Introduction The bench press is commonly used to measure upper-body *** much emphasis has been placed on the upper-body,little is known about how the lower-body can play a role in bench press ***-drive is a technique that includes flexing the knee so the feet line up posterior to the knee joint,while simultaneously contracting the knee extensors isometrically during the *** purpose of this study was to compare strength characteristics of lifters in a standard bench press versus a leg-drive bench press over the course of 5-weeks of *** Twenty-three recreationally active males(age:22.4±2.1 years,height:175.0±5.9 cm,mass:78.4±9.5 kg)were randomized into a standard bench or leg-drive bench press *** performed four sets to failure,two times per week for five *** of interests were training volume and 1-repetition maximum(1RM)*** training volume,a 2×5(group×week)repeated measures analysis of variance(RMANOVA)was *** the 1RM’s,a 2×2×2(group×press type×time)RMANOVA was used.A priori alpha levels were set to *** Over time,both groups showed an approximate 6%increase in 1RM *** volume for week 4 was 5.6%less than week 5,but was not different from weeks 1 through *** between-group differences were observed for 1RM strength or training *** This results of this work indicates that 5 weeks of leg-drive training is effective in increasing 1RM strength,but was not more effective than standard bench press ***,lifters should choose either lifting style based on personal preference.

Background:Physiological and biochemical processes across tissues of the body are regulated in response to the high demands of intense physical activity in several occupations,such as firefighting,law enforcement,military,and sports.A better understanding of such processes can ultimately help improve human performance and prevent illnesses in the work ***:To study regulatory processes in intense physical activity simulating real-life conditions,we performed a multi-omics analysis of 3 biofluids(blood plasma,urine,and saliva)collected from 11 wildland firefighters before and after a 45 min,intense exercise *** profiles ***-exercise were compared by Student’s t-test followed by pathway analysis and comparison between the different omics ***:Our multi-omics analysis identified and quantified 3835 proteins,730 lipids and 182 metabolites combining the 3 different types of *** blood plasma analysis revealed signatures of tissue damage and acute repair response accompanied by enhanced carbon metabolism to meet energy *** urine analysis showed a strong,concomitant regulation of 6 out of 8 identified proteins from the renin-angiotensin system supporting increased excretion of catabolites,reabsorption of nutrients and maintenance of fluid *** saliva,we observed a decrease in 3 pro-inflammatory cytokines and an increase in 8 antimicrobial peptides.A systematic literature review identified 6 papers that support an altered susceptibility to respiratory ***:This study shows simultaneous regulatory signatures in biofluids indicative of homeostatic maintenance during intense physical activity with possible effects on increased infection susceptibility,suggesting that caution against respiratory diseases could benefit workers on highly physical demanding jobs.

Field scale measurement of greenhouse gas emissions from land applied swine manure

Greenhouse gas emissions （GHGs） from swine production systems are relatively well researched with the exception of emissions from land application of manure. GttGs inventories are needed for process- based modeling and science-based regulations. Thus, the objective of this observational study was to measure GHG fluxes from land application of swine manure on a typical corn field. Assessment of GHG emissions from deep injected land-applied swine manure, Phil and reapplication in the spring, on a typical US Midwestern corn-on-corn farm was completed. Static chambers were used Ibr flux measurement along with gas analysis on a GC-FID-ECD＋ Measured gas concentrations were used to estimate GHGs flux using four different models： linear regression, nonlinear regression, first order linear regression and the revised Hutchinson and Mosier （HMR） model, respectively for *** flux esmnates after manure apphcatmn of 5.85×10 g·ha^-1（1 ha = 0.01 km） of CO2 6.60×10^1g·ha^-1 of CH4 and3.48 ×10^3g·ha^-1 N2O for the fall trial and 3.11×10^6g·ha^-1 of CO2,2.95×10^3g·ha^-1 of OH4, and 1.47×10^4g·ha^-1 N2O after the spnng reapphcation trial were observed. The N2O net cumulative flux represents 0.595% of nitrogen applied in swine manure for the fall trial.

Current histopathological staging procedures in colorectal cancer(CRC)depend on midline division of the lymph nodes(lNs)with one section of hematoxylin and eosin *** cells outside this transection line may be missed,which could lead to understaging of Union for International Cancer Control Stage II high-risk *** one-step nucleic acid amplification(OSNA)assay has emerged as a rapid molecular diagnostic tool for lN metastases *** is a molecular technique that can analyze the entire lN tissue using a reversetranscriptase loop-mediated isothermal amplification reaction to detect tumorspecific cytokeratin 19 *** findings suggest that the OSNA assay has a high diagnostic accuracy in detecting metastatic lNs in CRC and a high negative predictive *** is a standardized,observer-independent technique,which may lead to more accurate *** has been suggested that in stage II CRC,the upstaging can reach 25%and these patients can access postoperative adjuvant ***,intraoperative OSNA sentinel node evaluation may allow early CRC to be treated with organ-preserving surgery,while in more advanced-stage disease,a tailored lymphadenectomy can be performed considering the presence of aberrant lymphatic drainage and skip metastases.

In healthy humans, ammonia circulates in the bloodstream at a concentration around 11–32 μmol/l. Whether ammonia plays any physiological role has been unknown until a recent report published in Nature Metabolism.1 Ammonia, long thought to be a toxic waste product of amino acid metabolism, needs to be excreted from the human body as urea. Intriguingly, in this paper, Cheng et al1 for the first time reported that ammonia is not a waste product;rather, it is an unprecedented signaling molecule tying glucose and glutamine to lipid production in human cells. This study revealed that ammonia released from glutamine triggers a cascade of cellular processes leading to the activation of lipogenesis machinery for lipid production (Fig. 1). This discovery has major implications for developing treatments for human diseases such as cancers and metabolic syndromes, as dysregulated metabolism is a hallmark of these diseases.
