Tailoring tire pore structure and surface ch.mistry of graph.ne-based laminates is essentially important for th.ir applications as separation membranes. Usually, pure graph.ne oxide （GO） and completely reduced GO （rGO） membranes suffer florn low water permeance because of th. lack of pristine graph.tic sp2 domains and very small interlayer spacing, respectively. In th.s work, we studied th. influence of reduction degree on th. structure and separation pertornrance of rGO membranes, tt was found th.t weak reduction retains th. good dispersion and h.droph.licity of GO nanosh.ets. More importantly, it increases th. number of pristine graph.tic sp2 domains in rGO nanosh.ets wh.le keeping th. large interlayer spacing of th. GO membranes in most regions at th. same time. Th. resultant mernbranes sh.w a h.gh.water permeance of 56.3 L m^-2 h. -1 bar^ -1, wh.ch.is about 4 times and over 10^4 times larger tban th.se of th. GO and completely reduced rGO membranes, respectively, and h.gh.rejection over 95700 for various dyes. Furth.rmore, th.y sh.w better structure stability and more superior separation perfor- mance th.n GO membranes in acid and alkali environments.

Th.s paper reported a novel coating approach.to deposit a （h.） film on Ti6Al4V alloy with.Al2O3 buffer layer for th.n, crack free and nano-structured h.droxyapatite biomedical implants. Th. Al2O3 buffer layer was deposited by plasma spraying wh.le th. h. top layer was applied by dip coating tech.ique. Th. X-ray diffraction （XRD） and Raman reflections of alumina buffer layer sh.wed α- to γ-Al2O3 ph.se transformation; and th. fractograph.c analysis of th. sample revealed th. formation of columnar grains in well melted splats. Th. bonding strength.between Al2O3 coating and Ti6Al4V substrate was estimated to be about 40 MPa. Th. presence of dip coated h. layer was confirmed using XRD, scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX） analysis. Th. SEM images exh.bited th.t h. top layer enveloped h.mogenously th. trough. and crests of th. underneath.rough.（Ra = 2.91 μm） Al2O3 surface. It is believed th.t th. novel coating approach.adopted migh. render th. implant suitable for rapid cement-less fixation as well as biocompatible for longer periods.

Th. present work studies water deterioration, fish.survival and production as a result of effluents disch.rged directly with.ut prior treatments into lake Qaroun at Fayoum governorate, Egypt. Lake Qaroun represents h.avily polluted wild h.bitat for both.studied fish.species, Tilapia zillii and Solea aegyptiaca, th. most abundant species. Results revealed deterioration in water quality (low dissolved oxygen but h.gh.ammonia, nitrite, copper, lead and cadmium) of North.astern sector wh.re El-Bats drain disch.rge its effluents with.ut prior treatment followed by th.t of eastern sector at four km from th. point of El-Bats disch.rge. Water salinity and dissolved oxygen values were in th. following order: Western lake Qaroun sector > Eastern lake Qaroun sector > North.astern lake Qaroun sector. h.wever, Ammonia and nitrite readings were in th. following order: North.astern sector of Lake Qaroun is followed by th. Eastern sector, th.n th. Western sector. Moreover, results of th. present field study revealed a decrease in fish.production with.th. lowest condition factor and a deterioration in meat quality (an increase in muscle water content and ash.but a decrease total protein and total lipids) in case of fish.collected from th. polluted sites along th. lake (North.astern and eastern sectors). h.wever, fish.collected from th. unpolluted western sector of th. lake sh.wed condition factor and ch.mical muscle composition more or less similar to normal h.alth. fish.

Th. study of th. nutritive value of Cowpea (Vigna ungiculata L.) legume seed is needed, as th.s legume is a food source in many developing countries. Wh.le Cowpea Flour (WCF), Deh.lled Defatted Cowpea Flour (DDCF), and Cowpea Protein Isolates (CPI) prepared using Isoelectric meth.d (CPII) and using Micellization meth.d (CPIM) are studied. In proximate analysis, th. protein content of WCF, DDCF, CPIA and CPIB was found to be 22.3, 26.7, 750 and 76.0 g/100 g, respectively. Net protein value (NPV) was 17.62 for DDCF. Ch.mical score was 0.66% for DDCF and 112%, 104% for CPII and CPIM, respectively. Th. first limiting amino acid was cystine for DDCF and th.eonine for CPII and CPIM. Meth.onine was found to be th. most concentrated essential amino acid in both.CPII and CPIM;values were 27.22 and 30.60 g/16 g N, respectively, wh.le lysine was th. most abundant essential amino acid in DDCF (4.28 g/16 g N). Essential amino acids of CPIi and CPIM were 22.99 and 15.78 g/16 g N respectively, h.gh.r th.n FAO/Wh. reference.

Increasing land reclamation in El-Fayoum governorate has led to increase the amount of drainage water that discharged without prior treatments to two main drains, El-Wadi and El-Bats drainages loaded by salts and heavy metals. So, the present investigation aims to evaluate quality of water samples collected from a branch of the river Nile (El-Lahon canal) and the main drains (El-Bats and El-Wadi) at Fayoum governorate on some biomarkers of the Nile catfish;Clarias gariepinus inhabiting the studied degradable aquatic habitats. Water and nighty fish samples colleted from the different studied sites of collection by the help of fishermen for physicochemical analyes of water and fish biochemical analyses and histopathological alteration. Results revealed highly significant differences at P ≤ 0.01 with the highest water ammonia, nitrite, heavy metals (Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd) and lowest dissolved oxygen content accompanied by metals bioaccumulation in vital organs of fish collected from the main drains (El-Bats and El-Wadi) in comparision with that collected from the studied branch of the river Nile. Higher bioaccumulation of the studied heavy metals in gills, liver, kidney and muscles of Clarias gariepinus collected from the main drains significant increase in serum glucose, liver and kidney functions, disturbance in protein profile of fish collected from the studied main drains than that of fish collected from the river Nile branch, El-Lahon that showed more or less normal values.
