In the last decades,metasurfaces have attracted much attention because of their extraordinary light-scattering ***,their inherently static geometry is an obstacle to many applications where dynamic tunability in their optical behaviour is ***,there is a quest to enable dynamic tuning of metasurface properties,particularly with fast tuning rate,large modulation by small electrical signals,solid state and programmable across multiple ***,we demonstrate electrically tunable metasurfaces driven by thermo-optic effect and flash-heating in *** show a 9-fold change in transmission bye and the modulation rise-time ofevice consists of a silicon hole array metasurface encapsulated by transparent conducting oxide as a localised *** allows for video frame rate optical switching over multiple pixels that can be electrically *** of the advantages of the proposed tuning method compared with other methods are the possibility to apply it for modulation in the visible and near-infrared region,large modulation depth,working at transmission regime,exhibiting low optical loss,low input voltage requirement,and operating with higher than video-rate switching *** device is furthermore compatible with modern electronic display technologies and could be ideal for personal electronic devices such as flat displays,virtual reality holography and light detection and ranging,where fast,solid-state and transparent optical switches are required.

We demonstrate that a dielectric anapole resonator on a metallic mirror can enhance the third harmonic emission by two orders of magnitude compared to a typical anapole resonator on an insulator *** employing a gold mirror under a silicon nanodisk,we introduce a novel characteristic of the anapole mode through the spatial overlap of resonantly excited Cartesian electric and toroidal dipole *** is a remarkable improvement on the early demonstrations of the anapole mode in which the electric and toroidal modes interfere ***,our system produces a significant near-field enhancement,facilitating the nonlinear ***,the mirror surface boosts the nonlinear emission via the free-charge oscillations within the interface,equivalent to producing a mirror image of the nonlinear source and the pump beneath the *** found that these improvements result in an extremely high experimentally obtained efficiency of 0.01%.

Designerly optimization of devices(as reflectors)to improve daylight and scrutiny of the light-well’s configuration

One of the most effective ways of transmitting daylight into deep-plan buildings is to generate light-well for spaces away from the facade and window-less *** the limited methods of improving daylight efficiency in light-wells are reflectors that,as a surplus member of the wells,can aid in this improvement.A scrutiny of the light-well’s configuration can give a correct perception of the performance of the well’s walls with increasing the reflection coefficient to the designers in deciding where to install the openings,selecting the transmittance coefficient of glass,*** this paper,the main focus is designing and optimizing daylight assist devices on light-wells that can hierarchically reflect light from the sky to the bottom of the well(Device 1)and then emit into the desired space(Device 2).The research highlights that it is necessary to find a proper strategy for the devices regarding to the optimization *** research design results in a comprehensive standard solution for different *** simulations were performed by Honeybee Plus version 0.0.06 and Honeybee-Ladybug version 0.0.69-0.0.66,which has the ability to simulate annual daylight performance at certain *** to the maximum and minimum altitudes at any latitude,the study required time-criteria throughout the *** a result,a cross-sectional study was carried out at two critical times:the first period(P1)and the second period(P2).Daylight metrics for analyzing configuration as well as evaluating devices are e’max,avg(illumination)and SHA(hour/m2).The DA’300 and DA’max2000 metrics were selected to measure daylight efficiency and glare risk,respectively,and the sDA is for the amount of floor area that uses enough ***,to better percept how to prepare improved-daylight at lower levels(especially for the performance of devices),the daylight autonomy has been reduced from 50%to 40%and a metric such as sDA’t40 has been created.

Impacts of wind erosion and seasonal changes on soil carbon dioxide emission in southwestern Iran

Wind erosion is one of the main drivers of soil loss in the world, which affects 20 million hectare land of Iran. Besides the soil loss, wind erosion contributes to carbon dioxide emission from the soil into the atmosphere. The objective of this study is to evaluate monthly and seasonal changes in carbon dioxide emission in four classes i.e., low, moderate, severe and very severe soil erosion and the interactions between air temperature and wind erosion in relation to carbon dioxide emission in the Bordekhun region, Boushehr Province, southwestern Iran. Wind erosion intensities were evaluated using IRIFR(Iran Research Institute of Forests and Ranges) model, in which four classes of soil erosion were identified. Afterward, we measured carbon dioxide emission on a monthly basis and for a period of one year using alkali traps in each class of soil erosion. Data on emission levels and erosion classes were analyzed as a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design with twelve replications in each treatment. The highest rate of emission occurred in July(4.490 g CO_2/(m^2·d)) in severely eroded lands and the least in January(0.086 g CO_2/(m^2·d)) in low eroded lands. Therefore, it is resulted that increasing erosion intensity causes an increase in soil carbon dioxide emission rate at severe erosion intensity. Moreover, the maximum amount of carbon dioxide emission happened in summer and the minimum in winter. Soil carbon dioxide emission was just related to air temperature without any relationship with soil moisture content;since changes of soil moisture in the wet and dry seasons were not high enough to affect soil microorganisms and respiration in dry areas. In general, there are complex and multiple relationships between various factors associated with soil erosion and carbon dioxide emission. Global warming causes events that lead to more erosion, which in turn increases greenhouse gas emission, and rising greenhouse gases will cause more global warming. The

Intraguild predation among Scolothrips Iongicornis （Thysanoptera： Thripidae）, Neoseiulus californicus and Typhlodromus bagdasarjani （Acari： Phytoseiidae） under laboratory conditions

