Water dispersible silver nanoparticles（AgNps） were prepared using thiacalix[4]arene tetrahydrazide（TCTH） as a reducing and stabilizing ***-AgNps were characterized by surface plasmon resonance（SPR）,transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and energy dispersive X-ray（EdX）.Relatively uniform 20 nm spherical particles of TCTH-AgNps were efficiently formed over a pH range of 5-9 and from 10-40 ℃.The interaction behavior of TCTH-AgNps with different amino acids was investigated using spectrophotometry and *** the amino acids tested,only tryptophan and histidine showed fluorescence quenching and fluorescence enhancement,*** linear detection range by Stern-Volmer plot was 5 nmol/L to 0.48 μmol/L for tryptophan and 4 nmol/L to 0.54 μmol/L for ***-AgNps were able to effectively reduce the levels of gram-positive bacteria,gram-negative bacteria,and *** properties argue for the potential use of TCTH-AgNps as detectors of histidine and tryptophan and as antibiotics.

The characteristics of 48 rice varieties from Uttarakhand Himalaya, India were detected by morphological and biochemical markers. The grains of the selected rice varieties varied in their morphological （grain length, grain width and grain weight） and biochemical characters （sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, SdS-PAGE）. Based on the presence of 70, 65, 60, 57, 37-39, 22-23, 13 and 10 kda protein bands in the 48 rice varieties, seven types of profiles were identified. An unweighted pair group average method with arithmetic mean （UPGMA） dendrogram based on cluster analysis of genetic similarity of the protein bands showed two distinct groups with 1%-78% similarity coefficients. The presence of characteristic bands in selected varieties is a useful parameter for identification of rice germplasm.

A simple and quick method for the synthesis of water dispersible stable silver nanoparticles has been developed. Calix[4]pyrrole octahydrazide （CPOH）, has been successfully used as a reducing as well as stabilizing agent for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. CPOH-AgNps have been duly characterized by SPR, PSA, TEM and EdX-ray. The ability of CPOH-AgNps as selective and sensitive sensor for various ions （Pb（Ⅱ）, Cd（II）, Mn（Ⅱ）, Fe（Ⅲ）, Ni（Ⅱ）, Zn（Ⅱ）, Hg（Ⅱ）, Co（Ⅱ）, Cu（Ⅱ）） by colorimetry and spectrofluorimetry has been explored. CPOH-AgNps were found to be selective only for Hg（Ⅱ） ions. Nanomolar concentration of Hg（Ⅱ） ions can also be determined by spectrofluorimetry by increase in fluorescence intensity. Linear range of detection of Hg（Ⅱ） ions in water was found to be from 1nmol/L to mol/L. The method has been successfully applied for determination of Hg（Ⅱ） ions in ground water and industrial effluent waste water samples.

It is well known that diabetes Specific Nutritional Supplements (dSNSs) are linked to improved glycemic control in individuals with diabetes. However, data on efficacy of dSNSs in prediabetics is limited. This was a two-armed, open-labelled, randomized controlled six-week study on 199 prediabetics [30 - 65 years;Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) 5.7% - 6.4% and/or Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) 100-125 mg/dl]. Two parallel phases were conducted: Acute Blood Glucose Response (ABGR) and Intervention phase. Prediabetic participants were randomized into test (n = 100) and control (n = 99). The primary objective was to assess the ABGR of dSNS versus an isocaloric snack, measured by incremental Area under the Curve (iAUC). Test and control received 60 g of dSNS and 56 g of isocaloric snack (cornflakes) respectively, both in 250 ml double-toned milk on visit days 1, 15, 29 and 43. Postprandial Blood Glucose (PPG) was estimated at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 minutes. during the 4 weeks intervention phase, the test group received dSNS with lifestyle counselling (dSNS + LC) and was compared with the control receiving lifestyle counselling alone (LC alone). Impact was studied on FBG, HbA1C, anthropometry, body composition, blood pressure, nutrient intake, and physical activity. The impact of dSNS was also studied using CGM between two 14-day phases: CGM1 baseline (days 1 - 14) and CGM2 endline (days 28 - 42). dSNS showed significantly lower PPG versus isocaloric snack at 30 (p 12, and chromium were reported by dSNS + LC versus LC alone. No other significant changes were reported between groups. It may be concluded that dSNS may be considered as a snack for prediabetic or hyperglycemic individuals requiring nutritional support for improved glycemic control.

Gastroschisis and omphalocele are the two most common congenital defects of the anterior abdominal *** etiologies remain unclear,but while gastroschisis is associ-ated with young maternal age,maternal smoking,maternal alcohol and illicit drug use during pregnancy omphalocele is frequently associated with genetic disorders and other congenital anomalies[1].The incidence of gastroschisis in the United States(US)has increased with an estimated inci-dence of 4.6 per 10,000 live births(LB)between 2010 and 2014[2].A recent study capturing information on 20%of infants admitted to neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)in the US showed a decrease in gastroschisis hospitalizations while that of omphalocele remained stable[3].However,it lacks generalizability[3].Our aim was to provide updated trends of gastroschisis and omphalocele hospitalizations in the US between 2010 and 2018 using population-based and nationally representative databases.

