The landfailing processes of Typhoon"Haitang"near Lianjiang of Fujian Province of China from 00 UTC 19 to 12 UTC 20 July 2005 were reproduced by using the nesting non-hydrostatic WRF model and data assimilation technology (LevelⅡDoppler radar data of Changle of Fujian Province are assimilated to the simulation every one hour from 01 to 06 UTC 19 July 2005).The mesoscale structure and evolution of the typhoon before,during,and after its landfall were *** simulation data show that the assimilation exper- iment with the high temporal-and-spatial-resolution radar radial velocity and reflectivity data can produce much better simulation of the typhoon track,intensity evolution and landfalling location than the control experiment without assimilating radar *** using the assimilation experimental data,the mesoscale fine-mesh structure and evolution before and after typhoon landfall were analyzed. Because of the influence of sea-land thermodynamic difference,two asymmetric convective regions were located at ocean and land, *** better understand and investigate the asymmetric-structure characteristics of the landfalling typhoon,several dynamical diagnostic tools,the helicity (H),the moist potential vorticity (MPV),the convective vorticity vector (CVV),the moist vorticity vector (MVV),which are associated with the development of strong convections,are *** analysis illuminates that the distribu- tions of these physical diagnostic parameters are totally asymmetric,and subsequently,the associated convections also show distinct asymmetry.

This paper proposes an y2-y∞ learning law as a new learning method for dynamic neural networks with external disturbance. Based on linear matrix inequality （LMI） formulation, the y2-y∞ learning law is presented to not only guarantee asymptotical stability of dynamic neural networks but also reduce the effect of external disturbance to an y2-y∞ induced norm constraint. It is shown that the design of the y2-y∞ learning law for such neural networks can be achieved by solving LMIs, which can be easily facilitated by using some standard numerical packages. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the validity of the proposed learning law.

As the increasing number of Phasor Measurement Units(PMUs) are deployed, wide area protection in power systems has been gaining interest. In particular, fault detection, fault classification and fault area estimation are essential to reduce the damage of faults, and even prevent catastrophic cascades of failures. In this paper, we present a scheme for fault area estimation using PMUs and traveling wave theory. The purpose of this paper is to formulate a scheme for fault area estimation by calculating the approximate fault location based on traveling wave *** research has targeted at reliable operation of wide transmission system through the estimation of fault *** verify the suggested scheme, the various simulations are performed in practical Korean power transmission *** simulation results show that the proposed scheme has a good performance with high accuracy for estimating fault area.

In this paper, we propose a new input-to-state stable （ISS） synchronization method for chaotic behavior in nonlinear Bloch equations with external disturbance. Based on Lyapunov theory and linear matrix inequality （LMI） approach, for the first time, the ISS synchronization controller is presented to not only guarantee the asymptotic synchronization but also achieve the bounded synchronization error for any bounded disturbance. The proposed controller can be obtained by solving a convex optimization problem represented by the LMI. Simulation study is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme.

The effects of reduction in area(RA)per pass during caliber rolling on microstructure and strain distribution of twinninginduced plasticity steel have been investigated to find solutions to make a more homogeneous material along the radial direction for wire rod *** steel wires subjected to an average RA per pass of 2.5%(ski. pass caliber rolling)and 10.0%(conventional caliber rolling)were *** ski. pass caliber-rolled wire was characterized as a duplex fiber texture of majorand minor.and the textures were almost same at/between center and surface area,which is totally different from those of conventional caliber rolling and wire *** ski. pass caliber rolling led to more homogeneous microstructure and mechanical properties along the radial direction in comparison with the conventional caliber rolling and wire drawing due to the more homogeneous Hall-Petch hardening,dislocation hardening,and texture behavior with area,resulting in higher formability.

We propose a new passivity based synchronization scheme for chaotic behavior in nonlinear Bloch equations. Based on the Lyapunov theory and linear matrix inequality （LMI） approach, for the first time, the passivity based controller is presented to guarantee stable synchronization. The proposed controller can be obtained by solving a convex optimization problem represented by an LMI. A numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization scheme.

Daily meat consumption produces a lot of bone waste, and dumped bone waste without treatment would result in environmental hazards. Conventional treatment methods of waste bones have some disadvantages. Herein, an investigation of bone waste treated using thermal plasma technology is presented. A high-temperature plasma torch operated at 25.2 kW was used to treat bone waste for seven minutes. The bone waste was finally changed into vitric matter and lost 2/3 of its weight after the treatment. The process was highly efficient, economical, convenient, and fuel-free. This method could be used as an alternative for disposal of bone waste, small infectious animals, hazardous hospital waste, etc.

The cutoff characteristics of dielectric-filled circular holes embedded in a dispersive plasmonic medium are investigated. Since two distinctive operating modes, surface plasmon polariton and circular waveguide modes, can exist in the slow and fast wave regions, respectively, the cutoff characteristics for each are separately investigated for linear and radial polarizations of the guided fields. As a result, the cutoff wavelengths for the linear and radial polarizations with very small subwavelength hole radii are found to be limited by the plasma resonance wavelength and plasma wavelength, which in turn are dependent and independent, respectively, of the dielectric constant of the dielectric filler material.