This study was carried out on the ability of predatory thrips Scolothrips longi- cornis Priesner to feed on 2 phytoseiid species and vice versa. Also the effect of predation of Neoseiulus californicus （McGregor） on Typhlodromus bagdasarjani Wainstein and Aru- tunjan and vice versa was evaluated. The larvae, prepupae, and pupae of thrips and the eggs, larvae, and protonymphs of phytoseiids were selected as intraguild prey. The in- traguild predation （IGP） among S. longicornis and 2 phytoseiid species was unidirectional and in favor of phytoseiids, i.e., S. longicornis was not able to feed on larval stages of 2 phytoseiids. However, N. californicus and T. bagdasarjani fed on the 1st instar larvae （1.39 and 0.80 per day）, 2nd instar larvae （0.87 and 0.55 per day）, prepupae （0.51 and 0.48 per day）, and pupae of thrips （0.51 and 0.49 per day, respectively）. Both phytoseiids fed on eggs, larvae, and protonymphal stages of each other. Females of N. californicus con- sumed more phytoseiid larvae （2.49 per day） than T. bagdasarjani, which consumed 1.08 N. californicus larvae per day. When Tetranychus urticae was presented as an extraguild prey, intensity oflGP between 2 species ofphytoseiids and on larval stages ofS. longicornis reduced significantly. Therefore, it is concluded that （i） IGP existed among the 3 examined species and lack of feeding of S. longicornis on 2 phytoseiid species can be justified by its feeding type （monophagy）, （ii） N. californicus was much more prone to IGP than was T. bagdasarjani.

effects of Magnetic Particles entrance Arrangements on Mixing efficiency of a Magnetic Bead Micromixer

In this study, a computer code is developed to numerically investigate a magnetic bead micromixer under different conditions. The micromixer consists of a microchannel and numerous micro magnetic particles which enter the micromixer by fluid flows and are actuated by an alternating magnetic field normal to the main flow. An important feature of micromixer which is not considered before by researchers is the particle entrance arrangement into the micromixer. This parameter could effectively affect the micromixer efficiency. There are two general micro magnetic particle entrance arrangements in magnetic bead micromixers: determined position entrance and random position entrance. In the case of determined position entrances, micro magnetic particles enter the micromixer at specific positions of entrance cross section. However, in a random position entrance,particles enter the microchannel with no order. In this study mixing efficiencies of identical magnetic bead micromixers which only differ in particle entrance arrangement are numerically investigated and *** results reported in this paper illustrate that the prepared computer code can be one of the most powerful and beneficial tools for the magnetic bead micromixer performance analysis. In addition, the results show that some features of the magnetic bead micromixer are strongly affected by the entrance arrangement of the particles.

Dielectric metasurfaces play an increasingly important role in enhancing optical nonlinear generations owing to their ability to support strong light-matter interactions based on Mie-type multipolar *** to metasurfaces composed of the periodic arrangement of nanoparticles,inverse,so-called,membrane metasurfaces offer unique possibilities for supporting multipolar resonances,while maintaining small unit cell size,large mode volume and high field enhancement for enhancing nonlinear frequency ***,we theoretically and experimentally investigate the formation of bound states in the continuum(BICs)from silicon dimer-hole membrane *** demonstrate that our BIC-formed resonance features a strong and tailorable electric near-field confinement inside the silicon membrane ***,we show that by tuning the gap between the holes,one can open a leaky channel to transform these regular BICs into quasi-BICs,which can be excited directly under normal plane wave *** prove the capabilities of such metasurfaces,we demonstrate the conversion of an infrared image to the visible range,based on the Third-harmonic generation(THG)process with the resonant membrane *** results suggest a new paradigm for realising efficient nonlinear photonics metadevices and hold promise for extending the applications of nonlinear structuring surfaces to new types of all-optical near-infrared imaging technologies.

Characterization of the Omni-Processor Sewage Sludge Ash for Reuse as Construction Material

Omni Processors(OP)are machines which use sludge as a fuel to generate electricity and clean water,but create ash at the same *** the present study,fly ash and bottom ash are investigated as materials for potential reuse in the construction ***,the granular size,density and Blaine finesse are ***,the chemical composition and microstructure are obtained by means of X-ray fluorescence and Scanning electron Microscopy-energy Dispersive Spectroscopy(SeM-eDS),***,ashes reactivity is determined by two chemical methods(modified Chapelle test,bound water content R3)and a mechanical method(pozzolanic activity index).The characterization results indicate two material types:fly ash similar to cement and bottom ash similar to fine ***’s why the mortars mechanical strength with fly ash 0%-30%is better than that with bottom ash at the same *** ash slightly decreases the mechanical strength of mortars while bottom ash induces a much more significant decrease.

Qualitative Land Suitability evaluation for Main Irrigated Crops in the Shahrekord Plain, Iran: A Geostatistical Approach Compared with Conventional Method

The purity of soil map units and their quality for various uses like land suitability evaluation are always *** main objective of this study was to compare the precision of qualitative land suitability classification based on geostatistical and conventional soil mapping methods for main irrigated crops in the Shahrekord Plain,Central Iran.A regular grid sampling method consisting 104sample points was designed and soil samples were *** kriged maps were achieved for all studied soil attributes after physico-chemical ***,to combine kriged maps and ecological requirements of the studied crops,a script was designed in ILWIS 3.4 software and consequently,kriged qualitative land suitability maps were *** qualitative land suitability was also mapped based on the representative pedon analysis in each soil map ***,comparison of the conventional and kriged maps was carried out using the statistical method,error *** results showed that the overall accuracies of wheat,sugar beet,potato and alfalfa maps were 39.8%,24.3%,18.7%and 18.6%at subclass category,respectively,whereas these values increased to80.9%,82.3%,23.7%and 82.3%at class level,***,it can be stated that thanks to the relative facility of conventional soil survey compared with geostatistical methods,this method can be expressed as a preferable way for handling a usual land suitability evaluation design;but using soil map units as land suitability delineations may lead to unsatisfactory results in estimation of quantity and type of existing limitations.
