuki.（IL）-17 in the sera of CIA mice were measured. Histopathological changes in the ankle joints of CIA mice were also analyzed by staining with hematoxylin and eosin（H and E）, safranin-O and immunohistochemistry using anti-TNF-α and anti-IL-17 antibodies. Results： The arthritic score was increased in CIA mice in a time-dependent manner, as were the serum levels of anti-ColⅡ IgG2a antibody, PGE2, TNF-α, and IL-17. However, the oral administration of PC extract at 50 and 100 mg/kg in CIA mice significantly decreased the arthritic scores, and the serum levels of anti-ColⅡ IgG2a, PGE2, TNF-α, and IL-17 compared with those in the CIA group（P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. Furthermore, histopathological improvement of the joint architecture in CIA mice was observed after administration of PC extract. PC extract also significantly inhibited the expression of TNF-α and IL-17 in the joints of CIA mice by suppressing the expression of their m RNA and proteins. Conclusion： PC extract may improve the pathological progression of RA through the inhibition of joint destruction by synovial inflammation and immune-stimulation, therefore, it would be a potential anti-arthritic agent in RA.

As the increasing number of Phasor Measurement Units(PMUs) are deployed, wide area protection in power systems has been gaining interest. In particular, fault detection, fault classification and fault area estimation are essential to reduce the damage of faults, and even prevent catastrophic cascades of failures. In this paper, we present a scheme for fault area estimation using PMUs and traveling wave theory. The purpose of this paper is to formulate a scheme for fault area estimation by calculating the approximate fault location based on traveling wave *** research has targeted at reliable operation of wide transmission system through the estimation of fault *** verify the suggested scheme, the various simulations are performed in practical Korean power transmission *** simulation results show that the proposed scheme has a good performance with high accuracy for estimating fault area.

The effect of drawing speed on temperature rise and microstructure distribution in twinning-induced plasticity(TWIP)steel during wire drawing has been investigated to improve drawability for wire rod *** wire drawing process is performed at room temperature,heat is generated due to the plastic deformation and friction at the wire-die *** steel wires subjected to the low drawing speed(LD)of 0.5 m/min and the high drawing speed(HD)of 5.0 m/min were analyzed using the numerical simulation and electron backscatter diffraction ***,the specimens subjected to the HD had a higher drawability by about 18%compared to the LD,which is totally different from the general behavior of plain carbon pearlitic *** LD wire had uniform temperature distribution along the radial direction during wire *** contrast,the HD wire had a temperature gradient along the radial direction due to the higher frictional effect at surface:the minimum temperature of 58℃ at center area and the maximum temperature of 143 C at surface *** higher stacki.g fault energy of HD wire at the surface area due to the high temperature rise retarded twinning rate,resulting in the prevention of fast exhaustion in ductility in comparison with the LD wires since the earlier depletion of twins at surface area is known as the main reason for the fracture of TWIP steel during wire ***,HD process delayed the fracture strain of wire and increased the uniformity of microstructure and mechanical properties along the radial direction.
