Combination of acoustic radiation force impulse imaging, serological indexes and contrast-enhanced ultrasound for diagnosis of liver lesions

AIM To assess the value of combined acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFI) imaging, serological indexes and contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) in distinguishing between benign and malignant liver lesions. METHODS Patients with liver lesions treated at our hospital were included in this study. The lesions were divided into either a malignant tumor group or a benign tumor group according to pathological or radiological findings. ARFI quantitative detection, serological testing and CEUS quantitative detection were performed and compared. A comparative analysis of the measured indexes was performed between these groups. Receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were constructed to compare the diagnostic accuracy of ARFI imaging, serological indexes and CEUS, alone or in different combinations, in identifying benign and malignant liver lesions. RESULTS A total of 112 liver lesions in 43 patients were included, of which 78 were malignant and 34 were benign. Shear wave velocity(SWV) value, serum alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) content and enhancement rate were significantly higher in the malignant tumor group than in the benign tumor group(2.39 ± 1.20 m/s vs 1.50 ± 0.49 m/s, 18.02 ± 5.01 ng/m L vs 15.96 ± 4.33 ng/m L, 2.14 ± 0.21 d B/s vs 2.01 ± 0.31 d B/s; P < 0.05). The ROC curve analysis revealed that the areas under the curves(AUCs) of SWV value alone, AFP content alone, enhancement rate alone, SWV value + AFP content, SWV value + enhancement rate, AFP content + enhancement rate and SWV value + AFP content + enhancement rate were 85.1%, 72.1%, 74.5%, 88.3%, 90.4%, 82.0% and 92.3%, respectively. Terminal attitude selection method of missile attack aircraft

The appropriate terminal attitude of missile is important to improve the damage effectiveness of fragmentation warhead against aircraft *** this paper,three missile terminal attitude selection methods are proposed to solve the problem of terminal attitude selection in different situations according to their respective evaluation *** MVE-based method uses the damage probability of each detonation point around the aircraft at a given attitude of missile to calculate the Mean Volume of Effectiveness(MVE)at the corresponding attitude,and then uses the MVE for different attitudes to select the terminal strike *** detonation position-based method addresses the case where the missile detonation position can be assessed in *** the effects of missile guidance errors and fuze activation position errors,Monte Carlo simulations are used to calculate the damage probability of aircraft with different strike attitudes,from which the terminal strike attitude is *** BP-ANN model-based method uses the constructed Back Propagation Artificial Neural Network(BP-ANN)model instead of simulation to calculate the evaluation indexes in the corresponding cases of MVE-based method and Detonation position-based method,which can improve the efficiency of attitude *** are conducted for different scenarios to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Chemokine ligand 20 enhances progression of hepatocellular carcinoma via epithelial-mesenchymal transition

AIM: To identify the mechanisms of chemokine ligand 20(CCL20)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) metastasis and evaluate it as a prognostic marker. METHODS: Expression of CCL20 was evaluated by immunohistochemistry in HCC tissues from 62 patients who underwent curative resection. The relationship between CCL20 expression and clinicopathologic features was analyzed. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate its predictive value for recurrence and survival of HCC patients. The expression levels ofepithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)-and signaling pathway-related proteins were evaluated by Western blotting and immunocytochemistry. The effects of CCL20 on HCC cell proliferation and migration were analyzed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenoltetrazolium bromide(MTT) and Transwell assays. RESULTS: CCL20 immunoreactivity was detected in all 62 patient specimens. CCL20 expression was associated with preoperative alpha-fetoprotein level(P = 0.043), tumor size(P = 0.000), tumor number(P = 0.008), vascular invasion(P = 0.014), and tumor differentiation(P = 0.007). Patients with high CCL20 expression had poorer recurrence-free and overall survivals compared to those with low CCL20 expression(both P ke changes in HCC cells and increased their proliferation and migration ability(P ke phenotype in HCC cells, and increased expression of phosphorylated AKT, β-catenin and vimentin, and decreased E-cadherin expression(P < 0.05). The correlation analysis revealed that high CCL20 expression in HCC tissue specimens was negatively correlated with E-cadherin expression(13.33%, 4/30), and positively correlated with vimentin(90.0%, 27/30), β-catenin(96.67%, 29/30) and p-AKT(76.67%, 23/30) ***: CCL20 expression is associated with HCC recurrence and patient survival and promotes HCC cell proliferation and migration by in

