Branching is an important trait for the genetic improvement of rapeseed(Brassica napus L.).However,the genetic mechanism of branch number is not well *** the present study,a recombinant inbred line(RIL) population derived from a cross between few-and many-branches lines was identified for the phenotype in different environment and genotyped with whole genome 60 K SNP array.A major quantitative trait locus(QTL) for the branch number was mapped to a 2.48-Mb region on chromosome A02,explaining 28.12%of phenotype variance at ***,we constructeda near inbred line(NIL) population(BC4 F2) and developed polymorphic molecular markers according to the re-sequencing data of two parental lines for fine *** we have investigated the phenotype of more than 7000 individuals and next step we’ll search for the recombinant events with polymorphic markers,which can be narrow down the QTL interval *** studies are in progress and I think it is valuable for gene cloning and molecular breeding of branching in rapeseed.

The present study was undertaken to assess feeding effect on productive and reproductive performances of pre-natal and post-natal Red Chittagong Cattle （RCC） cows under on-station condition. A total of 16 pregnant RCC cows having pregnancy 6-7 months and between 1-3 parities was selected for the study and was allocated randomly into four dietary treatment groups. There are four type diets, i.e., To （standard diet according to National Research Council （NRC）, 1995）, T1 （5% below standard diet）, T2 （5% above standard diet）, T3 （10% above standard diet） and a control treatment T4 （maintained as farm practice）. The energy and protein requirements of experimental cows were determined as per standard developed by NRC. The results revealed that crude protein （CP） and metabolizable energy （ME, MJ/day） requirements among cows of different dietary groups were not significantly different, although CP requirements between T1 and T3 differed significantly. Total dry mater （DM） and ME intake differed significantly （P 〈 0.001） among cows of different dietary groups, but DM intake was significantly lower for cows in farm practice group Z4 compared to the cows of other dietary groups. The total CP intake had no significant variation （P 〉 0.05） among cows of all dietary groups, but CP intake from roughage varied significantly （P 〈 0.001）. Final live weight and total live weight gain had no significant variation for cows of all groups, but there were significant （P 〈 0.05） variation for daily weight gain. Daily weight gain of cows for first four dietary groups were significantly （P 〈 0.05） higher than cows of farm practice groups T4. Weight of calf from birth to 90 days and daily weight gain calves under different dietary groups showed that there were no significant （P 〉 0.05） variation of calf birth weights for all dietary groups, although lower birth weight was found in farm practice groups T4. Genetic diversity is one of the useful tools to select appropriate lines for hybridization. Twenty short-statured maize inbred lines were taken for present study, which were collected from CIMMYT India and Mexico through Plant Breeding Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Gazipur. This experiment was conducted from November 2015 to April 2016 to identify parental lines to produce single cross short statured maize hybrids. From the genetic diversity studies, the importance of both additive and non-additive gene actions for the expression of yield and yield contributing characters were found. Values of vector I and II revealed that both the vectors had positive values for date of silking, plant height, rows/cob, grains/row and yield. Background:Early detection and treatment of neuropathy in leprosy is important to prevent disabilities.A recent study showed that the Nerve Conduction Studies(NCS)and Warm Detection Thresholds(WDT)tests can detect leprosy neuropathy the *** two tests are not practical under field conditions,however,because they require climate-controlled rooms and highly trained staff and are *** assessed the usefulness of alternative test methods and their sensitivity and specificity to detect neuropathy at an early ***:Through a literature search we identified five alternative devices that appeared user-friendly,more affordable,portable and/or battery-operated:the Neuropad^(■),Vibratip^(TM),NC-Stat^(■)DPNCheck^(TM),NeuroQuick and the Thermal Sensibility Tester(TST),assessing respectively sweat function,vibration sensation,nerve conduction,cold sensation and warm *** leprosy patients in Bangladesh,the posterior tibial and sural nerves that tested normal for the monofilament test and voluntary muscle test were assessed with the NCS and WDT as reference standard *** alternative devices were then tested on 94 nerves with abnormal WDT and/or NCS results and on 94 unaffected *** and specificity were the main ***:The NeuroQuick and the TST showed very good sensitivity and *** the sural nerve,the NeuroQuick had both a sensitivity and a specificity of 86%.The TST had a sensitivity of 83%and a specificity of 82%.Both the NC-Stat^(■)DPNCheck^(TM)and Vibratip^(TM)had a high specificity(88%and 100%),but a low sensitivity(16%and 0%).On the posterior tibial nerve,the NeuroQuick and the TST also showed good sensitivity,but the sensitivity was lower than for the sural *** Neuropad^(■)had a sensitivity of 56%and a specificity of 61%.Conclusions:The NeuroQuick and TST are good candidates for further field-testing for reliability and *** feasibility of production on a larger scale should be exami

Background/Aims: The objective of this study is to measure macrophage inflammatory protein one beta (MIP-1β), mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) to evaluate their usefulness in the diagnosis of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) in cirrhotic patients. Materials and Methods: This study comprised 41 cirrhotic patients with ascites. MPV, PDW and MIP-1β were measured in serum and ascitic fluid. Results: A significant increase MPV, PDW, C-reactive Protein (CRP) and white blood cell was observed in SBP group compared to non SBP (P ≤ 0.001, P = 0 β was significantly in-creased in ascitic fluid in patients with SBP versus non SBP (P ≤ 0.001). At cutoff value of 8.3 fl MPV had 85.7% sensitivity and 75% specificity (AUC = 0.876) for diagnosis of SBP. At cutoff value of 15.4 PDW had 90.4% sensitivity and 55% specificity (AUC = 0.762). At cutoff value of 121.9 pg/ml MIP-1β in ascitic fluid had 76.1% sensitivity and 100% specificity (AUC = 0.881) for detecting SBP. Conclusion: MIP-1β and platelet indices are useful marker in the diagnosis of SBP in cirrhotic patients. Combined measurement of MIP-1β in serum and ascitic fluid had 100% sensitivity and specificity for diagnosis of SBP.

Electrochemical and Stress Corrosion Cracking Behavior of Alpha-Al Bronze in Sulfide-Polluted Salt Water: Effect of Environmentally-Friendly Additives

The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of α-Al bronze alloy (Cu7Al) was investigated in 3.5% NaCl solution in the absence and in the presence of different concentrations of Na2S under open circuit potentials using the constant slow strain rate technique. Also, the addition of different concentrations of cysteine (cys), and alanine (ala) to the test solution, as corrosion inhibitors, was studied. Increasing the sulfide ions concentration in polluted salt water resulted in a reduction in the maximum stress (σmax) and an increase in the susceptibility of α-Al bronze towards SCC. The addition of ala and cys to the test electrolyte increased the time to failure by changing the mode of failure from brittle transgranular cracking to ductile failure. Electrochemical tests were performed to assist the interpretation of the SCC data. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition. The results support film rupture and anodic dissolution at slip steps as the operating mechanism of the SCC process. Therefore, cys and ala can be considered as potential environmentally-friendly corrosion inhibitors for the SCC of α-Al bronze in 3.5% NaCl solution containing sulfide ions.
