AIM:To examine cytokeratin-18(CK-18) and caspasecleaved CK-18 expression in tumours and correlate with clinicopathological outcomes including tumour regression grade(TrG) ***:Formalin-fixed human gastro-oesophageal cancers were constructed into tissue *** first set consisted of 122 gastric/gastro-oesophageal cancer cases not exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy and the second set consisted of 97 gastric/gastrooesophageal cancer cases exposed to pre-operative platinum-based *** of CK-18 and caspase-cleaved CK-18 was investigated using ***:CK18 was commonly expressed in gastrooesophageal tumours(92.6%).Fifty-six point seven percent of tumours previously exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy were positive for caspase-cleaved CK-18 expression compared to only 24.6% of tumours not previously exposed to neoadjuvant chemotherapy(P = 0.009).In patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy,caspase-cleaved cytokeratin-18 expression correlated with favourable TrG response(TrG 1,2 or 3,P = 0.043).CONCLUSION:This is the largest study to date of CK-18 and caspase-cleaved CK-18 expression in gastrooesophageal *** provide the first evidence that caspase-cleaved CK-18 predicts tumour regression with neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Catalytic upgrading of bio-oil from halophyte seeds into transportation fuels

Characteristics, management, and outcome of squamous carcinoma of the conjunctiva in a single tertiary cancer center in Jordan

AIM： To evaluate the features and outcome of management of malignant conjunctival squamous tumors in King Hussein Cancer Center（a referral tertiary cancer center in the Middle East）. METHODS： retrospective case series of 31 eyes for 31 patients with conjunctival squamous neoplasia. Main outcome measures included： age, gender, laterality, tumor location, pathological features, tumor stage, treatment modality, and outcome. rESULTS： Twenty（65%） patients were males and median age was 58 y. Twenty-two（71%） eyes had the tumor in the nasal quadrant. Tumor invasion to nearby structures was seen in 19（61%） eyes, including the cornea, fornix, eyelid, and orbit in 17（55%）, 1（3%）, 2（6%）, and 3（10%） eyes, respectively. Eye salvage was achieved by surgical excision with cryotherapy followed by topical chemotherapy in 28（90%） eyes, and orbital exenteration was necessary in 3（10%） eyes due to orbital tumor invasion. Tumor recurrence was seen in 7（23%） eyes, and the significant predictive factors for recurrence were tumor extension onto the nearby structures（P=0.04）, tumor invasiveness（P=0.038）, and tumor TNM stage（P=0.031）. No significant change in visual acuity was seen, and disease related mortality was 6%（2 patients, both had orbital invasion by invasive squamous carcinoma）. CONCLUSION： Conjunctival squamous carcinoma is more common in males. Advanced American Joint Committee on Cancer（AJCC） T-stage, tumor local invasion, more pathologically aggressive tumors, and surgical treatment alone（without adjuvant therapy） are associated with higher risk for recurrence, and orbital invasion is the most important poor prognostic factor for metastasis and death. Treatment strategies should be affected by tumor characteristics at presentation.

随着能源价格和消费的变化,许多家庭电费将增加每月账单的负担。许多国家希望智能电力监控和智能电力控制器能够在智能城市和普通家庭中使用。在炎热的沙漠气候等气象条件下,使用双重或三重夏季空调时,耗电量会对家庭生活有一定影响,比如大量电费的产生。建筑中的能源管理系统(EMS)一直是自动需求侧管理(DSM)的主要方法之一。这些能源管理系统将提高负载灵活性。对于EMS来说,要有效地工作,首先必须了解可用的供需情况,使供需相匹配,最大限度地减少从电网的进口和运营成本。能量预测技术对电力系统的调度和管理具有重要意义。能源预测是电力系统规划的重要组成部分,在调峰和市场评估中发挥着重要作用。因此,需求响应(Dr)已迅速发展成为智能电网的一项重要功能。因此,根据时间范围进行预测非常重要。本研究的目的是通过探索性数据分析(EDA)方法分析天气对智能家庭电表调查数据的影响,并设计一个有效的用电预测模型。在本研究中,我们提出了一种基于机器学习(ML)的时间序列算法,该算法使用智能家居负荷数据来预测电力消耗。此外,探索和分析家用电器的能源消耗曲线。为了建立这个模型,我们使用了与网站(Kaggle)上提供的智能仪表(intelligent instrument)数据相关的数据集。该数据集包含超过350天的家用电器天气信息。Python(Jupiter Notebook)被用作数据清理、数据预处理、预测模型实现和输出结果可视化的工具。在预测模型中,我们使用不同的机器学习算法来预测能源消耗,包括随机森林(rF)回归、长期短期记忆(LSTM)和Catboost回归。数据分为80%的训练组和20%的测试组。使用确定系数r2、平均绝对误差(MAE)、均方误差(MSE)和均方根误差(rMSE)对模型进行评估。最后,与LSTM和Catboost相比,rF回归器的预测结果得到了最好的结果,相关系数为0.97。研究结果为建立智能化城市智能电耗监测仪的最终目标提供了良好的基础,并最终帮助家庭根据气候条件调整和使用大部分耗电设备,减少普通家庭的电费。

