Reversed charge transfer induced by nickel in Fe-Ni/Mo_(2)C@nitrogen-doped carbon nanobox for promoted reversible oxygen electrocatalysis

The interaction between metal and support is critical in oxygen catalysis as it governs the charge transfer between these two entities,influences the electronic structures of the supported metal,affects the adsorption energies of reaction intermediates,and ultimately impacts the catalytic *** this study,we discovered a unique charge transfer reversal phenomenon in a metal/carbon nanohybrid ***,electrons were transferred from the metal-based species to N-doped carbon,while the carbon support reciprocally donated electrons to the metal domain upon the introduction of *** led to the exceptional electrocatalytic performances of the resulting Ni-Fe/Mo_(2)C@nitrogen-doped carbon catalyst,with a half-wave potential of 0.91 V towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and a low overpotential of 290 m V at 10 mA cm^(-2)towards oxygen evolution reaction(OER)under alkaline ***,the Fe-Ni/Mo_(2)C@carbon heterojunction catalyst demonstrated high specific capacity(794 mA h g_(Zn)~(-1))and excellent cycling stability(200 h)in a Zn-air *** calculations revealed that Mo_(2)C effectively inhibited charge transfer from Fe to the support,while secondary doping of Ni induced a charge transfer reversal,resulting in electron accumulation in the Fe-Ni alloy *** local electronic structure modulation significantly reduced energy barriers in the oxygen catalysis process,enhancing the catalytic efficiency of both ORR and ***,our findings underscore the potential of manipulating charge transfer reversal between the metal and support as a promising strategy for developing highly-active and durable bi-functional oxygen electrodes.

Enhanced Ion-Selective Diffusion Achieved by Supramolecular Interaction for High Thermovoltage and Thermal Stability

Thermoelectric(TE)generators capable of converting thermal energy into applicable electricity have gained great popularity among emerging energy conversion ***-based ionic thermoelectric(i-TE)materials are promising candidates for energy conversion systems because of their wide sources,innocuity,and low manufacturing ***,common physically crosslinked biopolymer gels induced by single hydrogen bonding or hydrophobic interaction suffer from low differential thermal voltage and poor thermodynamic ***,we develop a novel i-TE gel with supramolecular structures through multiple noncovalent interactions between ionic liquids(ILs)and gelatin molecular *** thermopower and thermoelectric power factor of the ionic gels are as high as 2.83 mV K-1 and 18.33μw m^(-1)K^(-2),*** quasi-solid-state gelatin-[EMIM]DCA i-TE cells achieve ultrahigh 2 h output energy density(E_(2h)=9.9 mJ m^(-2))under an optimal temperature ***,the remarkable stability of the supramolecular structure provides the i-TE hydrogels with a thermal stability of up to 80℃.It breaks the limitation that biopolymer-based i-TE gels can only be applied in the low temperature range and enables biopolymer-based i-TE materials to pursue better performance in a higher temperature range.

Preparation of entangled w states based on the cavity QED system

we present a qubit-loss-free (QLF) fusion scheme for generating large-scale atom w states in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) system. Compared to the most current fusion schemes which are conditioned on the case where one particle can be extracted from each initial w state to the fusion process, our scheme will access one or two particles from each w state. Based on the atom-cavity-field detuned interaction, three |w > n+m+t states can be generated from the |w > n, |w > m, and |w > t states with the help of two auxiliary atoms, and three |w > n+m+t+q states can be generated from |w > n, |w > m, |w > t, and a |w > q state with the help of three auxiliary atoms. Comparing the numerical simulations of the resource cost of fusing three small-size w states based on the previous schemes, our fusion scheme seems to be more efficient. This QLF fusion scheme can be generalized to the case of fusing k different or identical particle w states. Furthermore, with no qubit loss, it greatly reduces the number of fusion steps and prepares w states with larger particle numbers.

Facile intercalation of alkali ions in wO_(3)for modulated electronic and optical properties:Implications for artificial synapses and chromogenic application

Tungsten oxides(wO_(3))are widely recognized as multifunctional systems ow.ng to the existence of rich *** diverse phases exhibit distinct octahedra-tilting patterns,generating substantial tunnels that are ideally suited for ***,a quantitative comprehension regarding the impact of distinct phases on the kinetics of intercalated conducting ions remains ***,we employ first-principles calculations to explore the spatial and orientational correlations of ion transport inγ-and h-wO_(3),shedding light on the relationship between diffusion barriers and the size of the conducting *** findings reveal that different types and concentrations of alkali-metals induce distinct and continuous lattice distortions in wO_(3)***,γ-wO_(3)is more appropriate to accommodate Li+ions,exhibiting a diffusion barrier and coefficient of 0.25 eV and 9.31×10^(-8)cm^(2)s^(-1),***,h-wO_(3)features unidirectional and sizeable tunnels that facilitate the transport of K+ions with an even lower barrier and a high coefficient of 0.11 e V and 2.12×10^(-5)cm^(2)s^(-1),***,the introduction of alkali-metal into wO_(3)tunnels tends to introduce n-type conductivity by contributing s-electrons to the unoccupied w 5d states,resulting in enhanced conductivity and tunable electronic *** alkali metals in wO_(3)tunnels are prone to charge transfer,forming small polaronic states and modulating the light absorption in the visible and nearinfrared *** tunable electronic and optical properties,combined with the high diffusion coefficient,underscore the potential of wO_(3)in applications such as artificial synapses and chromogenic devices.

