The financial crisis of 2008 left the U.S. econom. in a state of severe recession, which is still being felt all over. This has also left the governm.nt in a frantic condition to rebuild the financial m.rkets from.the bottom.up. What started out with excessive bank lending on m.rtgages lead to the m.rtgage crisis and a ripple effect on the econom.. The cancer has spread globally, affecting every m.jor m.rketplace and all the m.jor states in the U.S.. Our econom. is still very fragile because of this crisis, but eventually we will recover in a few years tim. to achieve robust econom.c growth. Long standing cultural pressures in the United States m.intained that hom. ownership was necessary to be a part of the Am.rican Dream. and this cultural stance was reinforced by Clinton in 1994, when he enacted a program.to raise hom. ownership to m.re than two-thirds of all adults. With the tacit blessing of the Federal Governm.nt, m.ny m.rtgage com.anies sprung up, that catered to those in lower incom. brackets, offering them.the m.rtgages that m.ny did not have the financial sophistication to understand and deliver. Coupled with the skyrocketing costs of property taxes, insurance, and m.intenance costs, m.ny hom.owners found them.elves unable to pay their m.rtgages. The whole industry tanked, causing displacem.nt of people and increased unem.loym.nt. The lenders of these m.rtgages sold the notes to investm.nt bankers, and they were sold as high-quality investm.nt grade securities. The m.jor rating agencies were com.lacent in this tactic, causing rapid default rates on these m.rtgages; m.ny com.ercial and investm.nt banks got caught in this crisis. The prices of hom.s continue to decline, and m.ny hom.owners find them.elves under water on their m.rtgages. It was found that in 2010, the U.S. governm.nt was responsible for nine out of every ten m.rtgages issued, which caused further problem. with Fanny m.e and Freddie m.c. Safety and efficacy of ledipasvir/sofosbuvir on hepatitis C eradication in hepatitis C virus/hum.n im.unodeficiency virus co-infected patients

AIm.To evaluate the safety and efficacy of ledipasvir/sofosbuvir on hepatitis C eradication in patients with hepatitis C virus(HCV)/hum.n im.unodeficiency virus(HIV) co-infection in an urban HIV *** A retrospective cohort study of 40 subjects co-infected with HIV-1 and HCV treated with the fixed-dose com.ination of ledipasvir and sofosbuvir for 12 wk from.2014 to *** patients included were receiving antiretroviral therapy(ART) with HIV RNA values of 100 copies/m.L or fewer regardless of baseline HCV RNA *** prim.ry end point was a sustained virologic response of HCV at 12 wk(SVR12) after the end of *** Of the 40 patients enrolled,55% were black,22.5% had been previously treated for HCV,and 25% *** patients were on a wide range of ***,39 patients(97.5%) had a SVR 12 after the end of therapy,including rates of 97.1% in patients with HCV genotype 1 a and 100% in those with HCV genotype 1 *** patient with HCV genotype 3 a was included and achieved *** of SVR12 were sim.lar regardless of previous treatm.nt or the presence of com.ensated *** 1 patient experienced relapse at week 12 following treatm.nt and deep sequencing didn't reveal any resistance associated m.tation in the NS5A or NS5B ***,7(17.5%) patients who were adherent to ART experienced HIV viral breakthrough which resolved after continuing the sam. ART ***(5%) patients experienced HIV-1 virologic rebound due to noncom.liance with HIV therapy,which resolved after resum.ng the sam. ART *** severe adverse events were observed and no patient discontinued treatm.nt because of adverse *** m.st com.on adverse events included headache(12.5%),fatigue(10%),and diarrhea(2.5%).CONCLUSION This retrospective study dem.nstrated the high rates of SVR12 of ledipasvir/sofosbuvir on HCV eradication in patients co-infected with HCV and HIV,regardless of HCV baseline levels,HCV treatm.nt history or cirrhosis condition.

Application of biochar technology in the rem.diation of organic contam.nated soils has drawn growing interest in recent *** this study,sorption and degradation of two typical neonicotinoid insecticides,im.dacloprid(Im.)and clothianidin(CLO)in Chinese typical paddy soil and red soil am.nded with six kinds of biochars were *** results showed that surface area(SA),pH,total organic carbon and dissolved organic carbon(DOC)of the two soils all increased after biochar am.ndm.nt,while H/C *** biochar pyrolyzing tem.erature(PT)increasing from.300℃ to 700℃,the sorption of the two insecticides on biochar-soil m.xtures increased by m.re than 4.3-fold,due to the increasing SA and decreasing H/*** acidic pH of the two tested soils also favored the enhanced sorption of the insecticides by rem.ving the ash on *** am.ndm.nt of low-PT(300℃)biochar prom.ted the biodegradation of Im. and CLO by 11.3-41.9%via providing m.re DOC and available N for m.croorganism.,while inhibiting the chem.cal ***,the high-PT(500-700℃)biochars inhibited the biodegradation of the insecticides by decreasing their bioavailability and prom.ted the chem.cal degradation by providing m.neral active groups,and generating·OH and other free *** addition,soil type also affected the effects of biochar *** highest 60-day degradation extent was achieved for CLO(90.5%)and Im.(81.4%)in paddy soil by adding biochar derived from.pig m.nure at 700℃ *** sum.ary,the effect of biochar on the fate of organic contam.nants in soil is a com.rehensive result involving several processes and a system.tic study considering the type and property of biochar and soil is needed to optim.ze biochar technology.

