The single-balloon enteroscopy(SBE) system was launched in 2007, proposed as a simpler method than double-balloon enteroscopy(DBE). Controversy surrounds whether the SBE system has the same insertability as DBE. However, many methods have been proposed to improve the depth of insertion with the SBE system, involving several techniques and endoscopic accessories. SBE is used for investigating not only small bowel diseases, but also diseases of the pancreatobiliary and colonic structures. SBE is a necessary advancement for many endoscopic procedures and applications in modern clinical practice. In our review, we summarized the current literature concerning the insertability of SBE and described the technical aspects of improving the rate of deep insertion in SBE procedures. In addition, the recent applications of SBE to diseases besides those of the small bowel are described.

Chronic stress-induced depression is a common hallmark of many psychiatric disorders with high morbidity ***-induced dysregulation of noradrenergic system has been implicated in the pathogenesis of *** of monoamine in the brain has been believed to be the main causative factor behind pathophysiology of major depressive disorder（MDD） and several antidepressants functions by increasing the monoamine level at the synapses in the ***,it is undetermined whether the noradrenergic receptor stimulation is critical for the therapeutic effect of *** to noradrenergic receptor stimulation,it has been suggested that the desensitization of β-adrenoceptor is involved in the therapeutic effect of *** addition,enhanced noradrenaline（NA） release is central response to stress and thought to be a risk factor for the development of ***,fast acting antidepressant suppresses the hyperactivation of noradrenergic neurons in locus coeruleus（LC）.However,it is unclear how they alter the firing activity of LC *** inconsistent reports about antidepressant effect of NA-reuptake inhibitors（NRIs） and enhanced release of NA as a stress response complicate our understanding about the pathophysiology of *** this review,we will discuss the role of NA in pathophysiology of stress and the mechanism of therapeutic effect of NA in *** will also discuss the possible contributions of each subtype of noradrenergic receptors on LC neurons,hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis（HPA-axis） and brain derived neurotrophic factor-induced hippocampal neurogenesis during stress and therapeutic effect of NRIs in MDD.

Collective cell migration plays a critical role in physiological and pathological processes such as development,wound healing,and *** studies have demonstrated how various types of chemical,mechanical,and electrical cues dictate the collective migratory behaviors of *** an acoustic cue can be advantageous because of its noninvasiveness and biocompatibility,cell migration in response to acoustic stimulation remains poorly *** this study,we developed a device that is able to apply surface acoustic waves to a cell culture substrate and investigated the effect of propagating acoustic waves on collective cell *** migration distance estimated at various wave intensities revealed that unidirectional cell migration was enhanced at a critical wave intensity and that it was suppressed as the intensity was further *** increased migration might be attributable to cell orientation alignment along the direction of the propagating wave,as characterized by nucleus *** actin bundles indicative of a high traction force were observed in cells subjected to propagating acoustic waves at the critical *** device and technique can be useful for regulating cellular functions associated with cell migration.

The purpose of this paper is, first of all, to show what V. E. Frankl calls meanings rooted in three values： creativevalues, experiential values, and attitudinal values. Creative values are what one finds by creating a work or doing adeed. Experiential values are realized by experiencing something or encountering someone. Attitudinal values arewhat a person discovers by the attitude she/he takes toward unavoidable suffering. The author points out that thesethree kinds of values have something in common： connectedness or relationship. Creative values （e.g., an artisticmasterpiece） show the worker＇s connectedness with the work accomplished. Experiential values also stand for therelationship between, say, a person and natural beauty. Frankl describes a person＇s attitudinal values by stating ＂Hemay turn a personal tragedy into a triumph.＂ In short, we can say that attitudinal values indicate relationshipbetween the sufferer and suffering itself. The author states the core of Frankl＇s three values is the aforementionedconnectedness or relationship. In other words, what Frankl calls meanings indicates manifestation of connectednessor relationship in the form of creations, experiences, and attitudes. However, in this paper, the author insists thateven if Frankl＇s three kinds of values are not realized, there is another value to realize beyond Frankl＇s three kindsof values, which is coexistence. Within this context, Frankl fails to mention cases where one cannot find meaning inlife by a deed or work they does, an experience they encounter, or an attitude they takes in the midst of *** three types of meanings in life need a skill, a chance, and/or ego-strength. We can discover meaning in life justby being together, and the author proposes the fourth meaning in life, or coexistent values. It can be defined as＂values realized by having meaningful relationships or togetherness with others.＂ Careful analysis of Frankl＇writings shows connectedness aspects of logotherapy

Graphic science is the subject which teaches geometry and graphics, and is taught in early undergraduate curricula at many Japanese universities as a liberal arts subject or as a basic subject for design and drawing. In traditional graphic science courses, de-scriptive geometry based on hand drawings was taught. However, in recent years, there continues to be a rapid spread in the use of 3D-CAD in the field of engineering design and drawing, and there is also increasing use of CG in many fields such as for visualiza-tion of computer simulation results in science, and for image display in the movie and game entertainment fields. So there is a need for graphic presentation education including the competence in the use of 3D-CAD/CG, or ＂graphics literacy （or visual literacy） education＂ for a wide range of students. In order to realize graphics literacy education, from 2007, a new graphic science curriculum has been started at the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Tokyo. The main part of the curriculum consists of Graphic Science I and Graphic Science II. With Graphic Science I, as before, traditional descriptive geometry is taught with hand drawing as the base. With Graphic Science II, commercial graphic processing software can be experienced. In this course, by introducing geo- metric problems as examples and assignments, it is designed to mutually complement with descriptive geometry education （Graphic Science I）. With the spread of 3D-CAD/CG, some people say that there is no longer any need for descriptive geometry, but for the following reasons, it has been decided to teach descriptive geometry. 1） Traditional descriptive geometry is an excellent method in teaching and learning geometry of projection and of three-dimensional objects, and concepts and/or procedures in descriptive geome-try can be applied in solving geometric design problems by the use of 3D-CAD/CG. 2） Even in this age of 3D-CAD/CG, hand draw-ing is still being used （especially for fr

Objective:This study was performed to evaluate the clinical and perioperative outcomes of laparoscopic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection(L-RPLND)and open retroperitoneal lymph node dissection(O-RPLND)performed by one surgeon at a single ***:We evaluated 30 patients with stage IIA germ cell tumors who underwent retroperitoneal lymph node dissection(15 underwent L-RPLND and 15 underwent O-RPLND)at our institution between April 1,2010 and March 31,*** clinical parameters were compared between patients who underwent L-RPLND using the retroperitoneal approach and those who underwent O-RPLND using the transperitoneal *** were no significant differences in the background characteristics of the two groups except for the median follow-up duration(46 months for L-RPLND and 71 months for O-RPLND,p=0.02).Results:L-RPLND was associated with a shorter mean operative time(mean 222 min for L-RPLND vs.453 min for O-RPLND,p<0.001).There was significantly less blood loss during surgery in the L-RPLND group compared to the O-RPLND group(mean 165 mL for L-RPLND vs.403 mL for O-RPLND,p<0.001).Parameters related to postoperative recovery were significantly better for the L-RPLND group than for the O-RPLND *** were no differences in the histopathological characteristics between the two *** patients in either group exhibited disease ***:Patients who underwent L-RPLND had more rapid recovery,and shorter hospital stay compared to those who underwent O-RPLND;complications were comparable between the two groups.L-RPLND is an efficient procedure with the benefits of minimally invasive surgery.
