Superlubricity control is of great interest in both.industry and scientific research,and several methods have been proposed to achieve this *** this work,ultraviolet(UV)light was introduced into titanium dioxide(TiO_(2))and silicon nitride(Si_(3)N_(4))tribosystems to accomplish photoinduced *** friction coefficients(COFs)between Si_(3)N_(4) balls and TiO_(2) plates in the mixtures of sulfuric acid(h^(2)SO_(4))solution and glycerol solution were obviously reduced,and the system entered the superlubricity region(COFillumination at a speed of 56 mm/***,the COF was much larger without UV treatment than that with UV *** formation of silica(SiO_(2))layers on the surfaces of Si_(3)N_(4) balls and the elastohydrodynamic effects were determined to be fundamental to the low friction in this experiment,and the enhancement of the combination between the TiO_(2) surface and the hydroxy group of glycerol by UV illumination was the key to the photoinduced superlubricity in this *** findings showed one method for achieving superlubricity by introducing a light field that could be further applied to special working conditions.

in the present paper,the unsteady cavitating turbulent flow over the twisted NACA66 hydrofoil is investigated based on an modified shear stress transfer k-ωpartially averaged Navier-Stokes(MSST PANS)model,i.e.,new MSST PANS(NMSST PANS)model,where the production term of kinetic energy in the turbulence model is modified with *** with the experimental data,cavitation evolution and its characteristic frequency are satisfactorily predicted by the proposed NMSST PANS *** is revealed that the interaction among the main flow,the reentrant jets,and sheet cavitation causes the formation of the primary shedding cavity near the mid-span and the secondary shedding cavity at each side of the twisted hydrofoil,and further induces the remarkable pressure gradient around shedding *** with the development of the primary and the secondary shedding cavities,the great pressure gradient associated with large cavity volume variation promotes the vortical flow generation and the spatial deformation of vortex structure during cavitation evolution,and results in the primary and the secondary U-type ***,dynamic mode decomposition(DMD)analysis is utilized to confirm the interaction among the main flow,the main reentrant jet and two side reentrant jets,and *** results indicate that the proposed NMSST PANS model is suitable to simulate the complicated cavitating turbulent flow for various engineering applications.

A machine learning-based strategy for predicting the mechanical strength of coral reef limestone using X-ray computed tomography

Different sedimentary zones in coral reefs lead to significant anisotropy in the pore structure of coral reef limestone(CRL),making it difficult to study mechanical *** X-ray computed tomography(CT),112 CRL samples were utilized for training the support vector machine(SVM)-,random forest(RF)-,and back propagation neural network(BPNN)-based models,***,the machine learning model was embedded into genetic algorithm(GA)for parameter optimization to effectively predict uniaxial compressive strength(UCS)of *** indicate that the BPNN model with five hidden layers presents the best training effect in the data set of *** SVM-based model shows a tendency to overfitting in the training set and poor generalization ability in the testing *** RF-based model is suitable for training CRL samples with large *** of Pearson correlation coefficient matrix and the percentage increment method of performance metrics shows that the dry density,pore structure,and porosity of CRL are strongly correlated to ***,the P-wave velocity is almost uncorrelated to the UCS,which.is significantly distinct from the law for homogenous *** addition,the pore tensor proposed in this paper can effectively reflect the pore structure of coral framework limestone(CFL)and coral boulder limestone(CBL),realizing the quantitative characterization of the heterogeneity and anisotropy of *** pore tensor provides a feasible idea to establish the relationship between pore structure and mechanical behavior of CRL.

Objective: Abnormal metabolism is the underlying reason for breast cancer progression. Decreased lactate dehydrogenase B(LDhB) has been detected in breast cancer but the function of LDhB remains ***: Western blot was used to analyze LDhB expression in breast cancer cells. The impact of LDhB on tumor cell migration and invasion was determined using Transwell assays, wound healing assays, and a mouse lung metastasis model. Subcutaneous tumor formation, a natural killer(NK) cell cytotoxicity assay, and flow cytometry evaluated NK cell activation. immunofluorescence and quantitative real-time PCR detected NK cell activation markers. Kaplan-Meier analysis evaluated the effect of immune cell infiltration on prognosis. Single-sample gene set enrichment analysis determined NK cell activation scores. A support vector machine predicted the role of LDhB in NK cell ***: in this study we showed that LDhB inhibits the breast cancer cell metastasis and orchestrates metabolic reprogramming within tumor cells. Our results revealed that LDhB-mediated lactic acid clearance in breast cancer cells triggers NK cell activation within the tumor microenvironment. Our findings, which were confirmed in a murine model, demonstrated that LDhB in tumor cells promotes NK cell activation and ultimately results in the eradication of malignant cells. Clinically, our study further validated that LDhB affects immune cell infiltration and function. Specifically, its expression has been linked to enhanced NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity and improved patient survival. Extensive efforts have been made to pursue a low-friction state with promising applications in many fields,such as mechanical and biomedical *** which,the load capacity of the low-friction state has been considered to be crucial for industrial ***,we report a low friction under ultrahigh contact pressure by building a novel self-assembled fluorinated azobenzene layer on an atomically smooth highly-oriented pyrolytic graphite(hOPG)*** friction coefficients could be as low as 0.0005 or even lower under a contact pressure of up to 4 *** demonstrates that the low friction under ultrahigh contact pressure is attributed to molecular *** fluorination leads to effective and robust lubrication between the tip and the self-assembled layer and enhances tighter rigidity which can reduce the stress concentration in the substrate,which was verified by density functional theory(DFT)and molecular dynamics(MD)*** work provides a new approach to avoid the failure of ultralow friction coefficient under relatively high contact pressure,which has promising potential application value in the future.