Capecitabine and Oxaliplatin versus 5-Fluorouracil in the Neoadjuvant Chem.radiation for Patients with Locally Advanced Rectal Carcinom.: A Com.arative Study

Aim.of work: This study aim.d to evaluate the resectability rate, rate of conservative surgery, toxicity, local control, and disease free survival for oxaliplatin and capecitabine based chem.radiation com.ared to standard 5-FU based chem.radiation in locally advanced cancer rectum. Patients and m.thods: 65 patients were eligible;33 patients received oxaliplatin and capecitabine based chem.radiation (arm.I) and 32 patients received 5-FU based chem.radiation (arm.II). Results: The overall response rate in arm. I and II were 78.7% and 87.5% respectively. Conservative surgery was done in 81.81% and 53.13% of patients with arm. I and II, pathologic com.lete response (pCR) rate was significantly better in arm.I than arm.II (30.3% vs. 21.9%, P m. I, II respectively;the m.dian disease free survival (DFS) were 30 m.nths and 15 m.nths in arm. I and II respectively. Grade III anem.a, grade IV diarrhea and severe proctitis were developed in a significantly large num.er of patients with arm.I;in addition deep venous throm.osis (DVT) was developed in 15.15% of patients with arm.I but none in arm.II. Conclusion: The addition of oxaliplatin to the preoperative chem. radiation increased the response rate m.inly pCR rate which was considered a target goal in the neoadjuvant treatm.nt, but it was not recom.ended because of higher toxicity and no significant effect on DFS in different response groups of arm.I when com.ared to arm.II, but longer follow up m.y be needed to evaluate the overall survival.

Effects of a low-radiotoxicity uranium.salt(uranyl acetate) on biochem.cal and hem.tological param.ters of the catfish,Clarias gariepinus

Specim.ns of Clarias gariepinus were treated with lethal(70,75,80,85,90,and 95 m./L) and sub-lethal concentrations(8,12 and 16 m./L) of uranyl acetate,a low-radiotoxicity uranium.salt. The LC 50 value was registered as 81.45 m./L. The protein and glycogen concentrations in liver and m.scles were decreased in the fish exposed to sub-lethal concentrations. The red blood cell(RBC) and white blood cell(WBC) counts,haem.globin(Hb) concentration and haem.tocrit(Hct) values were decreased. Different blood indices like m.an corpuscular volum.(m.V),m.an corpuscular haem.globin(m.H) and m.an corpuscular haem.globin concentration(m.HC) were negatively affected. Level of plasm. glucose was elevated whereas protein was decreased. The level of calcium.concentration(Ca) was declined in the blood of exposed fish whereas m.gnesium.m.) rem.ins unchanged. The activity level of glutam.c-oxaloacetic transam.nase(GOT) and glutam.c-pyruvic transam.nase(GPT) was elevated in exposed fish. These effects were m.re pronounced in the last period of exposure and in higher concentrations. Results of the present study indicate that uranyl acetate has adverse effects on C larias gariepinus and causes changes in the biochem.cal and hem.tological param.ters of the fish.

Selecting the m.st relevant subset of features from.a dataset is a vital step in data m.ning and m.chine *** feature in a dataset has 2n possible subsets,m.king it challenging to select the optim.m.collection of features using typical *** a result,a new m.taheuristicsbased feature selection m.thod based on the dipper-throated and grey-wolf optim.zation(DTO-GW)algorithm. has been developed in this *** can result when the selection of features is subject to m.taheuristics,which can lead to a wide range of ***,we adopted hybrid optim.zation in our m.thod of optim.zing,which allowed us to better balance exploration and harvesting chores m.re *** propose utilizing the binary DTO-GW search approach we previously devised for selecting the optim.l subset of *** the proposed m.thod,the num.er of features selected is m.nim.zed,while classification accuracy is *** test the proposed m.thod’s perform.nce against eleven other state-of-theart approaches,eight datasets from.the UCI repository were used,such as binary grey wolf search(bGWO),binary hybrid grey wolf,and particle swarm.optim.zation(bGWO-PSO),bPSO,binary stochastic fractal search(bSFS),binary whale optim.zation algorithm.bWOA),binary m.dified grey wolf optim.zation(bm.WO),binary m.ltiverse optim.zation(bm.O),binary bowerbird optim.zation(bSBO),binary hysteresis optim.zation(bHy),and binary hysteresis optim.zation(bHWO).The suggested m.thod is superior 4532 Cm.,2023,vol.74,no.2 and successful in handling the problem.of feature selection,according to the results of the experim.nts.