Phase-field modeling of void evolution and swelling in materials under irradiation

Void swelling is an important phenomenon observed in both nuclear fuels and cladding materials in operating nuclear reactors. In this work we develop a phase-field model to simulate void evolution and void volume change in irradiated materials. Important material processes, including the generation of defects such as vacancies and self-interstitials, their diffusion and annihilation, and void nucleation and evolution, have been taken into account in this model. The thermodynamic and kinetic properties, such as chemical free energy, interfacial energy, vacancy mobility, and annihilation rate of vacancies and interstitials, are expressed as a function of temperature and/or defect concentrations in a general manner. The model allows for parametric studies of critical void nucleus size, void growth kinetics, and void volume fraction evolutions. Our simulations demonstrated that void swelling displays a quasi-bell shape distribution with temperature often observed in experiments.

High mir-196a levels promote the oncogenic phenotype of colorectal cancer cells

AIM: To analyze the relevance of the microrNA mir-196a for colorectal oncogenesis. METHODS: The impact of mir-196a on the restriction targets HoxA7, HoxB8, HoxC8 and HoxD8 was analyzed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCr) after transient transfection of SW480 cancer cells. The mir-196a transcription profile in colorectal cancer samples, mucosa samples and diverse cancer cell lines was quantifi ed by rT-PCr. Transiently mir-196a-transfected colorectal cancer cells were used for diverse functional assays in vitro and for a xenograft lung metastasis model in vivo. rESULTS: HoxA7, HoxB8, HoxC8 and HoxD8 were restricted by mir-196a in a dose-dependent and gene-specific manner. High levels of mir-196a activated the AKT signaling pathway as indicated by increased phosphorylation of AKT. In addition, high levels of mir-196a promoted cancer cell detachment,migration, invasion and chemosensitivity towards platin derivatives but did not impact on proliferation or apoptosis. Furthermore, mir-196a increased the development of lung metastases in mice after tail vein injection. CONCLUSION: mir-196a exerts a pro-oncogenic influence in colorectal cancer.

Objective:To clarify the modulatory effects of daily consumption of pomegranate extract(PE),olive oil(OO)andNagilla sativaoil(NSO)on antioxidant activity,sperm quality and pituitary-testicular axis of adult male wistar ***:Thirty-two adult male Wistar rats were dividedinto four equal groups,eight rats *** rat gastric tubes,1.0 mL distilled water,1.0 mL PE,0.4mL NSO and 0.4 mL OO were orally administered daily for 6 weeks in the first,second,third andfourth groups,*** organs,body weight,sperm criteria,testosterone,FSH,LH,inhibin-B,lipid peroxidation,and antioxidant enzyme activities were *** the endof the study protocol,analyses occurred at the same *** were analysed by ANOVA test and Pred to be a significant ***:In all studied groups,malondialdehydelevel was significantly decreased accompanied with an increases in glutathione peroxidase *** treated with PE showed an increase in catalase activities accompanied withan increase in sperm concentration which was also observed in NSO *** PE treated group,sperm motility was also increased accompanied with decreased abnormal sperm ***,OOand PE treated groups shows an insignificant effect on testosterone,inhibin-B,FSH and LH incomparison with control ***:These results show that administration of PE,NSOand OO could modify sperm characteristics and antioxidant activity of adult male wistar rats.

The Pacing Effects on Myocardial Mechanics of the right Ventricle Using Two-Dimensional Strain Imaging

Objective: Our study aimed to assess the 6 months effect of right ventricular apical (rVA) pacing on rV longitudinal systolic strain (LSS) using two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D STE). Background: rVA pacing differs from the natural conduction through His-Purkinje fibers in having slower conduction velocity as well as altering the normal myocardial sequences of activation. Despite the fact that numerous studies have investigated the effects of rVA pacing on the LV, data on the effects on the rV function remain scarce. 2-D STE permits an objective and quantitative assessment of segmental and global myocardial function and has been validated against tagged MrI. We used 2-D STE to evaluate the rV LSS in response to rVA pacing. Methods: This case-control study was carried out on 60 subjects (30 patients implanted with DDD devices for 3rd degree AV block + 30 age and sex matched controls) in the period between February 2018 and February 2020 in the Cardiology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Menoufia University. The patients were evaluated 6 months after their implantation using conventional echo, M Mode, Doppler and 2D STE. 2D STE was used to identify the LSS of rV myocardial segments at the time of aortic valve closure. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS software v 20. results: results revealed that rVA pacing resulted in a statistically significant reduction of the global rV LSS in patients with DDD pacemakers vs controls (P Conclusion: rVA pacing reduces the rV free wall and the global rV LSS. Apical segments were the most affected.
