AIM： To compare efficacy of proton pump inhibitors （PPIs） with H2-receptor antagonists （H2RA$） plus pro- kinetics （Proks） for dysmotility-like symptoms in func- tional dyspepsia （FD）. METHODS： Subjects were randomized to receive openlabel treatment with either rabeprazole 10 mg od （n = 57） or famotidine 10 mg bid plus mosapride 5 mg tid （n = 57） for 4 wk. The primary efficacy endpoint was change （%） from baseline in total dysmotility-like dyspepsia symptom score. The secondary efficacy endpoint was patient satisfaction with treatment. RESULTS： The improvement in dysmotility-like dyspep- sia symptom score on day 28 was significantly greater in the rabeprazole group （22.5% ± 29.2% of baseline） than the famotidine ＋ mosapride group （53.2%±58.6% of baseline, P 〈 0.0001）. The superior benefit of rabeprazole treatment after 28 d was consistent regardless of Helicobacter pylori status. Significantly more subjects in the rabeprazole group were satisfied or very satisfied with treatment on day 28 than in the famotidine ＋ mosapride group （87.7% vs 59.6%, P = 0.0012）. Rabeprazole therapy was the only significant predictor of treatment response （P 〈 0.0001）, defined as a total symptom score improvement ≥ 50%. CONCLUSION： PPI monotherapy improves dysmotil- ity-like symptoms significantly better than H2RAs plus Proks, and should be the treatment of first choice for Japanese FD.

To understand the deformational behaviours of geosynthetics-reinforced soil retaining walls(GRS RWs),a series of plane-strain shaking table tests was conducted on retaining wall *** backfill of the models was made of poorly graded *** and strains in the gravelly backfill induced by seismic loading are recorded in real time,which are of importance to understand the seismic strength and stability of the GRS RW systems,as strain localisation development in the backfill and foundation is related to the degree of strength degradation of the *** the present study,we aimed at quantifying the induced deformations of the GRS RW models due to *** image correlation(DIC)technique was then employed to analyse and provide full-field deformation and motion images with the *** is demonstrated that,unlike conventional contact devices that are yet limited to provide quantities of a singular and fixed location,DIC provides deformation and motion of the area of interests to reveal the evolution of localisation.

Anticorrosion behavior of conversion coatings obtained from unbuffered cerium salts solutions on AA6061-T6

The anticorrosive properties of cerium based conversion coatings deposited on AA6061-T6 alloy by immersion in tmbuffercd cerium chloride and cerium nitrate solutions in the presence of hydrogen peroxide were investigated and characterized by potentiodynamic po- larization （PDP） and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） in 0.5 mol/L NaCl aqueous solution. The microstructure and chemical composition of the protective films were examined by scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS）. It was found that the best corrosion protection was afforded by the samples treated during 600 s in cerium chloride solution at pH values ~5.5-4, showing higher amounts of cerium and polarization resistance values greater than 10 f~ m2. Moreover, an ennoblement of the corro- sion potential and decreasing of the cathodic and anodic currents were obtained compared with the cerium nitrate solutions application. This behavior was attributed to the influence of the deposition parameters such as type of the salt anion, i.e., chelating effect and chaotropic characteristics, pH fluctuations in the conversion solution and deposition time.

Ore-forming mechanism for the Xiaoxinancha Au-rich Cu deposit in Yanbian,Jilin Province,China:Evidence from noble gas isotope geochemistry of fluid inclusions in minerals

The Xiaoxinancha Au-rich copper deposit is one of important Au-Cu deposits along the continental margin in Eastern China. The deposit consists of two sections: the Beishan mine (North), composed of altered rocks with veinlet-dissemination sulfides and melnicovite-dominated sulfide-quartz veins, and the Nanshan mine (South), composed of pyrrhotite-dominated sulfide-quartz veins and pure sulfide veins. The isotope compositions of noble gases extracted from fluid inclusions in ore minerals, i.e. ratios of 3He/4He, 20Ne/22Ne and40Ar/36Ar are in the ranges of 4.45―0.08 Ra, 10.2―8.8 and 306―430, respectively. Fluid inclusions in minerals from the Nanshan mine have higher 3He/4He and 20Ne/22Ne ratios whereas those from the Beishan mine have lower 3He/4He ratios. The analysis of origin, and evolution of the ore fluids and its relations with the ore-forming stages and the ages of mineralization suggests that the initial hydrothermal fluids probably come from the melts generated by partial melting of oceanic crust with the participation of fluids from the mantle (mantle-plume type)/aesthenosphere. This also corresponds to the continental margin settings during the subduction of Izanagi ocaneic plate towards the palaeo-Asian continent (123―102 Ma). The veinlet-dissemination ore bodies of the Beishan mine were formed through replacement and crystallization of the mixed fluids generated by mixing of the ascending high-temperature boiling fluid with young crustal fluid whereas the melnicovite-dominated sulfide-quartz veins were formed subsequently by filling of the high-temperature ore fluid in fissures. Pyrrhotite-dominated sulfide-quartz veins in the Nanshan mine were formed by filling-deposition-crystallization of the moderate-temperature ore fluids and the pure sulfide veins were formed later by filling-deposition-crystallization of ore substance-rich fluids after boiling of the moderate-temperature ore fluids. Precise analysis of compressive strain effects on electric power generation properties of a lead zirconate titanate piezoelectric ceramic

Electric power generation characteristics of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) piezoelectric ceramic have been examined during cyclic loading with different compressive strain value. A thin PZT ceramic plate attached to a thin brass plate was used. With an increasing compressive strain value in the PZT ceramic plate, the electric voltage increased, and the highest electric voltage was obtained for the sample with the high strain level (0.4%). The electric voltage decreased for the sample with more than 0.45% strain because of the failure in the PZT ceramic. The electric voltage was different depending on the strain condition, where the higher strain and the wider strain range (Δε) made the high electric voltage. Moreover, the electric voltage was attributed to the strain rate, where the higher strain rate made higher electric voltage due to high kinetic energy. The electric generation characteristics could be estimated with an operation of the strain value and strain ratio (εmin/εmax) especially for the sample loaded cyclically under the slow loading speed. This was affected by the linear correlation between the electric voltage and the strain value. Based upon the experimental work, suitable loading condition to make high electric voltage could be proposed.

Precipitation of Icosahedral Quasicrystalline Phase, R-phase and Laves Phase in Ferritic Alloys

Ferritic heat resistant steels involving precipitation of intermetallic phases have drawn a growing interest for the enhancement of creep strength, while the brittleness of the intermetallic phases may lower the toughness of the alloy. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the dispersion characteristics of the intermetallics phase through microstructural control to minimize the trade-off between the strength and toughness. The effects of -Fe matrix substructures on the precipitation sequence, morphology, dispersion characteristics, and the stability of the intermetallic phases are investigated in Fe-Cr-W-Co-Si system. The precipitates of the Si-free Fe-10Cr-l.4W-4.5Co (at%) alloy aged at 873K are the R-phase but those of the Si-added Fe-10Cr-l.4W-4.5Co-0.3Si (at%) alloy are the icosahedral quasicrystalline phase. The precipitates in both the Si-free and Si-added alloys aged at 973K are the Laves phase. Matrix of the alloys is controlled by heat treatments as to provide three types of matrix substructures; ferrite, ferrite/martensite mixture and martensite. The hardening behavior of the alloys depends on the matrix substructures and is independent of the kinds of precipitates. In the alloys with ferrite matrix, the peak of hardness during aging at 873K shifts to longer aging time in comparison with that in the alloys with lath martensite matrix which contain numbers of nucleation sites.
