Fabrication and modelling of Si_(3)n_(4)ceramics with radial grain alignment generated through centripetal sinter-forging

Silicon nitride(Si_(3)n_(4))based ceramics are one of the most attractive advanced engineering materials,which have been widely used under high-speed rotational operation or for mechanical contacts across a curved *** the present study,rotationally symmetric texturing of Si_(3)n_(4),with radial grain align-ment,was obtained by centripetal sinter-forging(CSF)of a partially sintered *** average values of the included angles between the c-axis of the local Si_(3)n_(4)grain and radial direction were approxi-mately 16.4°and 11.0°,on the section plane perpendicular to the pressing direction,and parallel to both the pressing and radial directions,*** compressive strain in the pressing direction forced the ceramic body to flow towards the central axis,resulting in compressive strain in the tangential di-rection and tensile strain in the radial direction.A fundamental physical model was created to simulate the grain rotation during the 3-dimentional strain reorientation,which revealed the rod-like grain would preferentially rotate toward the center of the sample under the CSF *** addition,due to the fric-tion between the sample surface and the pressing punch,the increased shear strain could enhance the Si_(3)n_(4)grain ***,ceramics with rod-like grains perpendicular to the curved side sur-face could be anticipated by applying the centripetal forming concept in a controlled manner.

On the operating speed and energy efficiency of Gan-based monolithic complementary logic circuits for integrated power conversion systems

Gallium nitride(Gan)-based power conversion systems exhibit striking competitiveness in realizing compact and high-efficiency power management *** emerging Gan-based p-channel field-effect transistors(FETs)and monolithic integration techniques enable the implementation of Gan-based complementary logic(CL)circuits and thereby offer an additional pathway to improving the system-level energy efficiency and *** this article,holistic analyses are conducted to evaluate the potential benefits of introducing Gan CL circuits into the integrated power systems,based on the material limit of Gan and state-of-the-art experimental *** is revealed that the propagation delay of a single-stage CL gate based on the commercial p-Gan gate power HEMT(high-electron-mobility transistor)platform could be as short as sub-nanosecond,which sufficiently satis-fies the requirement of power conversion systems typically with operating frequencies less than 10 *** the currently adopted n-FET-based logic gates(e.g.,directly coupled FET logic)replaced by CL gates,the power consumption of peripheral logic circuits could be substantially suppressed by more than 10^(3) times,mainly due to the elimination of the pronounced static power ***,the energy efficiency of the entire system could be substantially improved.

Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of abiraterone before and after docetaxel in patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer

AIM: To study the efficacy and safety of abiraterone in patients with and without prior ***: The databases including Pub Med and abstracts presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meetings up to April 2014 were systematically searched. Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials(RCTs) in which abiraterone plus prednisone was compared to placebo plus prednisone in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC) patients. The summary incidence, relative risk, hazard ratio and 95%CI were calculated using random or fixed-effects models. Heterogeneity test was performed to test between-study differences in efficacy and ***: A total of two phase III RCTs were included in our analysis, with metastatic CPRC patients before(n = 1088) and after chemotherapy(n = 1195). Prior chemotherapy did not significantly alter the effect of abiraterone on overall survival(P = 0.92) and prostatespecific antigen(PSA) progression-free survival(P = 0.13), but reduced its effect on radiographic-prog-ression-free survival(P = 0.04), objective response rate(P nd PSA response rate(P nificantly increased the specific risk of fluid retention and edema(P nd hypokalemia(P nsion(P ne. There was no significant difference of cardiac disorders associated with abiraterone between the two settings(P = 0.58). COnCLUSIOn: Prior chemotherapy may reduce the effectiveness of abiraterone in patients with metastatic CRPC.

Standard method design considerations for semi-quantification of total naphthenic acids in oil sands process affected water by mass spectrometry： A review

naphthenic acids are a complex class of thousands of naturally occurring aliphatic and alicyclic carboxylic acids found in oil sands bitumen and in the wastewater generated from bitumen processing. Dozens of analytical methods have been developed for the semiquantification of total naphthenic acids in water samples. However, different methods can give different results, prompting investigation into the comparability of the many methods. A review of important methodological features for analyzing total naphthenic acids is presented and informs the design of future standard methods for the semi- quantification of total naphthenic acids using mass spectrometry. The design considerations presented are a synthesis of discussions from an Environment and Climate Change Canada （ECCC） led taskforce of 10 laboratory experts from government, industry and academia during April 2016 and subsequent discussions between University of British Columbia and ECCC representatives. Matters considered are： extraction method, solvent, pH, and temperature; analysis instrumentation and resolution; choice of calibration standards; use of surrogate and internal standards; and use of online or offline separation prior to analysis. The design considerations are amenable to both time-of-flight and Orbitrap mass spectrometers.

