Plants sense neighbor proximity as a decrease in the red to far-red ratio of incoming light,which triggers a series of developmental responses known collectively as the "shade avoidance syndrome"(SAS).In Arabidopsis thalianu,phytochrome B is the major sensor of shade light,but to date phytochrome excitation has not been linked directly to a growth response. We show that the bHLH transcription factor,PIF7,previously shown to interact with phytochrome B,accumulates in its dephosphorylated form in shade,allowing it to bind to the promoters of a subset of auxin biosynthetic genes and increase their *** new auxin is required for changes in growth in the shade,our studies link directly the perception of a light quality signal to a rapid growth *** are also working on a most shade induced gene PIL1 and find PIL1 protein accumulates after shade treatment and PIL1 overexpression attenuates expression of many shade-induced ***,PIL1 protein represses PIL1 expression to form a self-limiting feedback ***,PIL1 is a negative regulator of the shade-induced transcriptional response in Arabidopsis.

Assessment of Groundwater Physico-Chemical Quality in the Ouémé Delta (Southern-Benin)

Groundwater resources are the main sources of water used to supply drinking water to the population of the Ouémé Delta via the Continental Terminal aquifer. Urbanization, population growth, and agricultural and industrial activities have resulted in a deterioration in the quality of these resources. To assess the quality of the delta’s groundwater and its suitability for human consumption and irrigation, a total of fourteen (14) physico-chemical parameters were analyzed in some forty existing water points between September 2020 and March 2021, using standard water analysis techniques. The values obtained were compared with the potability standards recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Republic of Benin and were subjected to statistical analysis (principal component analysis (PCA)). In addition, methods for determining the suitability of water for irrigation were used. The results showed that the waters are acidic to slightly neutral and influenced by ambient temperature. In addition, the waters are moderately mineralized, with conductivities (24 - 1205 μS/cm) in line with WHO standards. A comparison of the analytical results of the WHO (2017) and Benin (2001) standards indicates that the majority of the waters studied are of good quality for all the chemical parameters considered. Nevertheless, some samples show levels of nitrates (21%), potassium (14% to 16%), calcium (13%), ammonium (12%), nitrites (8%) and bicarbonates (10%) over their respective standards. The Wilcox and Riverside diagrams indicate that the majority of waters (90%) have excellent suitability for irrigation and no negative effect on soil fertilization.

柬埔寨是世界最不发达国家之一,贫困人口占36%,农业作为柬埔寨国民经济的第一大支柱产业却因由于恶劣的自然环境、贫乏的资源情况、不完善的农业管理体制和柬埔寨政府不完善的农业管理职能等种种问题而陷入困境,严重阻碍了经济发展。本文首先对政府职能、政府农业管理职能等基础理论进行了论述,其次简单地介绍了美国、加拿大、日本等国家在农业管理中的职能发挥情况。对柬埔寨农业发展现存在的诸如基础设施差、农民素质低、农业开发落后、随市场波动性大等问题进行了介绍,总结了柬埔寨政府在农业管理职能中所存在的一些问题,如职能缺位、越位、错位等定位不准确,职能机构重叠交叉,缺乏农业管理职能配套措施等。针对这些问题,本文结合其他发达或较发达国政府的农业管理经验,提出了完善柬埔寨政府的农业管理职能的主要措施,即要从以下几方面着手：完善柬埔寨政府农业管理体制、转变农业管理职能方向、加强宏观管理职能、支持职能、保护职能、转变农业管理部门官员对农业管理职能发挥的思想认识等。

Swallowing function in myasthenia gravis (MG) was investigated by videofluoros copy (VF). A total of 23 VF examinations were performed on 11 MG patients at var ious time points over the exacerbation and remission stages of disease. The asse ssment parameters on VF examination are set as follows: bolus transport from the mouth to the pharynx, bolus holding in the oral cavity, velopharyngeal seal, to ngue base movement,pharyngeal constriction, laryngeal elevation, upper esophagea lsphincter (UES) opening, and bolus stasis at the pyriform sinus(PS). Aspiration was also assessed on VF examination. Aspiration was seen in 34.8%, and half of these cases involved silent aspiration. Three of four cases that showed silent aspiration went on to experience aspiration pneumonia during the follow-up term . By Spearman’s rank correlation, disturbance of laryngeal elevation was signif icantly correlated with aspiration(p=0.001), and incomplete UES opening was not significantly,but tended to be,correlated with aspiration(p=0.067). Although oth er parameters in the oral and pharyngeal phase on VF examination, such as bolus transport from the oral cavity to the pharynx, pharyngeal constriction, or stasi s at the PS, were remarkably disturbed (in more than 50%of the examinations),th ose parameters were not good indicators for aspiration. When a disturbance of la ryngeal elevation is found at a bedside clinical test, we recommend performing p recise swallowing evaluation,such as VF, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swa llowing(FEES), and/or scintigraphic assessment of swallowing, for MG patients, t o detect silent aspiration.
