It is still a lack of bifunctional catalysts for ammonia oxidation reaction(AOR)and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)due to their different reaction mechanisms.In this work,P is doped into PtZn alloy by calcination with NaH_(2)PO_(2) as P source to induce the lattice tensile strain of Pt and the electronic interaction between P and Zn,which optimizes the AOR and HER activity simultaneously.The sample with the optimal P content can drive the AOR peak current density of 293.6 mA·mgPt^(-1),which is almost 2.7 times of Pt.For HER,the overpotential at^(-1)0 mA·cm^(-2) is only 23 mV with Tafel slope of 34.1 mV·dec^(-1).Furthermore,only 0.59 V is needed to obtain 50 mA·mgPt^(-1) for ammonia electrolysis under a two-electrode system.Therefore,this work shows an ingenious method to design bifunctional catalysts for ammonia electrolysis.

Epicatechin(EC)was used in this study to antagonize the cognitive dysfunction caused by lead(Pb)exposure in mice.Eight-week-old male Kunming mice were treated with PbCl_(2)(20 mg/kg)and/or EC(50 mg/kg)by gavage administration for 4 weeks.Morris water maze test showed that EC could improve memory dysfunction induced by Pb.EC antagonized Ca^(2+)overload,activated Nrf2 signaling pathway and reduced the accumulation of Pb in the brain and serum,which suggested that EC might alter Pb distribution in mice.In vitro,spectroscopic analysis,potentiometric titration and docking studies were applied to inquiry into the interaction between bovine serum albumin(BSA)and Pb^(2+)in presence or absence of EC.EC was proved to chelate Pb^(2+)and reduced the interaction between BSA and Pb^(2+).In summary,EC might protect Pb-induced cognitive impairment by activating Nrf2 signaling pathway,and suppressing Pb accumulation via interference on the binding of Pb to albumin.

Human endogenous retroviruses(HERVs)are remnants of retroviral infections in human germline cells from millions of years ago.Among these,ERVW-1(also known as HERV-W-ENV,ERVWE1,or ENVW)encodes the envelope protein of the HERV-W family,which contributes to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.Additionally,neuropathological studies have revealed cell death and disruption of iron homeostasis in the brains of individuals with schizophrenia.Here,our bioinformatics analysis showed that differentially expressed genes in the human prefrontal cortex RNA microarray dataset(GSE53987)were mainly related to ferroptosis and its associated pathways.Clinical data demonstrated significantly lower expression levels of ferroptosis-related genes,particularly Glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4)and solute carrier family 3 member 2(SLC3A2),in schizophrenia patients compared to normal controls.Further in-depth analyses revealed a significant negative correlation between ERVW-1 expression and the levels of GPX4/SLC3A2 in schizophrenia.Studies indicated that ERVW-1 increased iron levels,malondialdehyde(MDA),and transferrin receptor protein 1(TFR1)expression while decreasing glutathione(GSH)levels and triggering the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential,suggesting that ERVW-1 can induce ferroptosis.Ongoing research has shown that ERVW-1 reduced the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2 by inhibiting their promoter activities.Moreover,Ferrostatin-1(Fer-1),the ferroptosis inhibitor,reversed the iron accumulation and mitochondrial membrane potential loss,as well as restored the expressions of ferroptosis markers GSH,MDA,and TFR1 induced by ERVW-1.In conclusion,ERVW-1 could promote ferroptosis by downregulating the expression of GPX4 and SLC3A2,revealing a novel mechanism by which ERVW-1 contributes to neuronal cell death in schizophrenia.

Liver fibrosis is a dynamic wound-healing response characterized by the agglutination of the extracellular matrix(ECM).Si-wu-Tang(SWT),a traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)formula,is known for treating gynecological diseases and liver fibrosis.Our previous studies demonstrated that long non-coding RNA H19(H19)was markedly upregulated in fibrotic livers while its deficiency markedly reversed fibrogenesis.However,the mechanisms by which SWT influences H19 remain unclear.Thus,we established a bile duct ligation(BDL)-induced liver fibrosis model to evaluate the hepatoprotective effects of SWT on various cells in the liver.Our results showed that SWT markedly improved ECM deposition and bile duct reactions in the liver.Notably,SWT relieved liver fibrosis by regulating the transcription of genes involved in the cytoskeleton remodeling,primarily in hepatic stellate cells(HSCs),and influencing cytoskeleton-related angiogenesis and hepatocellular injury.This modulation collectively led to reduced ECM deposition.Through extensive bioinformatics analyses,we determined that H19 acted as a miRNA sponge and mainly inhibited miR-200,miR-211,and let7b,thereby regulating the above cellular regulatory pathways.Meanwhile,SWT reversed H19-related miRNAs and signaling pathways,diminishing ECM deposition and liver fibrosis.However,these protective effects of SWT were diminished with the overexpression of H19 in vivo.In conclusion,our study elucidates the underlying mechanisms of SWT from the perspective of H19-related signal networks and proposes a potential SWT-based therapeutic strategy for the treatment of liver fibrosis.