A new genus of Asiatic short-tailed shrew (Soricidae, Eulipotyphla) based on molecular and morphological comparisons

Blarinellini is a tribe of soricine shrews comprised of nine fossil genera and one extant genus. Blarinelline shrews were once widely distributed throughout Eurasia and north America, though only members of the Asiatic short-tailed shrew genus Blarinella currently persist （mostly in southwestern China and adjacent areas）. Only three forms of Blarinella have been recognized as either species or subspecies However, recent molecular studies indicated a strikingly deep divergence within the genus, implying the existence of a distinct genus-level lineage. We sequenced the complete mitochondrial genomes and one nuclear gene of three Asiatic short-tailed and two north American shrews and analyzed them morphometrically and morphologically. Our molecular analyses revealed that specimens ascribed to B. griselda formed two deeply diverged lineages, one a close relative to B. quadraticauda, whereas the other--comprised of topotype specimens from southern Gansu-iverged from other Blarinella in the middle Miocene （ca. 18.2 million years ago （Ma）, 95% confidence interval=13.4-23.6 Ma）. Although the skulls were similarly shaped in both lineages, we observed several diagnostic characteristics, including the shape of the upper p4. In consideration of the molecular and morphological evidence, we recognize B. griselda as the sole species of a new genus, namely, Pantherina gen. nov. Interestingly, some characteristics of Pantherina griselda are more similar to fossil genera, suggesting it represents an evolutionarily more primitive form than *** of this new genus sheds light on the systematics and evolutionary history of the tribe Blarinellini throughout Eurasia and north America.

Temperature and composition dependent screw dislocation mobility in austenitic stainless steels from large-scale molecular dynamics

Extensive molecular dynamics simulations are performed to determine screw dislocation mobility in austenitic Fe_(0.7)nixCr_(0.3-x) stainless steels as a function of temperature ranging from 100 to 1300 K,resolved shear stress from 30 to 140 MPa,and ni composition from 0.0 to 30.0 at%.These mobility data are fitted to a linear mobility law with a nonzero stress offset,referred to as the threshold *** find that both the linear drag coefficient and the threshold stress increase with ni *** drag coefficient increases with temperature,whereas the threshold stress decreases with *** on these calculations,we determine fitting functions for the linear solute drag coefficient as a function of temperature and *** mobility laws determined in this study may serve to inform dislocation dynamics simulations pertinent to dislocation network evolution at elevated temperatures for a wide composition range of austenitic stainless steels.

Demarcation of family,genus and species boundaries in the Diaporthales has been tentative due to uninformative illus-trations and descriptions,overlapping morphological characteristics,misplacement or poor condition of type specimens and shortage of molecular data from ex-type *** this study,we obtained the type specimens or other authentic specimens of diaporthalean taxa from worldwide *** examined,described and illustrated *** study is based on morphological characters from type or authentic specimens,details from protologue and original illustrations and molecular data obtained from *** analyses of nrITS,nrLSU,RPB2 and TEF1-a sequence data were used to construct the molecular ***,we provided separate phylogenetic trees for families when necessary to show the generic distribution within these families based on suitable gene *** on morphology and phylogeny,we treat 17 genera previously assigned to Diaporthales genera incertae sedis within several *** some genera we have designated new generic types as they are lacking type species or type species have affiliations with other *** exclude Anisomycopsis from Diaporthales and place it in Xylariomycetidae genera incertae ***,which was previously placed in Tirisporellales is placed in Diaporthales based on phylogeny and morphology.A new combi-nation,Dendrostoma leiphaemia propose for Amphiporthe leiphaemia(Fr.)*** on the morphological characters and molecular data we accept 27 families and 138 genera within Diaporthales,24 genera in Diaporthales genera incertae sedis and one genus in Xylariomycetidae genera incertae *** provide notes for genera in Diaporthales genera incertae sedis,and excluded and doubtful genera are listed with notes on their taxonomy and phylogeny.
