Efficient and cost-effective electrocatalysts that can operate across a wide range of pH conditions are essential for green hydrogen *** by biological systems,Fe_(7)S_(8)nanoparticles incorporated on polydopamine matrix electrocatalyst were synthesized by co-precipitation and annealing *** resulting Fe_(7)S_(8)/C electrocatalyst possesses a three-dimensional structure and exhibits enhanced electrocatalytic performance for hydrogen production across various pH ***,the Fe_(7)S_(8)/C electrocatalyst demonstrates exceptional activity,achieving low overpotentials of 90.6,45.9,and 107.4 mV in acidic,neutral,and alkaline environments,*** impedance spectroscopy reveals that Fe_(7)S_(8)/C exhibits the lowest charge transfer resistance under neutral conditions,indicating an improved proton-coupled electron transfer ***-wave electron paramagnetic resonance results confirm a change in the valence state of Fe from 3+to 1+during the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).These findings closely resemble the behavior of natural[FeFe]-hydrogenase,known for its superior hydrogen production in neutral *** remarkable performance of our Fe_(7)S_(8)/C electrocatalyst opens up new possibilities for utilizing bioinspired materials as catalysts for the HER.

High-Throughput Pb Recycling for Perovskite Solar Cells Using Biomimetic Whitlockite

Pb contamination in aquatic environments causes severe pollution;therefore,harmless absorbents are *** this study,we report a novel synthesis of whitlockite(WH,Ca_(18)Mg_(2)(HPO_(4))_(2)(PO_(4))_(12)),which is the second most abundant biomineral in human bone,and its application as a high-performing Pb^(2+)***(HAP)and WH are prepared via a simple precipitation *** Pb2+absorption performance and mechanism of the synthesized biominerals are investigated in aqueous solutions at neutral *** results demonstrate that WH exhibits an excellent Pb2+absorption capacity of 2339 mg g^(−1),which is 1.68 times higher than the recorded value for ***,the absorbed Pb^(2+) ions are recycled into high-purity PbI_(2).This is employed as a precursor for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells(PSCs),resulting in a conversion efficiency of 19.00%comparable to that of commercial PbI2 powder(99.99%purity).Our approach provides an efficient way to remove Pb^(2+)ions from water and reuse them in the recycling of PSCs.

BACKGROUND Cases of severe inflammatory renal disease and renal cell carcinoma(RCC)that occur simultaneously in the same kidney have been occasionally ***,extrarenal RCC that does not originate from the native kidney has rarely been *** our knowledge,this is the first reported case of RCC developing in the ipsilateral retroperitoneal space after a simple nephrectomy(SN)for inflammatory renal *** SUMMARY A 63-year-old woman was referred to our hospital following the incidental discovery of a left retroperitoneal mass without specific *** medical history revealed a left SN 27 years ago due to a renal *** resonance imaging of the abdomen revealed three oval masses in the left *** masses were successfully excised,and subsequent pathology confirmed papillary *** surgery,the patient remained disease-free for 11 years without adjuvant *** Clinicians should be vigilant of RCC in patients with retroperitoneal masses,especially after SN for inflammatory renal disease.

Delayed-onset endophthalmitis associated with Achromobacter species developed in acute form several months after cataract surgery:Three case reports

BACKGROUND Achromobacter species-associated endophthalmitis is rare and may present as either acute or chronic postoperative ***-onset Achromobacter species endophthalmitis appearing in acute presentation that develops more than several months after cataract surgery is very *** lens(IOL)removal is commonly recommended to treat Achromobacter species endophthalmitis,which is based on previous ***,we report the results of surgery without IOL removal when treating patients with delayed-onset postoperative Achromobacter species endophthalmitis that developed in an acute *** SUMMARY Three patients visited our ophthalmology clinic due to visual impairment that began 2-3 d *** had undergone cataract surgery 5-18 mo *** visual acuity of the diseased eye was between counting fingers at 30 cm to non-light *** showed conjunctival injection,inflammation in the anterior chamber(cell reaction 4+)and hypopyon *** patients were diagnosed with infectious endophthalmitis and immediately underwent pars plana vitrectomy,anterior chamber irrigation and intravitreal injection of ceftazidime and *** fluid infusion,a vitreous specimen was obtained. In all cases, the IOLs were not removed. Achromobacter species was detected on vitreousspecimen culture. After surgery, the vitreous opacity decreased gradually and there was littleretinal damage. At 1 mo after treatment, the best-corrected visual acuity had improved to 20/50and 20/*** onset postoperative endophthalmitis caused by Achromobacter species can appear in anacute form. All patients responded well to early vitrectomy and administration of empiricalantibiotics including ceftazidime. There was no need for IOL removal during surgery.

The association of stromal antigen 3(STAG3) sequence variations with spermatogenic impairment in the male Korean population

The stromal antigen 3(STAG3)gene,encoding a meiosis-specific cohesin component,is a strong candidate for causing male infertility,but little is known about this gene so *** identified STAG3 in patients with nonobstructive azoospermia(NOA)and normozoospermia in the Korean *** coding regions and their intron boundaries of STAG3 were identified in 120 Korean men with spermatogenic impairments and 245 normal controls by using direct sequencing and haplotype analysis.A total of 30 sequence variations were identified in this *** the total,seven were exonic variants,18 were intronic variants,one was in the 5’-UTR,and four were in the 3'-*** variations that directly caused NOA were not ***,two variants,c.3669+35C>G(rs1727130)and+198A>T(rs1052482),showed significant differences in the frequency between the patient and control groups(P=0.021,odds ratio[OR]:1.79,95%confidence interval[Cl]:1.098-2.918)and were tightly linked in the linkage disequilibrium(LD)*** pmir-rs1052482A was cotransfected with miR-3162-5p,there was a substantial decrease in luciferase activity,compared with *** result suggests that rsl052482 was located within a binding site of miR-3162-5p in the STAG33'-UTR,and the minor allele,the rs1052482T polymorphism,might offset inhibition by *** are the first to identify a total of 30 single-nucleotide variations(SNVs)of STAG3 gene in the Korean *** found that two SNVs(rs1727130 and rsl052482)located in the 3'-UTR region may be associated with the NOA *** findings contribute to understanding male infertility with spermatogenic impairment.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of the progress in light-material interactions(LMIs),focusing on lasers and flash lights for energy conversion and storage *** discuss intricate LMI parameters such as light sources,interaction time,and fluence to elucidate their importance in material *** addition,this study covers various light-induced photothermal and photochemical processes ranging from melting,crystallization,and ablation to doping and synthesis,which are essential for developing energy materials and ***,we present extensive energy conversion and storage applications demonstrated by LMI technologies,including energy harvesters,sensors,capacitors,and *** the several challenges associated with LMIs,such as complex mechanisms,and high-degrees of freedom,we believe that substantial contributions and potential for the commercialization of future energy systems can be achieved by advancing optical technologies through comprehensive academic research and multidisciplinary collaborations.
