The AraçuaíOrogen,in eastern Brazil,was formed during the Neoproterozoic–Cambrian amalgamation of West *** the Mesozoic–Cenozoic opening of the South Atlantic Ocean,and the associated divergent tectonics,the orogen developed as basement to the passive margin of South America and was progressively covered by thick offshore sedimentary basins,particularly the Espírito Santo,Mucuri,and Cumuruxatiba basins,in which hydrocarbon systems have been *** understanding of the AraçuaíOrogen’s passive margin evolution,erosion,and sediment transfer to these basins ultimately depends on constraining the onshore exhumation in response to Mesozoic–Cenozoic ***,new and previously published data from apatite fission-track(AFT)analyses and inverse thermal history modelling of(Pre)Cambrian basement rocks from the AraçuaíOrogen resolve three discrete basement cooling and associated erosional exhumation *** the Pre-Rift phase,Jurassic–Hauterivian erosion of the AraçuaíOrogen is most likely related to the adjoining intra-continental West Gondwana flexural subsidence,which increased hillslope and river erosion *** the Rift and Transitional phases,Barremian–Albian accelerated phase of erosion is associated with the uplift of the Atlantic rift shoulders and the establishment of an oceanic *** the Drift phase,reactivations in response to far-field stresses likely triggered a Late Cretaceous–Paleocene rapid erosion *** rates at which these events unfolded vary spatially and are controlled by inherited *** AraçuaíOrogen experienced slower denudation rates in areas closer to the São Francisco Craton,which suggests that the tectonic reactivation and related surface uplift during the Mesozoic–Cenozoic is in first-order controlled by lithospheric ***,the structural framework of the Paramirim and Pirapora aulacogens and NE-oriented shear zones in the orogen’s southeast facilitated later *** the spati

Interactions between surface gravity wave and submerged horizontal flexible structures are studied under the assumption of small amplitude water wave theory and structural response. The generalized dispersion relation associated with surface gravity wave interaction with submerged horizontal flexible plate is analyzed to understand the characteristics of the two propagating modes due to the presence of the free surface and submerged horizontal plate. The phase and group velocities are studied in order to analyze the effect of submerged flexible plate on gravity wave motion. The expansion formulae based on Green’s function technique and eigenfunction expansion method using Fourier transform with appropriate orthogonal mode-coupling relation associated with surface gravity wavemaker problems are derived and compared in both the cases of water of finite and infinite depths. The usefulness of the expansion formulae is demonstrated by deriving the solution for surface gravity wave interaction with submerged articulated flexible plate in water of finite depth. Several numerical results on reflection and transmission coefficients related to submerged flexible plate are presented in order to understand the effect of submerged flexible structure on surface wave motion in different cases.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is the leading cause of diffuse liver *** accurate estimate of the fat in the liver is important in the diagnostic work-up of patients with NAFLD because the degree of liver steatosis is linked to the metabolic syndrome and the cardiovascular ***(US)B-mode imaging allows to subjectively estimate the fatty infiltration in the liver;however,it has a low performance for the detection of mild *** US is based on the analysis of the radiofrequency echoes detected by an US system,and it allows to calculate a backscatter coefficient or an attenuation coefficient or the sound *** estimation of the backscatter coefficient is rather cumbersome and requires the use of a phantom for addressing all sources of *** attenuation parameter(CAP)available on the FibroScan system(Echosens,France)measures the attenuation of the US *** is accurate in grading fatty infiltration-even though there is an overlap between consecutive grade of liver steatosis-and the values are not influenced by liver *** US manufacturers are developing or have already developed software for quantifying the attenuation of the US *** results show that proprietary technologies implemented in US systems seem more accurate than CAP for grading liver *** available method for quantifying liver steatosis is based on the computation of the sound speed and the initial results appear promising.

The paleo-geothermal gradient is a crucial parameter for converting the thermal history to the exhumation history. However， the precise estimation of this parameter has been a challenge. This paper presents a simple two-step method to model the paleo-geothermal gradient using low-temperature thermochronology. (1) It uses the Monte Carlo approach to generate thermal histories in a vertical section randomly and calculates the entire thermal history within the goodness-of-fit thresholds based on different paleo-geothermal gradients. (2) It selects the optimum paleo-geothermal gradient by comparing the entire thermal history within different goodness-of-fit thresholds. We validated the method with apatite (U-Th)/He and fission track data collected from two drill cores in the Haiyuan-Liupanshan region. The result revealed that the best-fit paleo-geothermal gradient was ～42 ℃/km during the Early Cretaceous–Miocene and has decreased rapidly to 20 ℃/km since ～10 Ma. The crust thickening in the study area may explain the rapid reduction in the paleo-geothermal gradient since ～10 Ma. Our results are consistent with earlier studies in the region， suggesting that our simple and more intuitive approach provides an alternative method for paleo-geothermal gradient modeling.

Cancer theranostics is a recent concept that aims to combine in the same device diagnostic and therapeutic features. Magnetic nanoparticles(m NPs) are commonly used as a critical part of these systems due to their ability to respond to an external magnetic field. Consequently, m NPs can generate heat when an alternating magnetic field is applied and enhance image contrast in magnetic resonance. However, direct administration of m NPs intravenously or directly in the tumor can lead to undesired side effects because of m NP elimination by macrophages or leakage to healthy tissues. Therefore, m NPs can be retained in a polymeric nanofibrous mesh, thus preventing misplacing or loss of m NPs. Furthermore, these magnetic nanofibers can be directly implanted in the tumor site, thus ensuring high m NPs loading and higher magnetic response. In addition, polymeric nanofibers produced by electrospinning are frequently used to maintain a sustained drug release in the tumor site. Therefore,a magnetic polymeric nanofiber produced by electrospinning is an ideal nanosystem for cancer theranostics application. This review summarizes the most recent developments of magnetic nanofibers produced by electrospinning for cancer theranostics applications.