Honeycomb seals are a crucial component to restrict the leakage flow and improve system stability for the turbomachines and aero-engines.In this work,the leakage and rotordynamic performance of honeycomb seals with the Swirl-Reverse Ring(SRR)is predicted by employing the approach of Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)and the multifrequency whirling model theory.Numerical results show that the positive preswirl flow and circumferential velocity can be effectively weakened for the honeycomb seal as SRR is introduced.The obtained results also suggest that the direct stiffness,direct damping,and effective stiffness will not reduce,for the honeycomb seal is introduced to SRR.However,the honeycomb seal with SRR can significantly reduce the crosscoupled stiffness and remarkably enhance the effective damping.Meanwhile,the absolute value of negative tangential force acting on the rotor surface significantly increased for the honeycomb seal introduced SRR.Therefore,the whirling velocity of the rotor would be weakened.This phenomenon would be conducive to improve the stability of the rotor.Besides,the performance of SRR can be further enhanced when SRR possesses a smaller bending angle,and a higher arrangement density and height.

Recently,immunotherapy has emerged as a promising and efective method for treating triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC).However,challenges still persist.Immunogenic cell death(ICD)is considered a prospective treatment and potential combinational treatment strategy as it induces an anti-tumor immune response by presenting the antigenic epitopes of dead cells.Nevertheless,the ICD process in TNBC and its impact on disease progression and the response to immunotherapy are not well understood.In this study,we observed dysregulation of the ICD process and verifed the altered expression of prognostic ICD genes in TNBC through quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)analysis.To investigate the potential role of the ICD process in TNBC progression,we determined the ICD-dependent subtypes,and two were identifed.Analysis of their distinct tumor immune microenvironment(TIME)and cancer hallmark features revealed that Cluster 1 and 2 corresponded to the immune“cold”and“hot”phenotypes,respectively.In addition,we constructed the prognostic signature ICD score of TNBC patients and demonstrated its clinical independence and generalizability.The ICD score could also serve as a potential biomarker for immune checkpoint blockade and may aid in the identifcation of targeted efective agents for individualized clinical strategies.

Thin-film composite(TFC)reverse osmosis(RO)membranes have attracted considerable attention in water treatment and desalination processes due to their specific separation advantages.Nevertheless,the trade-off effect between water flux and salt rejection poses huge challenges to further improvement in TFC RO membrane performance.Numerous research works have been dedicated to optimizing membrane fabrication and modification for addressing this issue.In the meantime,several reviews summarized these approaches.However,the existing reviews seldom analyzed these methods from a theoretical perspective and thus failed to offer effective optimization directions for the RO process from the root cause.In this review,we first propose a mass transfer model to facilitate a better understanding of the entire process of how water and solute permeate through RO membranes in detail,namely the migration process outside the membrane,the dissolution process on the membrane surface,and the diffusion process within the membrane.Thereafter,the water and salt mass transfer behaviors obtained from model deduction are comprehensively analyzed to provide potential guidelines for alleviating the trade-off effect between water flux and salt rejection in the RO process.Finally,inspired by the theoretical analysis and the accurate identification of existing bottlenecks,several promising strategies for both regulating RO membranes and optimizing operational conditions are proposed to further exploit the potential of RO membrane performance.This review is expected to guide the development of high-performance RO membranes from a mass transfer theory standpoint.

The honeycomb seal is a vital component to reduce the leakage flow and improvethe system stability for the turbomachines. In this work, a three-dimensional model is established for the interlaced hole honeycomb seal (IHHCS) and the non-interlaced hole honeycombseal (NIHHCS) to investigate its leakage and rotordynamic characteristics by adopting computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Results show that the hole arrangement patterns have littleimpact on the pressure drop and turbulence kinetic energy distribution for the seals, and theIHHCS possesses a slightly lower leakage flow rate than the NIHHCS. Moreover, the numericalresults also show that the NIHHCS possesses a better rotordynamic performance than theIHHCS at all investigated conditions. Both seals show a larger k and a lower Ceff with the increase of the positive preswirl ratios and rotational speeds, while the negative preswirl ratioswould reduce the k and improve the Ceff. The NIHHCS possesses a higher absolute value ofFt for all operating conditions, this could explain the distinction of Ceff for both seals atdifferent working conditions.

In the boreal summer and autumn of 2023,the globe experienced an extremely hot period across both oceans and continents.The consecutive record-breaking mean surface temperature has caused many to speculate upon how the global temperature will evolve in the coming 2023/24 boreal winter.In this report,as shown in the multi-model ensemble mean(MME)prediction released by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences,a medium-to-strong eastern Pacific El Niño event will reach its mature phase in the following 2−3 months,which tends to excite an anomalous anticyclone over the western North Pacific and the Pacific-North American teleconnection,thus serving to modulate the winter climate in East Asia and North America.Despite some uncertainty due to unpredictable internal atmospheric variability,the global mean surface temperature(GMST)in the 2023/24 winter will likely be the warmest in recorded history as a consequence of both the El Niño event and the long-term global warming trend.Specifically,the middle and low latitudes of Eurasia are expected to experience an anomalously warm winter,and the surface air temperature anomaly in China will likely exceed 2.4 standard deviations above climatology and subsequently be recorded as the warmest winter since 1991.Moreover,the necessary early warnings are still reliable in the timely updated mediumterm numerical weather forecasts and sub-seasonal-to-seasonal prediction.

为了解决零中频接收数字阵列波束合成的镜像抑制问题,从推导单通道零中频接收模型出发,首先给出了零中频接收数字阵列的数学模型,然后对同时存在通道间幅相误差、通道内I/Q不平衡误差时的阵列波束图、波束合成的镜像抑制性能进行理论分析。依据分析结果,阵列各通道引入随机辅助相位,提出了一种无需对通道内I/Q不平衡误差进行测量、波束合成输出镜像抑制比与阵元个数有关、适合于大规模数字阵列的波束合成镜像抑制方法。仿真实验验证了本文理论分析和所提方法的正确性。
