Ciliates are core components of the structure of and function of aquatic microbial food *** play an essential role in the energy flow and material circulation within aquatic ***,studies on the taxonomy and biodiversity of freshwater ciliates,especially those in wetlands in China are *** address this issue,a project to investigate the freshwater ciliates of the Lake Weishan Wetland,shandong Province,commenced in ***,we summarize our findings to date on the diversity of ciliates.A total of 187 ciliate species have been found,94 of which are identified to species-level,87 to genus-level,and six to *** species show a high morphological diversity and represent five classes,i.e.,Heterotrichea,Litostomatea,Prostomatea,Oligohymenophorea,and *** largest number of species documented are oligohymenophoreans.A comprehensive database of these ciliates,including morphological data,gene sequences,microscope slide specimens and a DNA bank,has been *** the present study,we provide an annotated checklist of retrieved ciliates as well as information on the sequences of published *** of these species are recorded in China for the first time and more than 20%are tentatively identified as new to ***,an investigation of environmental DNA revealed that the ciliate species diversity in Lake Weishan Wetland is higher than previously supposed.

Ciliated protists are highly differentiated unicellular eukaryotes that possess special sexual processes(conjugation and autogamy)that rely on their unique nuclear dimorphism,i.e.,the presence of both a germline micronucleus(MIC)and a somatic macronucleus(MAC)in a single *** sexual processes show a high diversity in different *** better understand the differentiation and evolution of sexual processes in closely related species,we investigated the nuclear events during conjugation in Paramecium jenningsi strain GZ,a poorly studied close relative of the well-known *** *** main results include:(1)the conjugation process takes about 48 h,including three prezygotic divisions(meiosis I,II,and mitosis)and three postzygotic divisions;(2)the MICs are dominated by the“parachute”phase at the prophase of meiosis I;(3)after meiosis II,a variable number of nuclei undergo the third prezygotic division,and the two products near the paroral cone become the genetically identical migratory and stationary pronuclei;(4)the synkaryon divides three times to form the MIC and the MAC anlagen,but only one nuclear product of the first postzygotic division completes the next two divisions;and(5)an extra cell division is required to complete the last step of conjugation,during which two MIC anlagen undergo mitotic division while two MAC anlagen are distributed between the daughter cells without *** comparison of the nuclear events during conjugation in representatives of the class Oligohymenophorea reveals that usually there are three prezygotic divisions and a variable number of postzygotic ***,the number of selected and differentiated nuclei after each division differs among *** study provided a new model ciliate for further investigations of nuclear selection and differentiation as well as nuclear morphology during meiosis.

Thiswork investigates an oblique stagnation point flowof hybrid nanofluid over a rigid surface with power lawfluidas lubricated layers. Copper (Cu) and silver (Ag) solid particles are used as hybrid particles acting in water H2O asa base fluid. The mathematical formulation of flow configuration is presented in terms of differential systemthat isnonlinear in nature. The thermal aspects of the flow field are also investigated by assuming the surface is a heatedsurface with a constant temperature T. Numerical solutions to the governing mathematical model are calculatedby the RK45 algorithm. The results based on the numerical solution against various flow and thermal controllingparameters are presented in terms of line graphs. The specific results depict that the heat flux increases over thelubricated-indexed parameter.

Comparative analysis on the performance of different types of input-and command-shaping controllers in minimizing payload residual vibration of an overhead crane with an inclined supporting track

Reducing the effects of external disturbance on overhead crane systems is crucial,as they can impair the controller performance and cause excessive vibrations or oscillations of the *** such external disturbance is the inclination of the supporting track of the crane trolley,which causes the system dynamics model to *** open-loop control strategy is widely utilized to control the payload sway motion and generally does not require any alterations in the physical structure of a system or the installation of sensors and/or *** and command shaping are two common open-loop control techniques applied to control overhead *** this paper,the effect of moving an overhead crane system along an inclined supporting track is *** addition,the ability of different types of input-and command-shaping control schemes to suppress the residual vibrations due to trolley track inclination is *** types of input-shaping controllers,which are double-step,zero vibration,and one command waveform(WF)shaper based on a trigonometric function,are used and tested.A linear equation of motion of the overhead crane resting on an inclined surface is developed to simulate the overhead crane and payload *** effectiveness of the different types of open-loop controllers to suppress residual vibrations is verified by both simulation and experimental *** addition,a new WF command shaper is proposed and designed to overcome track inclination while eliminating payload residual vibration.A comprehensive comparative analysis,both numerically and experimentally,is performed on the new proposed shaper to measure its effectiveness in handling inclination when compared to other types of open-loop *** new shaper outperforms other controllers in eliminating payload residual vibration for a wider range of inclination angles.

The sandstones of the Late miocene–Pliocene Dibdibba Formation in the Najaf–Karbala Plateau and Basra were examined to determine their source rocks and origin. The rare earth elements(REE) and trace elements(sc, Co, V, and Th) concentrations in these sandstones revealed that they likely derived from a single source. The steep light rare earth elements(LREE) and flat, heavy rare earth element(HREE) patterns, negative Eu anomaly, and high ΣREE contents in sandstones suggest its derivation from a suggests that a passive continental margin environment and originated from felsic source rocks. The average concentration of ΣREE is 93.5 ppm, which is lower than that of the average crustal compositions like Upper Continental Crust and Post Archean Australian shale. The higher proportion of LREE compared to HREE implies that these sandstones were recycled and derived from a distal source. The Th/Co, Th/sc, La/sc, La/Co, Eu/Eu*and(La/Lu)cn elemental ratios indicated that these Late Miocene–Pliocene sandstones were derived from felsic rocks located in the marginal region of the Arabian shield.
