Atrazine（ATZ） is a known herbicide used in agriculture and caused many concerns according to its ***,we have prepared NiCo2O4nanorods that can work as a photocatalyst under visible light exposure by Ag loading through a simple *** characterizations revealed the role of Ag for improving the structural,optical and optoelectronic properties of the produced *** Ag loading with 5 wt% confirms the minimization of the bandgap from 3.6 down to 2.57 eV with enhanced visible light absorption and sustaining the magnetic *** Ag/NiCo2O4nanorods showed a superior photodegradation of ATZ within 20 min at2.0 g L-1with excellent *** enhancement of the photocatalytic activity is referred to the local surface plasmon resonance of Ag-loaded *** reduces the electron-hole recombination and outperforms the unloaded *** work is highlighting the application of magnetically separable spinel photocatalysts for the removal of herbicides and water remediation.

Improving patient care and accuracy of given doses in radiation therapy using in vivo dosimetry verification

Objective This work aims to verify and improve the dose given for cancer patients in radiation therapy by using diodes to enhance patient in vivo dosimetry on a routine basis. Some characteristics of two available semi-conductor diode dosimetry systems were evaluated. Methods The diodes had been calibrated to read the dose at Dmax below the surface. Correction factors of clinical relevance were quantified to convert the diode readings into patient dose. The diode was irradiated at various gantry angles （increments of 45~）, various Field Sizes and various Source to Surface Distances （SSDs）. Results The maximal response variation in the angular response with respect to an arbitrary angle of 0~ was 1.9%, and the minimum variation was 0.5%. The response of the diode with respect to various field siz- es showed the minimum and the maximum variations in the measured dose from the diode; the calculated doses were -1.6% （for 5 cm x 5 cm field size） and 6.6% （for 40 cm x 40 cm field size）. The diode exhibited a significant perturbation in the response, which decreased with increasing SSD. No discrepancies larger than 5% were detected between the expected dose and the measured dose. Conclusion The results indicate that the diodes exhibit excellent linearity, dose reproducibility and minimal anisotropy; that they can be used with confidence for patient dose verification. Furthermore, diodes render real time verification of the dose delivered to patients.

Objective： This study aimed to evaluate of the accuracy and efficiency of the in-vivo dosimetry systems for routine cancer patient dose verification. Methods： In vivo dosimetry, using diodes and thermoluminescent dosimeters （TLD） is performed in many radiotherapy departments to verify the dose delivered during treatment. A total of 40 TLD divided into two batches （one of 20 and other of 20 TLD） were used. Different doses of Co6~ beam were delivered to the TLD chips at different depths. Diodes were irradiated at different depths in a （30 x 30 x 30） cm3 water slab phantom with various conditions of Field sizes, monitor units and SSDs. Results： The limitation of the in-vivo dosimetry technique is that dose can only be in system readout difficulty and type of readout （TLD system and diode） as the patient dose is directly measured. Several authors have investigated the measurements was 1.3%, with a standard deviation of 2.6%. Results were normally distributed around a mean as -0.39 and 0.34 respectively. After the evaluation of in vivo dosimetry brain case as an example, the mean doses for both eyes were 1.8%, with a standard deviation of 2.7%. These results are similar to studies conducted with diodes and TLD＇s. Conclusion： The diode is superior to TLD, since the diode measurements can be obtained on line and allows an immediate check. Other advantages of diodes include high sensitivity, good spatial resolution, and small size, simplicity of used.

AIM:To detect the quantitative expression levels of the pro-inflammatory interleukin-8(IL8),antimicrobial peptides human beta defense-2(HBD2),and human beta defense-3(HBD3)genes in bacterial ***:The human conjunctival epithelial cells were obtained using the impression cytology technique from healthy controls and *** genes expression levels were determined utilizing a reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction(RT-q PCR).The contribution of causative agent type,the number of isolates and severity of clinical features,in the increase of genes expression was also ***:The RT-q PCR showed that IL8,HBD2,and HBD3 expression increased in bacterial conjunctivitis as compared to healthy control(P<0.001).In gram-negative bacterial conjunctivitis,HBD2 was highly up-regulated(P<0.001)compared to other types of bacterial *** mixed bacterial conjunctivitis,a direct correlation between HBD2 up-regulation and HBD3 up-regulation was observed(P<0.05).The severity of clinical features was related to the up-regulation of IL8 and HBD2(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:IL8,HBD2,and HBD3 are immuneeffectors in infectious ***2 is active during different bacterial conjunctivitis but is more released with gram-negative bacteria compared to gram-positive ***3 is an obvious defender in different bacterial conjunctivitis.

In the Abu Rusheid area, Southeastern Desert of Egypt, polymineralized (HREEs, U, Zn and Pb) lam-prophyre dykes are recently recorded. The lamprophyre dykes cut cataclastic rocks along share zones in NNW-SSE trends. The secondary U-minerals are essentially represented by uranophane, kasolite, torbernite and autunite. Ex-perimental work was carried out on the lamprophyre dykes for the recovery of uranium and other valuable elements (e.g. Zn, Pb and Al) from 50 kg of technological sample. The optimum conditions were: 100 g/L sulfuric acid con-centration, 1:5 S/L (solid/liquid) and soaking for 15 days at room temperature. The leaching efficiencies for the re-covery of uranium and other elements like Al, Zn and Pb were 40, 33.6, 98.8 and 78, respectively.

