Non-monotonic temperature evolution of nonlocal structure–dynamics correlation in Cuzr glass-forming liquids

The structure–dynamics correlations in a nonlocal manner were investigated in Cuzr metallic glass-forming liquids via classical molecular dynamics simulations.A spatial coarse-graining approach was employed to incorporate the nonlocal structural information of given structural order parameters in the structure–dynamics *** is found that the correlation between structure order parameters and dynamics increases with increasing coarse-graining length and has a characteristic length ***,the characteristic correlation length exhibits a non-monotonic temperature evolution as temperature approaches glass transition temperature,which is not sensitive to the considered structure order *** results unveil a striking change in the structure–dynamics correlation,which involves no fitting theoretical *** findings provide new insight into the structure–dynamics correlation in glass transition.

In aquaculture industry,fish,shellfish,and aquatic plants are cultivated in fresh,salt,or brackish *** increasing demand of aquatic products has stimulated the rapid growth of aquaculture *** to effectively monitor and control water quality is one of the key concerns for aquaculture industry to ensure high productivity and high *** are four major categories of water quality concerns that affect aquaculture cultivations,namely,(1)physical parameters,e.g.,pH,temperature,dissolved oxygen,and salinity,(2)organic contaminants,(3)biochemical hazards,e.g.,cyanotoxins,and(4)biological contaminants,i.e.,*** the physical parameters are affected by climate changes,the latter three are considered as environmental *** this review,we provide a comprehensive summary of sensors,biosensors,and analytical technologies available for monitoring aquaculture water *** include low-cost commercial sensors and sensor network setups for physical *** also include chromatography,mass spectrometry,biochemistry,and molecular methods(e.g.,immunoassays and polymerase chain reaction assays),culture-based method,and biophysical technologies(e.g.,biosensors and nanosensors)for environmental contamination *** to the different levels of sophistication of various analytical techniques and the information they can provide(either fine fingerprint,highly accurate quantification,semiquantification,qualitative detection,or fast screening),we will comment on how they may be used as complementary tools,as well as their potential and gaps toward current demand of real-time,online,and/or onsite detection.

The effects of operation parameters of combined blowing converter on the volumetric mass transfer coefficient between slag and steel are studied with a cold model with water simulating steel, oil simulating slag and benzoic acid as the transferred substance between water and oil. The results show that, with lance level of 2.1m and the top blowing rate of 25000Nm3/h, the volumetric mass transfer coefficient changes most significantly when the bottom blowing rate ranges from 384 to 540Nm3/h. The volumetric mass transfer coefficient reaches its maximum when the lance level is 2.1m, the top blowing rates is 30000Nm3/h, and the bottom blowing rate is 384Nm3/h with tuyeres located symmetrically at 0.66D of the converter bottom.

Hydrogen economy based on electrochemical water splitting exemplified one of the most promising means for overcoming the rapid consumption of fossil fuels and the serious deterioration of global *** development of earth-abundant,efficient,and durable electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)plays a vital role in the commercialization of water ***,the self-supported electrode with unique nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide(N-rGO)nanoflakes and wS_(2) hierarchical nanoflower that were grown directly on carbon cloth(CC)substrate(wS_(2)/N-rGO/CC)was successfully synthesized using a facile dual-step hydrothermal *** as-synthesized 50%1T/2H-wS_(2)/N-rGO/CC(wGC),which possessed high metallic 1T phase of 57%not only efficiently exposed more active sites and accelerated mass/charge diffusion,but also endowed excellent structural lustiness,robust stability,and durability at a high current *** a result,the 50%wGC exhibited lower overpotentials and Tafel slopes of 21.13 mV(29.55 mV∙dec^(-1))and 80.35 mV(137.02 mV∙dec^(-1))as compared to 20%Pt-C/CC,respectively for catalyzing acidic and alkaline hydrogen evolution ***,the as-synthesized 50%wGC also depicted long-term stability for more than 8 h in the high-current-density regions(100 and 220 mA∙cm^(-2)).In brief,this work reveals a self-supported electrode as an extraordinary alternative to Pt-based catalysts for HER in a wide pH range,while paving a facile strategy to develop advanced electrocatalysts with abundant heterointerfaces for practical applications in energy-saving hydrogen production.

The influence of different modification methods on the surface properties of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) electrodes were investigated by measurements of chemical composition,surface roughness,sheet resistance,contact angle and surface free *** results demonstrate that oxygen plasma treatment more effectively optimizes the surface properties of ITO electrodes compared with the other ***,the polymer light-emitting electrochemical cells (PLECs) with the differently treated ITO substrates as device electrodes were fabricated and *** is found that oxygen plasma treatment on the ITO electrode enhances injection current,luminance and efficiency,thereby improves the device characteristics of the PLECs.

Precipitation of multi-type nano-quasicrystals in a Mg-zn-Y alloy

Mg-6zn-1Y(at.%)ribbons with strengthening precipitates of multi-type nanoquasicrystals were prepared by melt-spinning followed by aging *** evolution of the rapidly solidified ribbons during isothermal aging was comprehensively studied using various electron microscopy *** new kinds of decagonal quasicrystals were formed in aged ribbons,in addition to precipitation of nanometer icosahedral ***-resolution observations reveal that both decagonal quasicrystals can be modeled by quasiperiodic tiling with decagonal clusters of 2.5 nm in diameter,but overlap of neighboring clusters in both decagonal quasicrystals is different from the Gummelt model observed in other quasicrystals.A shell composed of complex Laves Mg-zn domains was formed surrounding each decagonal quasicrystal precipitate upon prolonged *** addition,all kinds of nanoprecipitates exhibit excellent structure and size stability at 573 *** findings may have implications for not only fundamental studies about quasicrystals,but also microstructural manipulation of high-performance Mg alloys.

The morphology of chromium in chilled Cu-Cr alloys with 0.14%-2.0% Cr has been studied. The results showed that eutectic Cr phase takes a fibrous shape, and pre-eutectic Cr is dendritic in the studied chilled Cu-Cr alloy. During solute treatment of the eutectic and super-eutectic Cu-Cr alloys, only part of chromium particles dissolved in copper phase, some fiber and dendritic chromium still remained. Forging before solute treatment can reduce the size of primary Cr particles, which benefits the aging structure.
