Investigating the relationship between crash severity,traffic barrier type,and vehicle type in crashes involving traffic barrier

Roadside safety is one of the important components of highway systems due to its considerable rate of high-severity *** barriers play a key role in reducing the crash severity and saving more lives on roadsides but choosing an inappropriate traffic barrier could decrease traffic barriers’*** paper investigated the variables affecting crash severity in different traffic barrier types(cable,guardrail,and rigid)and vehicle types(truck,and non-truck).For this purpose,an ordinal logistic regression approach was conducted on the crash data collected between 2007 and 2016 in *** to the results,different traffic barrier types show different relationships to crash severity based on posted speed limit at the *** guardrail segments,a high-severity crash is more likely when the posted speed limit is more than 55 mph;however,cable barrier crashes were less severe in high-speed limit(>55 mph)*** light vehicles were more vulnerable to crashes hitting rigid barriers,no significant difference was found between performances of cable and rigid barriers in terms of truck crash *** analytical models proposed in this study would make a clear view for designers and decision-makers in selecting the most appropriate traffic ***,the effective factors introduced in each model could be used to rank the risk posed by existing traffic barrier segments based on traffic barrier type,truck volume percentage,and other highway characteristics.

Screening of solanum surrattense for antibacterial,antifungal,phytotoxic and haemagglutination

OBJECTIVE： Plants produce a variety of useful bio- active materials that have been used to cure differ- ent ailments of human beings. With the same idea in mind, the crude methanolic extract and various fractions of Solanum surrattense were screened for antibacterial, antifungal, phytotoxic and heamag- glutination activities. METHODS： Standardized assays were followed for the determination of antibacterial, antifungal phy- totoxic and heamagglutination activity. RESULTS： The results of the antibacterial showed that crude methanolic extract was significantly ac- tive against Staphylococcus aureus （86%） The n- hexane fraction showed good activity against Pseu- domonas aerogenosa （66.6%） and Bacillus subtilus （66.6%）. The crude methanolic extract and various fractions were inactive against all test fungi. The crude methanolic extract, n-hexane, CHCI3 and aqueous fractions showed moderate phytotoxic ac- tivities of 46.67%, 40.00%, 33.34% and 33.34% re- spectively at 1000 pg/mL. The crude methanolic ex- tract and various fractions S. surrattense were un- able to aqqlutinate RBCs of the human blood indi-cating that this species lack phytolectins. CONCLUSION： The test sample showed significant antibacterial activity, no antifungal and heamagglu- tination activity while moderate phytotoxic was ob- served against Lemna minor L.

A numerical parameter mathematically derived from the graph structure is a topological *** topological index is the first actual choice in QSAR research and these indices are used to build the correlation model between the chemical structures of various chemicals ***,we investigate some old degree-based topological indices like Randic index,sum connectivity index,ABC index,GA index,1st and 2nd Zagreb indices,modified second Zagreb index,redefined version of 1st,2nd and 3rd Zagreb indices,hyper and augmented Zagreb indices,forgotten index and symmetric division degree index,and some new degree-based indices like SK index,SK1 index,SK2 index,and AG1 index of triangular chandelier-lattice(TCL).The results are generalized by using edge partition and closed formulas for topological indices of triangular chandelier-lattice are analysed.

Traditional wireless sensor networks(WSNs)are not suitable for rough terrains that are difficult or impossible to access by *** dust is a technology that works with the combination of many tiny sensors which is highly useful for obtaining remote sensing information from rough *** tiny sensors are sprinkled in large numbers on rough terrains using airborne distribution through drones or aircraftwithout manually setting their *** it is clear that a number of remote sensing applications can benefit from this technology,but the small size of smart dust fundamentally restricts the integration of advanced hardware on tiny *** raises many challenges including how to estimate the location of events sensed by the smart *** solutions on estimating the location of events sensed by the smart dusts are not suitable for monitoring rough terrains as these solutions depend on relay sensors and laser patterns which have their own limitations in terms of power constraint and uneven *** study proposes a novel machine learning based localization algorithm for estimating the location of *** approach utilizes timestamps(time of arrival)of sensed events received at base stations by assembling them into a multidimensional vector and input to a machine learning classifier for estimating the *** to the unavailability of real smart dusts,we built a simulator for analysing the accuracy of the proposed approach formonitoring forest *** experiments on the simulator show reasonable accuracy of the approach.

Performance of aerogel as a thermal insulation material towards a sustainable design of residential buildings for tropical climates in Nigeria

The building sector accounts for nearly 40%of global energy *** Nigeria,more than two-thirds of the consumption comes from residential *** efficiency measures through the adoption of insulation materials are tools that could crash the peak demand of energy in buildings while improving its thermal comfort and aerogel is considered as the most effective material for insulation,owing to its unique thermal *** this paper,we present the performance of aerogel as a thermal insulation material towards a sustainable design of residential buildings for tropical climates in ***,a typical residential building in the tropical region was modeled with conventional materials utilized in the region and was later modified through the application of aerogel material on various surfaces of the model.A whole building energy simulation was then carried out in each variation and the outcome was compared to effectively conclude on the significance of aerogel in terms of thermal comfort improvement and energy consumption *** show that aerogel had the highest influence when inserted in the attic and floor slabs of the designed model.A reduction of more than 6%was attained in the recorded indoor mean air and operative temperatures while still maintaining an acceptable humidity *** energy consumption,a reduction of more than 15%was ***,the high price of aerogel may hinder its application on the studied building but could be a good investment where climate change and sustainability are of high importance and less concern is given to *** demonstrated significant potential with respect to both thermal comfort improvement and energy consumption reduction on the designed *** outcome of the study is hoped to serve as a base reference for the insulation of residential buildings with similar climate and characteristics to the adopted case building.

