Grazing and heat stress protection of native grass by a sand-fixing shrub in the arid lands of northern China

The immune system has been attracting increasing attention in the field of chronic neurological disorders in the central nervous system(CNS).Autoreactive T cells targeting CNS antigens play a crucial role in the development of various autoimmune diseases,such as multiple sclerosis(MS)and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder(NMOSD).Moreover,T cells are now recognized as a pivotal contributor to the pathology of neurodegenerative disorders,including Alzheimer's disease(AD),Parkinson's disease(PD),and multiple system atrophy.

A new tube chamber system for evaluation of anterior chamber pressure during phacoemulsification tested in porcine eyes

Effects of Acetic Acid Bacteria (Gluconacetobacter hansenii GK-1) on Fatigue Induced by Temporary Mental Stress: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study

Objective: This study assessed the effects of consuming acetic acid bacteria (Gluconacetobacter hansenii GK-1) for 12 weeks on fatigue induced by temporary mental stress. Methods: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study included 100 healthy male and female adults aged 20 - 64 years. Participants consumed either the G. hansenii GK-1 supplement (9 × 10⁹ cells/day) or a placebo daily for 12 weeks. The impact of temporary mental stress on fatigue in G. hansenii GK-1 was assessed using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) before the study began and after 12 weeks of supplementation. Results: Subjective fatigue measured by Visual Analog Scale (VAS) showed a significant decrease in fatigue induced by temporary mental stress after 12 weeks of consumption in the G. hansenii GK-1 group compared with the placebo group. No adverse events were attributed to G. hansenii GK-1. These findings confirm that continuous oral ingestion of G. hansenii GK-1 by healthy Japanese adults reduces feelings of fatigue caused by temporary mental stress.

Radiofrequency ablation during continuous saline infusion can extend ablation margins

AIM:To determine whether fluid injection during radiofrequency ablation(RFA) can increase the coagulation ***:Bovine liver(1-2 kg) was placed on an aluminum tray with a return electrode affixed to the base,and the liver was punctured by an expandable *** RFA,5% glucose;50% glucose;or saline fluid was infused continuously at a rate of 1.0 mL/min through the infusion line connected to the infusion *** area and volume of the thermocoagulated region of bovine liver were determined after *** Joule heat generated was determined from the temporal change in output during the RFA ***:No liquid infusion was 17.3 ± 1.6 mL,similar to the volume of a 3-cm diameter sphere(14.1 mL).Mean thermocoagulated volume was significantly larger with continuous infusion of saline(29.3 ± 3.3 mL) than with 5% glucose(21.4 ± 2.2 mL),50%glucose(16.5 ± 0.9 mL) or no liquid infusion(17.3 ± 1.6 mL).The ablated volume for RFA with saline was approximately 1.7-times greater than for RFA with no liquid infusion,representing a significant difference between these two *** Joule heat generated during RFA was highest with saline,and lowest with 50% ***:RFA with continuous saline infusion achieves a large ablation zone,and may help inhibit local recurrence by obtaining sufficient ablation *** during continuous saline infusion can extend ablation margins,and may be prevent local recurrence.

The total Disability Adjusted Life Expectancy (DALE) is 74.5 years.

Metachronous penile metastasis from rectal cancer after total pelvic exenteration

Despite its abundant vascularization and extensive circulatory communication with neighboring organs, metastases to the penis are a rare event. A 57-yearold male, who had undergone total pelvic exenteration for rectal cancer sixteen months earlier, demonstrated an abnormal uptake within his penis by positron emission tomography/computed tomography. A single elastic nodule of the middle penis shaft was noted deep within Bucks fascia. No other obvious recurrent site was noted except the penile lesion. Total penectomy was performed as a curative resection based on a diagnosis of isolated penile metastasis from rectal cancer. A histopathological examination revealed an increase of well differentiated adenocarcinoma in the corpus spongiosum consistent with his primary rectal tumor. The immunohistochemistry of the tumor cells demonstrated positive staining for cytokeratin 20 and negative staining for cytokeratin 7, which strongly supported a diagnosis of penile metastasis from the rectum. The patient is alive more than two years without any recurrence.

Development of Electrospray Laser Chemical Vapour Deposition for Homogenous Alumina Coatings

Electrospray,as a liquid source supply system,has been applied to chemical vapour deposition（CVD）.In thermal CVD,the microstructure of the obtained films changes from dense to coarse granular because of the decreasing surface temperature during *** the electrospray laser chemical vapour deposition method,we prepared homogenous alumina *** found that laser irradiation was effective in compensating the surface temperature decrease,and an alpha-alumina coating with dense columnar microstructures was obtained at a deposition rate of 200 μm/h using 200 W Nd：YAG laser irradiation.
