Tropospheric ozone (O3) is one of the pollutants that have a significant impact on human health. It can increase the rate of asthma crises, cause permanent lung infections and death. Predicting its concentration levels is therefore important for planning atmospheric protection strategies. The aim of this study is to predict the daily mean O3 concentration one day ahead in the Grand Casablanca area of Morocco using primary pollutants and meteorological variables. Since the available explanatory variables are multicollinear, multiple linear regressions are likely to lead to unstable models. To counteract the multicollinearity problem, we compared several alternative regression methods: 1) Continuum Regression;2) Ridge & Lasso Regressions;3) Principal component regression (PCR);4) Partial least Square regression & sparse PLS and;5) Biased Power Regression. The aim is to set up a good prediction model of the daily ozone in the Grand Casablanca area. These models are fitted on a training data set (from the years 2013 and 2014), tested on a data set (from 2015) and validated on yet another data set data (from 2015). The Lasso model showed a better performance for the prediction of ozone concentrations compared to multiple linear regression and its other alternative methods.

Recurrent Transient Ischemic Attacks Revealing Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy: A Comprehensive Case

This case report investigates the manifestation of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) through recurrent Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIAs) in an 82-year-old patient. Despite initial diagnostic complexities, cerebral angiography-MRI revealed features indicative of CAA. Symptomatic treatment resulted in improvement, but the patient later developed a fatal hematoma. The discussion navigates the intricate therapeutic landscape of repetitive TIAs in the elderly with cardiovascular risk factors, emphasizing the pivotal role of cerebral MRI and meticulous bleeding risk management. The conclusion stresses the importance of incorporating SWI sequences, specifically when suspecting a cardioembolic TIA, as a diagnostic measure to explore and exclude CAA in the differential diagnosis. This case report provides valuable insights into these challenges, highlighting the need to consider CAA in relevant cases.

基于驻波表面声波的微粒操纵技术因其高效低耗而得到广泛应用,但仅依靠实验方法和理论研究难以全面研究微观尺度下的微粒运动。对微流体内声波分离微观颗粒的过程进行数值模拟,并进一步研究不同粒径颗粒的粒径比率对颗粒分离过程的影响。结果表明,两种颗粒的粒径越接近,颗粒分离越困难;粒径差越大,颗粒分离效果越好;粒径比率影响颗粒分离过程的本质是影响了大小颗粒受声场作用力间的差距。

近几十年来,世界的环境问题受到广泛关注。消费者比以往任何时候都更加关注可持续问题,这导致购买行为发生了巨大转变,即相较于传统化妆品,消费者会更偏好购买绿色化妆品.本研究运用计划行为理论(TPB),旨在厘清态度、主观规范和感知行为控制对绿色化妆品消费者购买意愿的影响,以及环境知识和健康意识是否会对消费者态度产生影响。此外,本研究进一步探究了在欧洲消费者和中国消费者群体之间,以上影响因素及其影响效果是否存在差异的问题。基于此,本研究通过在线问卷调查的方式获得300份有效问卷,其中欧洲消费者样本150个,中国消费者样本150个。为了分析不同变量之间的关系并验证理论模型,本研究使用SPSS软件进行了多元回归分析。分析结果表明:态度、感知行为控制、环境知识和健康意识对欧洲消费者的购买意愿有显著影响,但主观规范对其影响不显著。对于中国消费者而言,环境知识和主观规范对其购买意愿均不显著,但态度、感知行为控制和健康意识对其购买绿色化妆品的意愿有显著正向影响。该研究结果为帮助营销人员创新营销方法提供理论指导,有利于其更好吸引新消费者并留住现有消费者。

The Effect of Vegetation Restoration in Soil Organic Carbon Storage

This review paper has been made to assess the past studies reviewed regarding vegetation restoration and its impact on soil organic carbon content. A Vegetation Restoration is an influential technique that can be used to respond to these effects. As a response to the global biodiversity crisis, more restoration actions have been taken. The European Union Council’s results on kinds of diversity after 2010 highlight words like stopping biodiversity loss and the breakdown of ecological systems in the European Union. The United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity’s growth strategy for 2022, which includes restoring at least 15% of degraded ecosystems, has made this possible. Soil types are among the most vulnerable resources on the planet due to factors such as climate change, land degradation, and the reduction of biodiversity. Organic Carbon, the top meter of soil, could potentially store three times as much carbon as is found in the air and almost twice as much as in plants. For the systematic literature review, past papers on vegetation restoration have been extracted from the latest papers of 2013 and onwards to 2022. The summary of results included key findings of the papers, the interpretation of papers reviewed, and the relevant references. Thirty papers were reviewed and selected from authentic databases and assessed that vegetation restoration significantly affects soil organic carbon (SOC). The findings also exhibit that the primary sources of prediction for SOC dynamics include changes in soil properties, quality, the number of carbon inputs, and the composition of the C pool. Vegetation restoration also plays an important role in improving the services of ecosystems such as controlling the erosion of soil and increasing the carbon sequestration. Experiences of Women Receiving Multifraction High Dose-Rate Brachytherapy for Cervical Cancer: A Prospective Qualitative Study

