A Novel Thermomorphic System for Electrocatalytic Diels-Alder Reactions

The discovery that lithium bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonamide (LiTFSI)/1-nitropropane (PrNO2) solution functions as a less polar alternative to lithium perchlorate (LiClO4)/nitromethane (MeNO2) solution has led to the development of a novel thermomorphic system for electrocatalytic Diels-Alder reactions. Methyl cyclohexane (Me-c-Hex) can form a monophasic condition with LiTFSI/PrNO2 solution at room temperature, enabling the use of hydrophobic dienophiles. After the electrochemical reaction, a biphasic condition can be formed at –50℃, where the cycloadducts are selectively recovered from the upper Me-c-Hex phase and the remaining lower LiTFSI/PrNO2 solution can be reused.

目的通过三维重建CT研究青少年特发性脊柱侧弯（AIS）胸椎椎弓根螺钉置入角度,指导在AIS手术治疗中安全、准确置入椎弓根螺钉。方法对30例含有主胸弯的AIS患者T1-T12三维重建CT进行测量。测量的参数包括椎弓根螺钉横向角、椎弓根横向角、椎体轴面旋转角、椎弓根螺钉长度和椎弓根宽度。结果右侧椎弓根螺钉横向角从T1逐渐减少到T9,然后上升到T12;左侧椎弓根螺钉横向角从T1逐渐减少到T4,然后增加到T9,最后减少到T12。右侧椎弓根横向角从T1逐渐减少到T4,从T4到T12相对稳定于10°左右;左侧椎弓根横向角从T1逐渐减少到T7,从T7到T12相对稳定于5°左右。椎体轴面旋转角从T1逐渐减少到T3,然后逐渐上升到T9,最后减少到T12。椎弓根螺钉横向角和椎体轴面旋转角相关（P〈0.05）,在同一胸椎节段,椎弓根螺钉横向角和椎体轴面旋转角之间的椎弓根横向角相对恒定。椎弓根螺钉长度为（37.0±5.1）mm,椎弓根宽度为（5.6±1.6）mm。结论掌握椎弓根螺钉横向角、椎弓根横向角、椎体轴面旋转角、椎弓根螺钉长度和椎弓根宽度的特点及其在凹侧和凸侧的差异对安全、准确置入椎弓根螺钉有重要参考价值。

Sphingosine 1-phosphate （S1P）, a pleiotropic lysophospholipid, regulates signal transduction pathway via Gprotein-coupled receptors termed S1P1-5 in several types of the cells including lymphocytes. Higher levels of S1P4 mRNA as well as S1P1 mRNA are expressed in lymphoid tissues such as the spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, and Payer＇s patches. In contrast to S1P1 that plays an essential role in lymphocyte egress, little is known about the role of S1P4 in immune system. In this study, we found that S1P at 10 to 100 nM significantly induced the cell migration and the significant levels of S1P1 and S1P4 mRNA were expressed in mouse CD4 T cells, D10.G4.1 mouse Th2 cells, and ***-2 mouse thymoma cells. In D10.G4.1 and ***-2 cells, S1P-induced migration was almost completely inhibited by pretreatment with pertussis toxin, Clostoridium difficile toxin B, and （S）-enantiomer of FTY720-phosphate, a potent agonist at S1P1 and S1P4. The members of the Rho family small GTPase, Cdc42 and Rac were activated by S1P stimulation in these cells. The transfection with dominant negative or constitutively active forms of Cdc42 and Rac revealed that the activation of both Cdc42 and Rac is essential for S1P-induced migration of these cells. The immunoprecipitation assays using CHO cells co-expressing both S1P4 and S1P1 receptors indicated that S1P4 and S1P1 are associated on the cell surface. These results suggest that the association of S1P4 and S1PI plays an important role in migratory response of mouse T cells toward S1P.

Effectiveness of nature reserves for bird conservation in urban parks in Tokyo

In some urban parks in Tokyo,semi-natural habitat patches are maintained as nature reserves for birds,called bird *** censuses and vegetation surveys were conducted in eight urban parks in Tokyo from December 2015 to July 2016 to determine the effectiveness of bird sanctuaries on avian species *** relationship between avian species composition and environmental conditions was analyzed by partial redundancy analysis(partial RDA)using vegetation variables,number of visitors,presence or absence of reserves within the same park,area of wooded parts,and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)in the surrounding *** results of the partial RDA are as follows:(1)Area,lower vegetation cover,higher vegetation cover,tree species composition obtained from detrended correspondence analysis(DCA)on vegetation survey data,and NDVI in the surrounding area were considered as covariates and explained 17.4-33.6%of the total variation in bird species composition,(2)The presence or absence of sanctuary significantly explained bird species compositional variation regardless of season,indicating that the sanctuaries were beneficial for urban avoider species not only in the sanctuaries but also in the surrounding wooded area,and(3)Tree coverage within a 100 m range and leaf litter coverage also influenced avian species *** concluded that bird sanctuaries and other nature reserves can be beneficial to bird conservation,even within *** positive effect of sanctuaries could be due to the limited influence of human presence and the developed vegetation within *** reserves may play the role of core habitats within the studied urban parks.

