s.udies.of apical dominance have benefited greatly from two-branch as.ays.in pea and bean, in which the s.oot s.s.em is.trimmed back to leave only two active cotyledonary axillary branches. In thes. two-branch s.oots. a large body of evidence s.ows.that one actively growing branch is.able to inhibit the growth of the other, prompting s.udies.on the nature of the inhibitory s.gnals. which are s.ill poorly unders.ood. Here, we des.ribe the es.ablis.ment of two-branch as.ays.in Arabidops.s. us.ng cons.cutive branches.on the bolting s.em. As.with the clas.ical s.udies.in pea and bean, thes. cons.cutive branches.are able to inhibit one another＇s.growth. Not only can the upper branch inhibit the lower branch, but als. the lower branch can inhibit the upper branch, illus.rating the bi-directional action of the inhibitory s.gnals. Us.ng mutants. we s.ow that the inhibition is.partially dependent on the MAX pathway and that while the inhibition is.clearly trans.itted acros. the s.em from the active to the inhibited branch, the vas.ular connectivity of the two branches.is.weak, and the MAX pathway is.capable of acting unilaterally in the s.em.

In this.s.udy,a flexoelectric layer is.laminated on ring s.ells.to monitor the modal s.gnal *** to the s.rain gradient,only the bending s.rain component contributes.to the output *** total s.gnal contains.two bending s.rain gradient components.res.ectively induced by the trans.ers. modal os.illation and the circumferential modal *** analys.s.s.gges.s.that the bending component s.gnal induced by the trans.ers. modal os.illation is.dominant and its.magnitude s.ows.nearly the s.me as.the total *** s.gnals.are evaluated in cas. s.udies.with different ring modes.and s.ns.r s.gment s.zes. Res.lts.indicate that the total s.gnal increas.s.with the mode number,decreas.s.with the s.ns.r s.gment s.ze. Thes. res.lts.s.rve as.des.gn guideline to s.lect proper s.gment patches.for practical engineering applications.us.ng flexoelectric trans.ucers.

Es.rogen has.various.phys.ological functions.and the es.rogen receptor (ER) is.a key regulator of thos. functions. ERα is.a ligand-dependent trans.ription factor and that activity is.mediated by the trans.ctivating function-1 (AF-1) in the N-terminal domain and trans.ctivating function-2 (AF-2) in the C-terminal ligand-binding domain. The functions.of ERα AF-1 and AF-2 have been characterized by various.in vitro experiments. however, there is.s.ill les. information about the in vivo phys.ological functions.of ERα AF-1 and AF-2. Recently, we es.ablis.ed a genetically mutated ERα AF-2 knock-in mous. (AF2ERKI) that pos.es.ed L543A, L544A mutated-ERα. This.AF-2 core mutation dis.upted AF-2 function and res.lted in ERα null phenotypes. This.mous. model revealed that proper AF-2 core s.ructure and function were indis.ens.ble for ERα-mediated phys.ological res.ons.s.and AF-1 functionality. AF2ER mutation revers.s.the ERα antagonis.s.to agonis.s.and that activity is.mediated by AF-1 s.lely. The pure antagonis., ICI182780/fulves.rant, activated s.veral es.rogen-mediated phys.ological res.ons.s.in the AF2ERKI mous.. The AF2ERKI mous. model will be us.ful to dis.ern es.rogen phys.ological functions.which involve AF-1.

There are five vital s.gns.that healthcare providers.as.es.: temperature, puls., res.iration, blood pres.ure, and pain. Normal levels.for the five vital s.gns.are publis.ed by the American Heart As.ociation, and other s.ecialty organizations. however, the s.xth vital s.gn (res.lience) which adopts.the meas.re of immune res.lience is.s.gges.ed in this.paper. Res.lience is.the ability of the immune s.s.em to res.ond to attacks.and defend effectively agains. infections.and inflammatory s.res.ors. and ps.chological res.lience is.the capacity to res.s., adapt, recover, thrive, and grow from a challenge or a s.res.or. Individuals.with better optimal immune res.lience had better health outcomes.than thos. with minimal immune res.lience. The purpos. of this.paper is.to conceptualize, contextualize, and operationalize all s.x vital s.gns. We s.gges. meas.ring res.lience s.bjectively and objectively. s.bjectively, us. a 5-item guided interview revis.d from the Connor-Davids.n Res.lience s.ale (CDRC), a s.ale of 10 items. The revis.d CDRC s.ale is.a 5-item s.ale. The s.ale is.rated on a 5-point Likert s.ale from 0 (not true) to 4 (true all the time). The total s.ore ranges.from 0 to 20, with higher total s.ores.indicating greater res.lience. The s.ale demons.rated good cons.ruct validity and internal cons.s.ency (α = 0.85) during the development of the s.ale. The CD-RIs. had a good Cronbach’s.alpha level of 0.85. The Revis.d CD-RIs. can be completed in 2 - 4 minutes. To meas.re res.lience objectively, we s.gges. us.ng Immune Res.lience (IR) levels. the level of res.lience to pres.rve and/or rapidly res.ore immune res.lience functions.that promote dis.as. res.s.ance and control inflammation and other inflammatory s.res..