With increasing incidence of diabetes, use of diabetes specific nutrition supplements (dSNS) is common for better management of the disease. To study effect of 12-week dSNS supplementation on glycemic markers, anthropometry, lipid profile, SCFAs, and gut microbiome in individuals with diabetes. Markers studied were glycemic [Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), Post Prandial Glucose (PPG), HbA1c, Incremental Area under curve (iAUC), Mean Amplitude of Glycemic Excursions (MAGE), Time in/above Range (TIR/TAR)], anthropometry [weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference (WC)], lipid profile, diet and gut health [plasma short chain fatty acids (SCFAs)]. N = 210 adults were randomized to receive either dSNS with standard care (dSNS + SC;n = 105) or standard care alone (SC alone;n = 105). After 12 weeks, significant differences between dSNS + SC versus SC alone was observed in FBG [−3 ± 6 vs 14 ± 6 mg/dl;p = 0.03], PPG [−35 ± 9 vs −3 ± 9 mg/dl;p = 0.01], weight [−0.6 ± 0.1 vs 0.2 ± 0.1 kg;p = 0.0001], BMI [−0.3 ± 0.1 vs 0.1 ± 0.1 kg/m2;p = 0.0001] and WC [−0.3 ± 0.2 vs 0.2 ± 0.2 cm;p = 0.01]. HbA1C and low-density lipoprotein (LdL) were significantly reduced in dSNS + SC [−0.2 ± 0.9;p = 0.04 and −5 mg/dl;p = 0.03] respectively with no change in control. Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) reported significant differences between dSNS + SC versus SC alone for mean glucose [−12 ± 65 vs 28 ± 93 mg/dl;p dl;p = 0.04], TAR 250 [−3 ± 27 vs 9 ± 38 mg/dl;p = 0.05], iAUC [−192 (1.1) vs −48 (1.1) mg/dl;p = 0.03]. Synthetic resin, Amberlite XAd-4 was linked covalently with the third generation supramolecule, octa-O-methoxy resorcin [4] arene through -N=N-group to form chelating resin, which has been characterized and effectively used for the separation and preconcentration of metal ions such as Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II). Critical parameters such as pH, flow rate, sorption capacity, breakthrough studies, distribution coefficient, preconcentration factor, concentration of eluting agents responsible for quantitative extraction of metal ions were optimized. The synthesized resin showed good binding affinity towards Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) under selective pH conditions. Good breakthrough capacity and fast exchange kinetics of the resin lead to effective separation of metal ions from their binary and ternary mixture by column method on the basis of pH and eluting agents. The resin could be reused for about 8 -10 cycles. The proposed method having the analytical data with the relative standard deviation (RSd) 2% and with recoveries of analytes higher than 98%, reflects upon the reproducibility and reliability of the method which has been successfully applied in the separation and determination of Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) ions in synthetic, natural and ground water samples.

The sensitivity of rat anococcygeus muscle to noradrenaline (NA) was reduced following carbon disulphide (CS2) pretreatment. Preparations incubated in excess Ca++ (4.2 mrnol-L-1) or Zero Ca++ (***-L-1) media showed decrease in sensitivity to NA. Reserpinization failed to induce supersensitivity to NA in any Mg+ + concentration in the media. Reserpinized tissue in Mg++ free media with EdTA showed increased sensitivity while decreased sensitivity and maximum response to NA in Mg+ + (1.2 mmol-L-1) and excess Mg+ + (3.6mmol-1 ') concentration of the medium. In the presence of EdTA, the inhibition observed with CS2 in excess Mg+ + (3.6m mol-L-1') medium was comparatively much less in both non-reserpinized and reserpinized preparations. In normal Ca++ and its deficient medium decrease in sensitivity to CS2 and the relevant maximum response to NA were observed. In excess Ca + +, the CS2 effect depressed corresponding to its maximal response to NA. Thus CS2 may be inhibiting responses to NA by interfering with Ca+ + utilization.

Apple(Malus × domestica) is largely known for polyphenolic and antioxidant properties; however, systematic investigation in the apple growing in the Indian Himalayan region is not carried out. The present study therefore, attempts to quantify polyphenolics and antioxidant activities in three traditional apple cultivars namely 'Benoni', 'Fanny' and 'Rymer' growing at different locations of Uttarakhand(west Himalaya), *** revealed that phenolic(0.94–7.00 mg GAE·g^(-1)FW), flavonoid(1.02–9.86 mg QE·g^(-1)FW), flavonol(0.77–6.92 mg CE·g^(-1) FW), tannin(15.49–37.99 mg TAE·g^(-1) FW) and antioxidant activity(ABTS, 3.10–67.36; dPPH, 4.99–14.06; FRAP, 4.70–39.21 mmol AAE·kg^(-1)FW) varied significantly among the cultivars and maximum content was recorded in Rymer fruits of Mukhwa location. Altitude showed significant(P d(r = 0.843), flavonol(r = 0.812), ABTS(r = 0.856) and FRAP activity(r = 0.830). Based on the results, it is concluded that among three cultivars, Rymer is one of the most promising sources of polyphenolic content and antioxidant activity and therefore, recommended for mass plantation at suitable locations in Uttarakhand for harnessing maximum potential.
