Thi. paper deals wi.h a real-li.e appli.ati.n of epi.epsy classi.i.ati.n, where three phases of absence sei.ure, namely pre-sei.ure, sei.ure and sei.ure-free, are classi.i.d usi.g real cli.i.al data. Arti.i.i.l neural network （ANN） and support vector machi.es （SVMs） combi.ed wi.h su- pervi.ed learni.g algori.hms, and k-means clusteri.g （k-MC） combi.ed wi.h unsupervi.ed techni.ues are employed to classi.y the three sei.ure phases. Di.ferent techni.ues to combi.e bi.ary SVMs, namely One Vs One （OvO）, One Vs All （OVA） and Bi.ary Deci.i.n Tree （BDT）, are employed for multi.lass classi.i.ati.n. Compari.ons are performed wi.h two tradi.i.nal classi.i.ati.n methods, namely, k-Nearest Nei.hbour （k- NN） and Nai.e Bayes classi.i.r. i. i. concluded that SVM-based classi.i.rs outperform the tradi.i.nal ones i. terms of recogni.i.n accuracy and robustness property when the ori.i.al cli.i.al data i. di.torted wi.h noi.e. Furthermore, SVM-based classi.i.r wi.h OvO provi.es the hi.hest recogni.i.n accuracy, whereas ANN-based classi.i.r overtakes by demonstrati.g maxi.um accuracy i. the presence of noi.e.