Celiac disease in patients with presumed irritable bowel syndrome:A case-finding study

AIM:To estimate the prevalence of celiac disease(CD) in adult patients with presumed irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) .METHODS:Between March 2005 and December 2008,742 consecutive patients(293 male,median age 43 years,range 18-69 years) fulfilling the Rome Ⅱ criteria for IBS were prospectively enrolled in the *** was diagnosed via self-completed Rome Ⅱ modular ***-tissue transglutaminase(anti-tTG) serology was checked to initially recognize possible CD *** with a positive test were offered endoscopic duodenal biopsy to confirm the diagnosis of ***:Thirty two patients(15 male,median age 41 years,range 19-59 years) were found to have organic diseases other than *** four patients tested positive for anti-tTG antibodies,and duodenal biopsies confirmed the diagnosis in all of ***,in this patient population with presumed IBS,3.23% actually had ***:CD is common in patients with presumed *** screening for CD in patients with symptoms of IBS is recommended.

Efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapeutic interventions used in visceral leishmaniasis clinical trials:A systematic review and network meta-analysis

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety outcomes of different antileishmanial agents used in visceral leishmaniasis clinical ***:A systematic literature search in PubMed/MEDLINE,EMBASE,Cochrane,and Google Scholar was done using keywords“randomized controlled trials”,“antileishmanial”and“visceral leishmaniasis”.The outcomes included were cure rate,overall withdrawals,relapse rate,and treatment-emergent adverse *** estimates through the frequentist network meta-analysis approach were presented as OR with 95%*** plots were used for identifying the“best intervention”based on p-scores obtained using the surface under the cumulative *** risk of bias was evaluated by using Pedro ***:Seventeen randomized controlled trials with 5143 visceral leishmaniasis patients who received different antileishmanial agents(amphotericin B,miltefosine,paromomycin,meglumine antimoniate,sodium stibogluconate,sitamaquine,and pentavalent antimonials)and met the inclusion criteria were *** efficacy outcomes of the treatments,the rankogram of the network meta-analysis revealed that paromomycin(p-score=0.8148)has the highest probability of being best in the pool,followed by sodium stibogluconate(OR 0.82,95%CI 0.24-2.79,p-score=0.7580),amphotericin B+miltefosine(OR 0.66,95%CI 0.02-19.04,p-score=0.7329)as compared to the remaining treatments;however,the most of the treatment-emergent adverse events were reported with ***:Paromomycin reported the highest cure rates,while the maximum treatment-emergent adverse events were seen with sitamaquine.

The dispersion relation of torsional wave in a dissipative,incompressible cylindrical shell of infinite length incorporating initial stresses effects is *** governing equation and closed form solutions are derived with the aid of Biot’s *** velocity and damping of torsional wave are obtained analytically and the influences of dissipation and initial stresses are studied in *** proposed a new method for obtaining the phase and damping velocities of torsional wave in a complex *** results analyzing the torsional wave propagation incorporating initial stress effects are analyzed and presented in *** analytical and numerical solutions reveal that,the dissipation as well as the initial stresses have notable impacts on the phase velocity of torsional wave in a pre-stressed dissipative cylindrical *** numerical results reveal that,the initial stresses and dissipation,considerably,effect the phase velocity of the torsional *** has been observed that,any change in dissipation parameter(δ)produces a substantial change in damping velocity of torsional *** addition,it can be seen that,the phase velocity increases as the initial stress parameter ***,the result of numerical simulation illustrated the influence of dissipation and initial stresses on damping and phase velocities of torsional wave *** conclusion made shown the consistency with the Biot’s incremental deformation theory,and the effective on model such as engineering mechanics and displacement of particles.

ESSD: Energy Saving and Securing Data Algorithm for WSNs Security

The Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)are characterized by their widespread deployment due to low cost,but the WSNs are vulnerable to various types of *** defend against the attacks,an effective security solution is ***,the limits of these networks’battery-based energy to the sensor are the most critical impediments to selecting cryptographic ***,finding a suitable algorithm that achieves the least energy consumption in data encryption and decryption and providing a highly protected system for data remains the fundamental *** this research,the main objective is to obtain data security during transmission by proposing a robust and low-power encryption algorithm,in addition,to examining security algorithms such as ECC and MD5 based on previous *** this research,the Energy Saving and Securing Data algorithm(ESSD)algorithm is introduced,which provides the Message Digest 5(MD5)computation simplicity by modifying the Elliptic Curve Cryptography(ECC)under the primary condition of power *** three algorithms,ECC,MD5,and ESSD,are applied to Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy(LEACH)and Threshold-sensitive Energy Efficient Sensor Network Protocol(TEEN)hierarchical routing algorithms which are considered the most widely used in *** results of security methods under the LEACH protocol show that all nodes are dead at 456,496,and 496,respectively,to ECC,MD5,and *** results of security methods under the TEEN protocol show that the test ends at 3743,4815,and 4889,respectively,to ECC,MD5,and *** on these results,the ESSD outperforms better in terms of increased security and less power *** addition,it is advantageous when applied to TEEN protocol.