The Mariana Trench is the deepest location on earth and harbors unique microbial communities as evidenced by 16S rRNA gene amplicon and metagenomic *** culturable microorganisms from the Mariana Trench will contribute to a further understanding of hadal biogeochemical processes and act as a unique microbial reservoir with potential ***,825 bacterial strains,identified by 16S rRNA gene sequencing,were isolated from 12 water depths(0-10,400 m)of the Mariana Trench with 2216E and R2A media at 4℃ or 28℃ on four cruises during *** bacteria belong to four phyla,nine classes,27 orders,45 families and 108 ***,Gammaproteobacteria,Actinobacteria_c,Bacilli and Flavobacteriia were the most abundant classes,accounting for 37.9%,33.0%,11.8%,8.6%and 8.0%of the total bacterial isolates,respectively.2216E and R2A media were found to have a better selectivity to Bacilli and Flavobacteriia,*** strains were potential novel bacterial species with a 16S rRNA gene similarity<98.65%,and a higher percentage of novel strains were obtained from R2A than 2216E ***,301(150 species)out of 354 strains(178 species)selected from each depth could degrade at least one of the ten kinds of macromolecules *** results indicate that there is a high diversity of culturable bacteria in the Mariana Trench and they can produce a variety of extracellular *** study provides a valuable resource of microorganisms for investigating their biogeochemical roles in the Mariana Trench and for industrial applications.

We previously proposed a method for creating product maps with SOM （Self-Organizing Maps） to be used during purchase decision making. In that study, we first established two class boundaries, which divide the area between the minimum and maximum range of an input feature value into three equal parts. Then, we produced self-organizing product maps using classification data inputs. Finally, we applied our method to five product types and confirmed its effectiveness. In this paper, we propose a method for selecting alternatives from a product map, in which we have located a favorite several examples of selecting alternatives and making decisions using cluster, and/or from a favorite component map. We then show the AHP （Analytic Hierarchy Process）.

Although the nicotinamide nucleotides NAD（H） and NADP（H） are essential for various metabolic reactions that play major roles in maintenance of cellular homeostasis, the significance of NAD biosynthesis is not well under- stood. Here, we investigated the dynamics of pollen nicotinamide nucleotides in response to imbibition, a representative germination cue. Metabolic analysis with capillary electrophoresis electrospray ionization mass spectrometry revealed that excess amount of NAD＊ is accumulated in freshly harvested dry pollen, whereas it dramatically decreased immedi- ately after contact with water, importantly, excess of NAD~ impaired pollen tube growth. Moreover, NAD~ accumulation was retained after pollen was imbibed in the presence of NAD^-consuming reaction inhibitors and pollen germination was greatly retarded. Pollen deficient in the nicotinate/nicotinamide mononucleotide adenyltransferase （NMNAT） gene, encoding a key enzyme in NAD biosynthesis, and a lack of NAD＊ accumulation in the gametophyte, showed precocious pollen tube germination inside the anther Iocule and vigorous tube growth under high-humidity conditions. Hence, the accumulation of excess NAD＊ is not essential for pollen germination, but instead participates in regulating the timing of germination onset. These results indicate that NAD＋ accumulation acts to negatively regulate germination and a decrease in NAD＋ plays an important role in metabolic state transition.

Post-polypectomy bleeding and thromboembolism risks associated with warfarin vs direct oral anticoagulants

AIM To verify the validity of the endoscopy guidelines for patients taking warfarin or direct oral anticoagulants(DOAC).METHODS We collected data from 218 patients receiving oral anticoagulants(73 DOAC users, 145 warfarin users) and 218 patients not receiving any antithrombotics(age-and sexmatched controls) who underwent polypectomy.(1) We evaluated post-polypectomy bleeding(PPB) risk in patients receiving warfarin or DOAC compared with controls;(2) we assessed the risks of PPB and thromboembolism between three AC management methods: Discontinuing AC with heparin bridge(HPB)(endoscopy guideline recommendation), continuing AC, and discontinuing AC without *** PPB rate was significantly higher in warfarin users and DOAC users compared with controls(13.7% and 13.7% vs 0.9%, P < 0.001), but was not significantly different between rivaroxaban(13.2%), dabigatran(11.1%), and apixaban(13.3%) users. Two thromboembolic events occurred in warfarin users, but none in DOAC users. Compared with the continuing anticoagulant group, the discontinuing anticoagulant with HPB group(guideline recommendation) had a higher PPB rate(10.8% vs 19.6%, P = 0.087). These findings were significantly evident in warfarin but not DOAC users. One thrombotic event occurred in the discontinuing anticoagulant with HPB group and the discontinuing anticoagulant without HPB group; none occurred in the continuing anticoagulant *** PPB risk was similar between patients taking warfarin and DOAC. Thromboembolism was observed in warfarin users only. The guideline recommendations for HPB should be re-considered.