Inactive elemental doping is commonly used to improve the structural stability of high-voltage layered transition-metal oxide ***,the one-step co-doping strategy usually results in small grain size since the low diffusivity ions such as Ti^(4+)will be concentrated on grain boundaries,which hinders the grain *** order to synthesize large single-crystal layered oxide cathodes,considering the different diffusivities of different dopant ions,we propose a simple two-step multi-element co-doping strategy to fabricate core–shell structured LiCoO_(2)(CS-LCO).In the current work,the high-diffusivity Al^(3+)/Mg^(2+)ions occupy the core of single-crystal grain while the low diffusivity Ti^(4+)ions enrich the shell *** Ti^(4+)-enriched shell layer(~12 nm)with Co/Ti substitution and stronger Ti–O bond gives rise to less oxygen ligand ***-situ XRD demonstrates the constrained contraction of c-axis lattice parameter and mitigated structural *** a high upper cut-off voltage of 4.6 V,the single-crystal CS-LCO maintains a reversible capacity of 159.8 mAh g^(−1)with a good retention of~89%after 300 cycles,and reaches a high specific capacity of 163.8 mAh g^(−1)at *** proposed strategy can be extended to other pairs of low-(Zr^(4+),Ta^(5+),and W6+,etc.)and high-diffusivity cations(Zn^(2+),Ni^(2+),and Fe^(3+),etc.)for rational design of advanced layered oxide core–shell structured cathodes for lithium-ion batteries.

Berberine Enhances Intestinal Mucosal Barrier Function by Promoting Vitamin D Receptor Activity

Objective:To evaluate if berberine can act on vitamin D receptors(VDR)and thereby regulate the expression of tight junction proteins(TJPs)in irritable bowel syndrome-diarrhea-predominant(IBS-D)***:The newborn rats were induced into IBS-D rat model via neonatal maternal separation combined with acetic acid chemical *** modeling,the model was evaluated and rats were divided into the control group and berberine treatment groups(0.85,1.7 and 3.4 mg/kg,once a day for 2 weeks).The distal colon was obtained and colonic epithelial cells(CECs)were isolated and cultured after IBS-D model *** vitamin D receptor response element(VDRE)reporter gene was determined in the CECs of IBS-D rats to analyze the effect of berberine on the VDRE *** overexpression or silencing technology was used to analyze whether VDR plays a role in promoting intestinal barrier repair,and to determine which region of VDR plays a role in berberine-regulated intestinal ***:The IBS-D rat model was successfully constructed and the symptoms were improved by berberine in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.05).The activity of VDRE promoter was also effectively promoted by berberine(P<0.05).Berberine increased the expression of TJPs in IBS-D CECs(P<0.05).VDR expression was significantly increased after transfection of different domains of VDR when compared to normal control and basic plasmid groups(all P<0.05).RT-qPCR and Western blot results showed that compared with the blank group,expressions of occludin and zonula occludens-1 were significantly higher in VDR containing groups(all P<0.05).Berberine plus pCMV-Myc-VDR-N group exerted the highest expression levels of occludin and zonula occludens-1(P<0.05).Conclusion:Berberine enhances intestinal mucosal barrier function of IBS-D rats by promoting VDR activity,and the main site of action is the N-terminal region of VDR.

Numerical and theoretical study of load transfer behavior during cascading pillar failure

To further study the load transfer mechanism of roofemulti-pillarefloor system during cascading pillar failure(CPF),numerical simulation and theoretical analysis were carried out to study the three CPF modes according to the previous experimental study on treble-pillar specimens,*** failure mode(SFM),domino failure mode(DFM)and compound failure mode(CFM).Based on the finite element code rock failure process analysis(RFPA^(2D)),numerical models of treble-pillar specimen with different mechanical properties were established to reproduce and verify the experimental results of the three CPF *** results show that the elastic rebound of roofefloor system induced by pillar instability causes dynamic disturbance to adjacent pillars,resulting in sudden load increases and sudden jump displacement of adjacent *** phenomena of load transfer in the roofemulti-pillarefloor system,as well as the induced accelerated damage behavior in adjacent pillars,were discovered and *** addition,based on the catastrophe theory and the proposed mechanical model of treble-pillar specimen edisc spring group system,a potential function that characterizes the evolution characteristics of roof emulti-pillarefloor system was *** analytical expressions of sudden jump and energy release of treble-pillar specimenedisc spring group system of the three CPF modes were derived according to the potential *** numerical and theoretical results show good agreement with the experimental *** study further reveals the physical essence of load transfer during CPF of roof emulti-pillarefloor system,which provides references for mine design,construction and disaster prevention.
