In this review,the possibilities of photochemical and electrochemical water splitting(WS)using porphyrins,phthalocyanines,related macrocycles,and their metal complexes are *** efforts are being carried out in order to develop novel and cheap methods for water decomposition to generate inexhaustible greener energy sources(molecular hydrogen)instead of oil and *** processes of WS in heterogeneous and homogeneous media require novel photo-and electrocatalysts,in particular those on macrocycle basis.A high WS efficiency has been observed for porphyrins and phthalocyanines,showing their suitability both for HER and OER processes are available using these relative compounds for WS *** can be used in photocatalytic and electrocatalytic WS processes both in their free forms or as metal porphyrins/porphyrinates,mainly loaded on various inorganic materials,such as Au NPs,C_(3)N_(4),GaP,KTaO_(3),GaP,and so on,as part of porphyrin-containing polymers or on electrode surface as modifying coatings,being sometimes better than commercial catalysts,such as Pt/*** H2 evolution can be considerably depended on the shape of porphyrin particles;in particular,porphyrin nanowires can yield up to 20 times more H2 than its *** certain cases,both HER and OER can be driven in the same electrolyte using metal *** capacity of metal porphyrins to generate ROS(in particular,singlet oxygen 1O_(2))under ultrasonic treatment is known and can be successfully used for H_(2)O_(2) and O_(2) *** can be used in similar processes in free form or as composites with inorganic or organic counterparts,being immobilized on nanocarbons,metal oxides and salts,or simply dissolved in water acting in a homogeneous *** additional use of ultrasound can lead to better results due to the synergistic effect of the sonochemical treatment and ***-organic frameworks are also applied for WS purposes and are mainly based

The main focus in this review is showing how to use the developed buffer theory for assessing and predicting the long-term phenomena of attenuation and natural remediation of ionic pollutants in contaminated aquatic ecosystems,as well as for analyzing the way by which metals move and transform within the environment,the distribution of metals in ecosystems,their deposition and cycling in the terrestrial *** buffer theory is based on the rigorous thermodynamic analysis of complex chemical equilibria under environmental conditions in aquatic ecosystems,as natural waters and *** has been established that both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems manifest a buffer action towards all their *** buffer properties in relation to the solid phase components are amplified with an increase of solubility due to protolytic or complex formation equilibria in saturated *** has been established that the buffer capacities of components are mutually proportional,whereas for heterogeneous systems these relationships depend on the stoichiometric composition of solid *** use of the developed buffer approach may yield extended knowledge and a deeper understanding of the processes that control the concentrations of components.A number of the important conclusions concerning the investigated buffer systems have been *** obtained results are indented to provide researchers with a tool needed to help them to set reliable limits of ion(metal)levels in the environment.

Effect of fabrication conditions on microstructure and thermoelectric properties of the ***3 compound was studied. Starting nanopowder with mean nanoparticle size of -37 nm was synthesized by a microwave-solvothermal method. In order to prepare samples with various micro-grained structures, the synthesized nanopowder was compacted by two methods. The first method is cold isostatic pressing with further high- temperature annealing, while the second method is spark plasma sintering at various temperatures of process （653 and 683 K）. It is found that mean grain size is equal to -290,-730 and -1160 nm for cold isostatically pressed and spark plasma sintered at 653 and 683 K samples, respectively. The micro-grained sample with maximum mean grain size shows the best thermoelectric properties. This sample is structurally inhomogeneous and has the lowest thermal conductivity and the specific electrical resistivity. Maximum dimensionless figure of merit for this sample is equal to -0.9 for temperature range of 450-500 K.

Two-pore cation channel,TPC1,is ubiquitous in the vacuolar membrane of terrestrial plants and mediates the long distance signaling upon biotic and abiotic *** possesses a wide pore,which transports small mono-and divalent cations.K^(+) is transported more than 10-fold faster than Ca^(2+) ,which binds with a higher affinity within the *** pore residues,responsible for Ca^(2+) binding,have been recently *** is also a substantial pro-gress in the mechanistic and structural understanding of the plant TPC1 gating by membrane voltage and cytosolic and luminal Ca^(2+).Collectively,these gating factors at resting conditions strongly reduce the potentially lethal Ca^(2+) leak from the *** tight control is impressive,bearing in mind high unitary conductance of the TPC1 and its abundance,with thousands of active channel copies per *** it remains a mystery how this high thresh-old is overcome upon signaling,and what type of signal is emitted by TPC1,whether it is Ca^(2+)or electrical one,or a transduction via protein conformational change,independent on ion *** we discuss non-exclusive scenarios for the TPC1 integration into Ca^(2+),ROS and electrical signaling.

Importance of functional classification in the use of carabids for the environmental risk assessment of the GE crops and other agricultural practices

Carabids(Coleoptera:Carabidae)seem to be suitable bioindicalors of the environmental impacts of novel agrotechnologies,including deployment of the genetically engineered(GE)*** this article,we describe our effort to employ carabids in the environmental risk assessment(ERA).GE maize MON88017,its near-isogenic hybrid nontreated or treated with the soil insccticide chlorpyrifos,and two reference hybrids were used to compare three different ways how to utilize carabids in *** analysis of abundance of all captured carabids or of the most abundant carabid specics did not disclose any differences between the *** analysis based on the categories of functional traits revealed distinct fecatures of some treatments and proved suitable for ERA because it permitted field data transportability in spite of different species *** results indicate that GE maize has no detrimental environmental effecl,On the other hand,we found significant trends toward lower abundance and lower species number(including analysis of all carabid species together)in plots treated with the insecticide,and some tendencies to higher abundance and higher species number in plots sown with the reference hybrid *** functional group indicators alows identification of unintended changes in ecological functions of agroecosystem and comparability across *** recommend data evaluation at the level of the categories of functional traits in ERA of GE crops and other agricultural practices.
