Cloning and characterization of Methoprene-tolerant(Met)and Kruppel homolog 1(Kr-h1)genes in the wheat blossom midge,Sitodiplosis mosellana

Juvenile hormone(JH),a growth regulator,inhibits ecdysteroid-induced meta-morphosis and controls insect development and ***-tolerant(Met)and Krippel homolog I(Kr-h1)are two proteins involved in JH *** gain some insight into their function in development of Sitodiplosis mosellana,an insect pest undergoing obligatory larval diapause at the mature 3rd instar stage,we cloned full-length complemen-tary DNAs of Met and Kr-h1 from this *** encoded a putative protein,which contained three domains typical of the bHLH-PAS family and eight conserved amino acid residues important for JH ***-h1 encoded a protein showing high sequence homology to its counterparts in other specics,and contained all eight highly conserved Zn-finger motifs for *** patterns of SmMet and SmKr hl were de-velopmentally regulated and JH III responsive as *** mRNA abundance increased as larvae entered carly 3rd instar,pre-diapause and maintenance stages,and peaked during post-diapause quiescence,a pattern correlated with JH titers in this *** from reduced expression of SmMer,SmKr-h1 mRNA increased at mid-to-late period of post-diapause *** application of JH II on diapausing larvac also induced the two genes in a dose-dependent *** of SmuMer and SmKr-h1 clearly declined in the pre-pupal phase,and was significantly higher in female adults than male *** results suggest that JH-responsive SmMet and SmKr-h1 might play key roles in diapause induction and maintenance as well as in post-diapause quiescence and adult reproduction,whereas metamorphosis from larvae to pupac might be correlated with their reduced expression.

Effects of environmental contaminants on fertility and reproductive health

Recent research indicates that the human infertility rate is increasing. Although various reasons have been hypothesized for the growing infertility rate, environmental contaminants are potentially important causal agents associated with this *** contaminants are widespread throughout our environment and human exposure is virtually unavoidable. The overall contribution of environmental exposure to infertility is unknown, but studies involving occupational exposure, together with results from animal experiments, suggest that environmental contaminants may adversely affect fertility. We reviewed the adverse effects of environmental exposure on fertility and related reproductive outcomes. Environmental contaminants covered in this review include heavy metals, organic solvents, pesticides and endocrine disrupting chemicals. It is hoped that this review will highlight the need for further research in this area.

Wide‑field swept‑source OCT angiography of the periarterial capillary‑free zone before and after anti‑VEGF therapy for branch retinal vein occlusion

Background:The aim of the study was to investigate the changes in the periarterial capillary-free zone(paCFZ)after anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)therapy in patients with branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO)by widefield swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography(SS-OCTA)and assess their associations with clinical ***:In this retrospective observational study of 54 treatment-naive BRVO patients with macular edema,we reviewed the findings of 12×12 mm^(2)SS-OCTA at baseline,3,6,and 12 months after intravitreal ranibizumab *** paCFZ and major retinal artery areas were measured on SS-OCTA *** paCFZ area to artery area(P/A)ratio was ***:The paCFZ areas and P/A ratios of first-and second-order arteries were significantly greater in BRVO eyes than in contralateral eyes(all P<0.01),but there were no differences in the first-and second-order artery areas(P=0.20 and 0.25,respectively).The paCFZ areas and P/A ratios decreased significantly at 3,6,and 12 months after anti-VEGF therapy(all P<0.01).The baseline P/A ratio was significantly correlated with the baseline best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central retinal thickness,and their improvements at 3,6,and 12 months(all P<0.05).Baseline BCVA and P/A ratios of first-and second-order arteries were independently associated with the final BCVA in multivariate linear ***:Wide-field SS-OCTA shows that anti-VEGF therapy can lead to a significant improvement in the paCFZ parameters in *** baseline P/A ratios on SS-OCTA tend to predict better visual outcomes at 12 months after anti-VEGF therapy.

Molecular and functional characterization of three odorant-binding proteins from the wheat blossom midge,Sitodiplosis mosellana

Sitodiplosis mosellana,a periodic but devastating wheat pest,relies on wheat spike volatiles as a cue in sclecing hosts for *** odorant-binding proteins(OBPs)are thought to play essential roles in filtering,binding and transporting hydropho-bic odorant molecules to specific *** date,the molecular mechanisms underlying *** olfaction are poorly ***,three *** antenna-specific OBP genes,SmosOBPII,16 and 21,were cloned and bacterially *** properties of the recombinant proteins to 28 volatiles emitted from wheat spikes were in-vestigated using fluorescence competitive binding *** analysis suggested that these SmosOBPs belong to the Classic OBP ***-binding analysis showed that all three SmosOBPs preferentially bound alcohol,ester and ketone com-pounds,and SmosOBP11 and 16 also selectively bound terpenoid *** par-ticular,the three SmosOBPs had high binding affinities(Ki<20μmol/L)to 3-hexanol and cis-3-hexenylacetate that elicited strong electroantennogram(EAG)response fromfemale *** addition,SmosOBP11 displayed significantly higher binding(Ki<8μmo/L)than SmosOBP16 and 21 to l-octen-3-ol,D-panthenol,a-pinene and heptyl acetate which elicited significant EAG response,suggesting that SmosOBP11 plays a ma-jor role in recognition and transportation of these *** findings have provided important insight into the molecular mechanism by which *** specifically rec-ognizes plant volatiles for host selection,and have facilitated identification of effective volatile attractants that are potentially useful for pest monitoring and trapping.