Objective: The aim of this study was to establish cervical cancer patients’ expectations and experiences during high dose-rate (HDR) intracavitary brachytherapy procedure, as part of a process to develop guidelines for quality patient-centered care. Methodology: A prospective, qualitative study with a descriptive phenomenological approach was used. Purposive sampling was carried out to recruit 31 women undergoing HDR brachytherapy for cervical cancer from June to August 2020 at the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat. Semi-structured, one-to-one interviews guided by a theme list were conducted by a female radiation oncologist in Arabic before, during and after treatment. The following aspects were discussed: expectations, experiences in the waiting room, in the treatment room, and suggestions for improvement. Data was transcribed, translated and thematic analysis performed. Results: Most of the patients felt unprepared and did not have a clear understanding of brachytherapy. Brachytherapy was a difficult experience causing fear and anxiety throughout treatment. Most women dreaded the procedure, before receiving the first treatment and even after having had one. Pain was a major problem for the participants. Some women compared this pain to childbirth, a process they preferred to brachytherapy. Patients agreed that the preventative medication received was not efficient to relieve the pain. Despite these negative experiences, patients were left with a positive outlook. Dialogue with the healthcare professionals, support from their family and fellow patients, envisaged outcomes and desires to heal were used to cope, whilst faith and spirituality gave them strength to endure the procedure. Conclusion: Women undergoing uterovaginal brachytherapy for cervical cancer experience pain and emotional distress. Providing patients with adequate information, more sensitive support during the procedure and debriefing afterwards could lessen feelings of fear and anxiety. Our fi

Sarcomatoid Carcinoma of the Mandible: A Case Report and Literature Review

Background: Sarcomatoid carcinoma is a rare biphasic malignancy with an epithelial and mesenchymal component. Given its histological particularity, the diagnosis of this tumor still represents a challenge for pathologists and surgeons. Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the mandible is a very rare and aggressive entity. To date, only sporadic cases have been reported in the literature. Aim: To report a rare case of aggressive mandibular sarcomatoid carcinoma treated with radical surgery and adjuvant chemoradiation, and discuss the related literature. Case Report: We introduce a rare case of mandibular sarcomatoid carcinoma occurring in a 34-year-old woman. Treatment consisted of radical surgery and re-excision for positive margins, adjuvant radiation therapy (66 Gy in 33 fractions in simultaneous integrated boost delivered using Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy) and Cisplatin-based concurrent chemotherapy. The tumor displayed aggressive behavior and high metastatic potential, causing tumour recurrence and extensive lung metastasis. Conclusion: Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the mandible is an extremely rare malignant entity, with a high tendency for local recurrence, distant metastasis. Treatment involves radical surgery and adjuvant chemoradiation, although the outcome and prognosis might be poor.

Informational Needs in Women Undergoing Multifraction High Dose-Rate Brachytherapy for Cervical Cancer: A Prospective Qualitative Study

Objective: To identify the informational needs of Moroccan women receiving intracavitary brachytherapy for locally advanced cervical cancer as part of a process to develop guidelines for quality patient-centered care. Methodology: A prospective, qualitative study with a phenomenological approach was carried out at the Brachytherapy unit of the National Institute of Oncology in Rabat, Morocco. Purposive sampling was used to recruit 31 patients undergoing high dose-rate brachytherapy for cervical cancer from July 2020 to August 2020. Semi-structured, one-to-one interviews were conducted by a female radiation oncologist in Arabic, guided by a theme list. The interviews were translated and a thematic analysis was performed. Results: Data saturation was achieved having interviewing 31 participants, aged 27 - 70 years. Findings on patients’ informational needs were the overarching theme and form the focus of this article. The informational needs included: providing patients with disease- and treatment-related information in their home language;adequate information concerning pre-treatment preparation, possible side-effects, and sexual intercourse;and providing patients with informative material adapted to their needs as standard procedure. Conclusion: This study has identified unmet women’s informational needs during brachytherapy for cervical cancer. Providing patients with sufficient and understandable information, adequate preparation before the procedure, more sensitive support during the procedure, and debriefing afterward could lessen feelings of fear and anxiety towards treatment delivery. Guidelines with a patient-centered approach could thus be developed to be used as a tool to assist members of multidisciplinary teams in providing quality care to this group of women.