AIM： To identify the trend, possible risk factors and any pattern change of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） in Egypt over a decade. METHODS： All HCC patients attending Cairo Liver Center between January 1993 and December 2002, were enrolled in the study. Diagnosis of HCC was based on histopathological examination and/or detection of hepatic focal lesions by two imaging techniques plus α-fetoprotein level above 200 ng/mL. The duration of the study was divided into two periods of 5 years each; period Ⅰ （1993-1997） and period Ⅱ （1998-2002）. Trend, demographic features of patients （age, gender, and residence）, risk factors （HBsAg, HCV-Ab, schistosomiasis and others） and pattern of the focal lesions were compared between the two periods. Logistic regression model was fitted to calculate the adjusted odds ratios for the potential risk factors. The population attributable risk percentage was calculated to estimate the proportion of HCC attributed to hepatitis B and C viral infections. RESULTS： Over a decade, 1 328 HCC patients out of 22 450 chronic liver disease （CLD） patients were diagnosed with an overall proportion of 5.9%. The annual proportion of HCC showed a significant rising trend from 4.0% in 1993 to 7.2% in 2002 （P = 0.000）. A significant increase in male proportion from 82.5% to 87.6% （P = 0.009）; M/F from 5：1 to 7：1 and a slight increase of the predominant age group （40-59 years） from 62.6% to 66.8% （P = 0.387）in periods Ⅰ and Ⅱ respectively, reflecting a shift to younger age group. In the bivariate analysis, HCC was significantly higher in rural residents, patients with history of schistosomiasis and/or blood transfusion. Yet, after adjustment, these variables did not have a significant risk for development of HCC. There was a significant decline of HBsAg from 38.6% to 20.5% （P = 0.000）, and a slight increase of HCV-Ab from 85.6% to 87.9% in periods I and II respectively. Perovskite solar cells could strongly compete with the silicon solar cells in the market soon as illustrated in recent *** this work,promising and stable metal-free perovskite solar cells(PSCs)has been successfully fabricated using an inorganic SnO_(2)/Quantum dot SnO_(2)(QD-SnO_(2))double layer as an efficient electron transport layer via a low-temperature solution *** fully-air fabricated PSCs in the form of FTO/SnO_(2)/QD-SnO_(2)/CH3NH3PbI3/Carbon were tested at different annealed QD-SnO_(2) between 300 and 500℃.The as-prepared QD-SnO_(2) and the fabricated devices are characterized by various techniques,including XRD,XPS,HR-TEM,FE-SEM,UVeviseNIR spectroscopy,PL,and solar *** prepared QD-SnO_(2) at 300℃ has shown well-ordered nanoparticles of 5.6 nm in diameter with superior carrier density(1.5×10^(15) cm^(-3))and highest carrier mobility(64.1 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1)),accelerating the carriers separation process within the *** best devices demonstrated a maximum power conversion effi-ciency(PCE)of 11.7%,VOC 0.81 V,JSC 19.5 mA·cm^(-2),and FF 74%.The presence of an interfacial layer of QDSnO_(2) over the blocking SnO_(2) upsurges the band gaps alignment and accelerates the carriers extraction rate affecting the performance of the fabricated perovskite ***,the optimized fabricated devices revealed a shelf stability-life of four months in humid air(40%-50%)with>83%of its initial *** simple synthetic approach can develop the opportunities to transfer the cell from the lab to the market,which will be compatible with large-scale production.

AIM： To investigate the effects of mutations in domain Ⅲ of the hepatitis C virus （HCV） internal ribosome entry sequences （IRES） on the response of chronic HCV genotype 4a patients to interferon therapy.METHODS： HCV RNA was extracted from 19 chronic HCV 4a patients receiving interferon/ribavirin therapy who showed dramatic differences in their response to combination therapy after initial viral clearance. IRES domain Ⅲ was cloned and 15 clones for each patient were sequenced. The obtained sequences were aligned with genotype 4a prototype using the ClustaIW program and mutations scored. Prediction of stem-loop secondary structure and thermodynamic stability of the major quasispecies in each patient was performed using the MFOLD 3.2 program with Turner energies and selected constraints on base pairing.RESULTS： Analysis of RNA secondary structure revealed that insertions in domain Ⅲ altered WatsonCrick base pairing of stems and reduced molecular stability of RNA, which may ultimately reduce binding affinity to ribosomal proteins. Insertion mutations in domain - were statistically more prevalent in sustained viral response patients （SVR, n = 14） as compared to breakthrough （BT, n = 5） patients.CONCLUSION： The influence of mutations within domain Ⅲ on the response of HCV patients to combination therapy depends primarily on the position, but not the frequency, of these mutations within IRES domain Ⅲ.
