Many skyscrapers have installed wind turbine systems to use new renewable energy. In particular, building an integrated wind power generation system by installing a wind power generator inside a building is an attractive method to secure safe energy. However, most studies have dealt with the efficiency of wind turbines and the response effects of wind induced vibration; space preparation for wind turbine installations has not been sufficiently considered. This work reviewed the shapes of openings where wind turbines can be installed in skyscrapers, and the characteristics of wind induced vibration responses occurring in the building with changes in cross sectional area. Nine wind power models were constructed to carry out the experiment. According to the experimental results, wind speed varies with shape of opening in the order of C-type>S-type>R-type. Moreover, wind speed increases as the area is reduced.

Most modern tall buildings using lighter construction materials are more flexible, which can lead to excessive wind-induced vibrations resulting in occupant discomfort and structural unsafety. It is necessary to predict and mitigate such wind-induced vibration at the preliminary design stage. Fluctuating across and along-wind loads acting on a tall building that could not be formulated theoretically were simulated numerically in the time domain using known across and along-wind load spectra. These simulated wind loads were used to estimate the across and along-wind responses of a tall building, which are less narrow-banded processes, based on the state space variable approach. The simulated across-wind response of root-mean-square value(0.0047) and that of KAREEM's(0.0040) and the simulated along-wind response of root-mean-square value(0.021) and that of SOLARI's(0.027) were compared. It is found that these are good approximations of closed form responses. Therefore, these numerically simulated across and along-wind loads can be used for across and along-wind responses estimation for the wind-resistant design of a tall building at the preliminary design stage.

Most of modern tall buildings using lighter construction materials with high strength and less stiffness are more flexible, which occurs excessive wind-induced vibration, resulting in occupant discomfort and structural unsafety. It is necessary to predict wind-induced vibration response and find out a method to mitigate such an excessive wind-induced vibration at the preliminary design stage. Recently, many studies have been conducted in using actuator control force based on the linear quadratic optimum control algorithm. It was accepted as a common knowledge that the performance of passive tuned mass damper(TMD) could increase by incorporating a feedback active control force in the design of TMD, which is called active tuned mass damper(ATMD). However, the fact that ATMD is superior to TMD to reduce wind-induced vibration of a tall building is still a question. The effectiveness of TMD for mitigating the along-wind vibration of a tall building was investigated. Optimum parameters of tuning frequency and damping ratio for TMD under a random load which has a white noise spectra were used. Fluctuating along-wind load acting on a tall building treated as a stationary Gaussian random process was simulated numerically using the along-wind load spectra. And using this simulated along-wind load, along-wind responses of a tall building with and without TMD were calculated and the effectiveness of TMD in mitigating the along-wind response of a tall building was found out.

Novel high-efficiency visible-light-sensitive Nd-doped CdTe nanoparticles were prepared with various doping concentra- tions of neodymium ion by a facile hydrothermal method. The reaction products were analyzed via X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, transmission electron microscopy （TEM）, photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, and UV-Vis diffuse re- flectance spectroscopy techniques. Red shift was seen in the absorption band edge peak in the UV-Vis absorbance specmun with in- creasing Nd content. The XRD and XPS results confirmed that Nd ions successfully replaced Cd atoms and were incorporated into the crystal lattice of CdTe. SEM and TEM images indicated spherical structure and high crystallinity. Even at a very low Nd/CdTe molar ratio of 2 mol.%, Nd doping could greatly enhance the photocatalytic activity of CdTe. The photocatalytic activity of Nd-doped CdTe nanoparticles was evaluated by monitoring the decolorization of RRed 43 in aqueous solution under visible-light irradiation. The color removal efficiency of Nd0.08Cd0.9eYe and pure CdTe were 83.14% and 14.32% after 100 min of treatment, respectively. Among different amounts of the doping agent, 8 tool.% Nd indicated the highest decolorization. The presence of radical scavengers such as CF, CO3-, SO4〉, and huthanol was found to reduce the decolorization efficiency.

AIM:To evaluate clinical validity of the compression anastomosis ring(CARTM27) anastomosis in left-sided colonic resection. METHODS:A non-randomized prospective data collection was performed for patients undergoing an elective left-sided colon resection,followed by an anastomosis using the CARTM27 between November 2009 and January *** criteria of the use of the CARTM27 were anastomoses between the colon and at or above the intraperitoneal *** primary short-term clinical endpoint,rate of anastomotic leakage,and other clinical outcomes,including intraand postoperative complications,length of operation time and hospital stay,and the ring elimination time were evaluated. Background:Despite remarkable advances in surgical techniques and perioperative management,left hepatic trisectionectomy(LHT)remains a challenging procedure with a somewhat high postoperative morbidity rate compared with less-extensive *** study aimed to analyze the short-and long-term outcomes of LHT and identify factors associated with the postoperative morbidity of this technically demanding surgical ***:The medical records of 53 patients who underwent LHT between June 2005 and October 2019 at a single institution were retrospectively *** independent prognostic factor of postoperative morbidity was analyzed using the logistic regression ***:Hepatocellular carcinoma was the most common indication for surgery(n=21),followed by hilar cholangiocarcinoma(n=14),intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(n=10),and other pathologies(including colorectal liver metastasis,hepatolithiasis,gallbladder cancer,living donor,hemangioma,and multilocular biliary cyst;n=8).The rates of postoperative morbidities of Clavien-Dindo grade 3 or higher and 90-day mortality were 39.6% and 1.9%,*** 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates were 81.1%,61.4%,and 44.6%,*** analysis revealed that preoperative jaundice[hazard ratio(HR)=6.15,95%confidence interval(CI):1.57-24.17,P=0.009]and operative time>420 min(HR=4.66,95%CI:1.27–17.17,P=0.021)were independent predictors of postoperative ***:The in-hospital mortality of LHT surgery can be minimalized by a reliable preoperative evaluation of liver function and selection of the dominant anatomic features of right posterior sector,active and appropriate preoperative management for obstructive cholangitis and compensatory hypertrophy of the future remnant posterior sector,and the experience of the surgeon.

The use of low-cost single GPS receivers and inertial sensors for auto-guidance applications has been limited by their reduced accuracy and signal drift over time compared to real-time kinematic(RTK)differential GPS units and fiber-optic gyroscope(FOG)*** this study,a prototype low-cost GPS/INS integrated system consisting of a triangle-shaped array of three Garmin 19x GPS receivers and an Xsens inertial measurement unit(IMU)to improve the accuracy of position and heading angle measured with a single GPS receiver was developed.A triangular algorithm that uses data collected from the three single GPSs mounted on the angular points of a triangular frame was designed.A sensor fusion algorithm based on the Kalman filter combining the GPS and IMU data was developed by integrating position data and heading angles of a triangular array of GPS *** optimized values of two noise covariance matrixes(Q and R)for the Kalman filtering were determined using the Central Composite Design(CCD)*** compared to the use of a single Garmin GPS receiver,use of the developed GPS/INS system showed improved accuracy performance in terms of both position and heading angle,with reductions in root mean square errors(RMSEs)from 2.7 m to 0.64 m for position and from 8.9ºto 2.1ºfor heading *** accuracy improvements show new potential for agricultural auto-guidance applications.
