This paper presents isothermal uniaxial compression test results of M300 grade maraging steel over a wide range of temperatures(900 e1200℃) and strain rates(0.001 e100 s^(-1)) to examine hot deformability and concurrent microstructural evolution. Processing map is generated and indicated the optimum processing parameters in the temperature range of 1125℃-1200℃ and strain rate range of 0.001 e0.1 s^(-1). High values of the efficiency of power dissipation, microstructural observations and EBSD results indicate softening mechanism to be the occurrence of dynamic recrystallisation. Material constants in a constitutive relation are evaluated from the flow stress data useful in computer modelling.

The aim of this investigation was to define the effectiv.n.ss of non-contact drying using ultrasonic vibrations. Disk radiators were used for carrying out experiments, and a special drying chamber was designed to provide resonant amplification of ultrasonic vibrations (from 130 to 150 dB). Drying of ginseng and other vegetables demonstrated that the application of ultrasonic vibrations reduced power inputs by 20% in comparison with convective drying. It also led to a decrease of 6% in final moisture content, if the duration of drying was constant. The level of intensification of ultrasonic drying was high (up to 50 g for 1 kg of drying material), which helped to lower the temperature of the drying agent and improve the quality of the dried products.

It has been studied connection between composition, structure and properties of powder steels using technology of their own. nitrogen containing powders were obtained by mechanical allowing (MA) of Fe-Cr and Fe Cr ni-C mixtures in a high-energy planetary mill in the gaseous nitrogen environment. The contents of nitrogen after MA was 0.7% in Fe-Cr-n and 2.1% in Fe-Cr-ni-C-n mixes. Phase composition after the mechanical alloying was: in system Fe-Cr-n - solid solution of chrome in iron and α - Fe, in system Fe-Cr-ni-C-n-40% γ-phase (vol. fraction) , α - Fe and solid solution Cr-Fe. There are investigated physical-mechanical, tribo-technical and specify properties of the nitrous steels, are fixed the base dependences between parameters of process of MA and structure of steels. Introduction of nitrogen by rather new method of MA, as against saturation of melts, allows to run phase composition - to generate structure with more dispersible and uniform nitrides or with the nitrous austenite (depending on purpose of steel).It is demonstrated by means of X-ray diffraction and method of Raman spectrum analysis, that in a sintering process of powder steels, obtained by introduction of carbon in the form of cast-iron powder, a formation of metallofullerite phase Fe_ x C_ 60 at determined conditions. The possibility of fullerenes conception in powder carbon steels, diffusion of iron atoms at fullerite lattice and formation of metallofullerites during contact interaction of fullerene with iron is confirmed *** of synthesis activity of fullerences from temperature of sintering, type and quantity of alloy elements is determined.

The emergence of improvised explosive devices (IED) significantly extended the spectrum of possiblethreat mechanisms to military vehicles and their occupants. Especially buried high explosive (HE)charges lead to new and originally not investigated loading conditions during their detonation. It is theinteraction of the embedding geomaterial with the detonation products that leads to a strongly increasedglobal impulse transfer on the vehicle with following high accelerations on the vehicle occupant. Thispaper presents a comprehensive approach for the analysis of occupant loading. In a first step, we presentthe so called ring technology which allows the experimental determination of the locally resolvedspecific impulse distribution on a vehicle floor due to buried charge detonation. A complementarymethod is the use of scaled model vehicles that allows the determination of global vehicle loading parameterssuch as jump height or vehicle accelerations. Both techniques were used to study the influenceof burial conditions as burial depth, embedding material or water content on the impulse transfer ontothe vehicle. These experimental data are used to validate material models for the embedding sand orgravel materials. This validated material description is the basis for numerical simulation models used inthe assessment of occupant safety. In the last step, we present a simulation model for a generic militaryvehicle including a Hybrid III occupant dummy that is used for the determination of biomechanicaloccupant exposure levels. Typical occupant loadings are evaluated and correlated with burial conditionsas HE mass and global momentum transfer.