Removal of Anionic Dyes from Aqueous Solution with Layered Cationic Aluminum Oxyhydroxide

It is highly desired yet challenged to find an adsorbent with low cost and excellent performance in the removal of organic dyes from aqueous solution. Here we reported that a layered cationic aluminum oxyhydroxide material hydrothermally synthesized from the low-cost source materials of AlCl_(3)·6H_(2)O, CaO and H_(2)O, known as JU-111, can meet such criterion in removing methyl orange(MO) and Congo red(CR). JU-111 shows fast adsorption kinetics[especially for CR(15 s)] and high adsorption capacity(MO: >1000 mg/g;CR: >2900 mg/g), surpassing most of the reported adsorbents. Comprehensive characterizations of the adsorption process of MO and CR revealed that both adsorptions were achieved via the anion exchange process. The characteristics of extremely low cost and excellent performance render JU-111 great potential in the practical applications in the removal of anionic dyes.

Difference in Tree Growth Responses to Climate at the Upper Treeline: Qilian Juniper in the Anyemaqen Mountains

Three ring-width chronologies were developed from Qilian Juniper （Sabina przewalskii Kom.） at the upper treeline along a west-east gradient in the Anyemaqen Mountains. Most chronological statistics, except for mean sensitivity （MS）, decreased from west to east. The first principal component （PC1） Ioadings indicated that stands in a similar climate condition were most important to the variability of radial growth. PC2 Ioadings decreased from west to east, suggesting the difference of tree-growth between eastern and western Anyemaqen Mountains. Correlations between standard chronologies and climatic factors revealed different climatic influences on radial growth along a west-east gradient in the study area. Temperature of warm season （July-August） was important to the radial growth at the upper treeline in the whole study area. Precipitation of current May was an important limiting factor of tree growth only in the western （drier） upper treeline, whereas precipitation of current September limited tree growth in the eastern （wetter） upper treeline. Response function analysis results showed that there were regional differences between tree growth and climatic factors in various sampling sites of the whole study area. Temperature and precipitation were the important factors influencing tree growth in western （drier） upper treeline. However, tree growth was greatly limited by temperature at the upper treeline in the middle area, and was more limited by precipitation than temperature in the eastern （wetter） upper treeline.

Few-Shot Remote Sensing Novel View Synthesis with Geometry Constraint NeRF

Novel View Synthesis(NVS) is an important task for 3D interpretation in remote sensing scenes, which also benefits vicinagearth security by enhancing situational awareness capabilities. Recently, NVS methods based on Neural Radiance Fields(Ne RFs) have attracted increasing attention for self-supervised training and highly photo-realistic synthesis ***, it is still challenging to synthesize novel view images in remote sensing scenes, given the complexity of land covers and the sparsity of input multi-view images. In this paper, we propose a novel NVS method named FRe SNe RF, which combines Image-Based Rendering(IBR) and Ne RF to achieve high-quality results in remote sensing scenes with sparse input. We effectively solve the degradation problem by adopting the sampling space annealing ***, we introduce depth smoothness based on the segmentation mask to constrain the scene geometry. Experiments on multiple scenes show the superiority of our proposed FRe SNe RF over other methods.

Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)is a heterogeneous female disorder characterized by the loss of ovarian function before the age of *** represents a significant detriment to female ***,the known POI-causative genes currently account for only a fraction of *** elucidate the genetic factors underlying POI,we conducted whole-exome sequencing on a family with three fertile POI patients and identified a deleterious missense variant in *** a subsequent replication study involving 1,030 POI patients,this variant was not only confirmed but also accompanied by the discovery of three additional predicted deleterious RNF111 *** variants collectively account for eight cases,representing 0.78%of the study cohort.A further study involving 500 patients with diminished ovarian reserve also identified two additional RNF111 ***,RNF111 encodes an E3 ubiquitin ligase with a regulatory role in the TGF-β/BMP signaling *** analysis revealed that RNF111/RNF111 is predominantly expressed in the oocytes of mice,monkeys,and *** further investigate the functional implications of RNF111 variants,we generated two mouse models:one with a heterozygous missense mutation(Rnf111+/M)and another with a heterozygous null mutation(Rnf111^(+/-)).Both mouse models exhibited impaired female fertility,characterized by reduced litter sizes and small ovarian ***,RNA-seq and quantitative proteomics analysis unveiled that Rnf111 haploinsufficiency led to dysregulation in female gonad development and negative regulation of the BMP signaling pathway within mouse *** conclusion,our findings strongly suggest that monoallelic deleterious variants in RNF111 can impair female fertility and induce POI in both humans and mice.

Unscented Particle Filter Algorithm Towards Data Quality Improvement in Sustainable Distribution Power Systems

Sustainable development of power and energy systems(PES)can effectively handle challenges of fuel shortage,environmental pollution,climate change,energy security,*** of PES presents distinctive characteristics including large collection,wide coverage,diverse temporal and spatial scales,inconsistent sparsity,multiple structures and low value density,putting forward higher requirements for real-time and accuracy of data analysis,and bringing great challenges to operation analysis and coordinated control of *** order to realize data quality improvement and further support flexible choice of operating mode,safe and efficient coordinated control,dynamic and orderly fault recovery of sustainable PES,this paper proposes an unscented particle filter algorithm,adopting unscented Kalman filter to construct importance density functions and KLD resampling to dynamically adjust the particle *** results obtained by taking an 85-node system as a benchmark for simulation verification show that compared with traditional PF algorithm and UKF algorithm,UPF algorithm has higher estimation accuracy.