An Experimental Study on the Effectiveness of Individualized Online Intervention for Mental Health Literacy of Community Residents

Background: Understanding how to improve mental health literacy is conducive to maintaining and promoting individuals’ mental health and well-being. However, to date, interventions for mental health literacy primarily depend on traditional education and contact interventions, which have limitations with regard to pertinence and individualization. Artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technology have influenced mental health services to be more intellectual and digital, and they also provide greater technical convenience for individualized interventions for promoting mental health literacy. However, there is relatively little research on the effectiveness of individualized online intervention for mental health literacy in the literature. This study aims to fill this void. To verify whether individualized online intervention can improve the level of mental health literacy. Methods: we conducted a pretest–post-test control experiment. The participants were recruited from a large community located in central China. A total of 152 participants completed the research. we use mixed linear model estimation and paired t-tests to analyze the data. Results: Individualized online intervention can effectively improve the mental health literacy level of participants. Specifically, we found that compared with the control group, the mental health literacy in the experimental group was significantly improved after receiving individualized online intervention. Likewise, the mental health literacy of the control group has also improved after receiving individualized online intervention. In addition, we compared the mental health literacy level of the experimental group at Time 3 to those at Time 2 and found that the mental health literacy level at Time 3 had not decreased one month later. This shows that individualized online intervention was not only momentarily effective, but also had long-term efficacy. Conclusion: This study illustrates that the individualized online intervent

The 28th Conference of Parties(COP 28)of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC)is being held in Dubai,United Arab Emirates,from November 30 to December 12,2023,with the participation of over 160 world leaders(Figure 1).The tone of the COP 28 is set by the observation that,clearly,the nationally determined contributions related to CO_(2) emission reduction are not on track to curb the temperature rise as per the Paris *** order to hold the increase in global mean temperature to well below 2℃ above the pre-industrial level and to pursue efforts to limit the warming to 1.5℃,there is a need for ratcheting up ambition for near-term climate action.

High-responsivity on-chip waveguide coupled germanium photodetector for 2 μm waveband

Recently,the emerging 2μm waveband has gained increasing interest due to its great potential for a wide scope of *** with the existing optical communication windows at shorter wavelengths,it also offers distinct advantages of lower nonlinear absorption,better fabrication tolerance,and larger free carrier plasma effects for silicon photonics,which has been a proven device *** much progress has been witnessed for silicon photonics at the 2μm waveband,the primary challenge still exists for on-chip *** the maturity and compatibility of the waveguide coupled photodetectors made of germanium,the 2μm regime is far beyond its cutoff *** this work,we demonstrate an efficient and high-speed on-chip waveguidecoupled germanium photodetector operating at the 2μm *** weak sub-bandgap absorption of epitaxial germanium is greatly enhanced by a lateral separation absorption charge multiplication *** detector is fabricated by the standard process offered by a commercial *** device has a benchmark performance with responsivity of 1.05 A/w and 3 dB bandwidth of 7.12 GHz,which is able to receive high-speed signals with up to 20 Gbit/s data *** availability of such an efficient and fast on-chip detector circumvents the barriers between silicon photonic integrated circuits and the potential applications at the 2μm waveband.

Advancing large-scale thin-film PPLN nonlinear photonics with segmented tunable micro-heaters

Thin-film periodically poled lithium niobate (TF-PPLN) devices have recently gained prominence for efficient wavelength conversion processes in both classical and quantum applications. However, the patterning and poling of TF-PPLN devices today are mostly performed at chip scales, presenting a significant bottleneck for future largescale nonlinear photonic systems that require the integration of multiple nonlinear components with consistent performance and low cost. Here, we take a pivotal step towards this goal by developing a wafer-scale TF-PPLN nonlinear photonic platform, leveraging ultraviolet stepper lithography and an automated poling process. To address the inhomogeneous broadening of the quasi-phase matching(QPM) spectrum induced by film thickness variations across the wafer, we propose and demonstrate segmented thermal optic tuning modules that can precisely adjust and align the QPM peak wavelengths in each section. Using the segmented micro-heaters, we show the successful realignment of inhomogeneously broadened multi-peak QPM spectra with up to 57% enhancement of conversion efficiency. we achieve a high normalized conversion efficiency of 3802% w-1cm-2in a 6 mm long PPLN waveguide, recovering 84% of the theoretically predicted efficiency in this device. The advanced fabrication techniques and segmented tuning architectures presented herein pave the way for wafer-scale integration of complex functional nonlinear photonic circuits with applications in quantum information processing, precision sensing and metrology, and low-noise-figure optical signal amplification.

Conflict-free Incidence Coloring of Outer-1-planar Graphs

An incidence of a graph G is a vertex-edge pair(v, e) such that v is incidence with e. A conflict-free incidence coloring of a graph is a coloring of the incidences in such a way that two incidences(u, e) and(v, f)get distinct colors if and only if they conflict each other, i.e.,(i) u = v,(ii) uv is e or f, or(iii) there is a vertex w such that uw = e and vw = f. The minimum number of colors used among all conflict-free incidence colorings of a graph is the conflict-free incidence chromatic number. A graph is outer-1-planar if it can be drawn in the plane so that vertices are on the outer-boundary and each edge is crossed at most once. In this paper, we show that the conflict-free incidence chromatic number of an outer-1-planar graph with maximum degree ? is either 2? or 2? + 1 unless the graph is a cycle on three vertices, and moreover, all outer-1-planar graphs with conflict-free incidence chromatic number 2? or 2? + 1 are completely characterized. An efficient algorithm for constructing an optimal conflict-free incidence coloring of a connected outer-1-planar graph is given.
