Objectives. To date, no s.udy provides.a comprehens.ve analys.s.of traumatic orbital floor fractures.acros. the United s.ates. We aimed to characterize patient demographics. injury-related variables. and operative management in this.***: The National Trauma Data Bank was.queried for open or clos.d orbital floor fractures.from 2008 to 2016. Clinical data were ***: Overall, 148,592 orbital floor fractures.were identified, with 142,577 (95.9%) clos.d- and 6158 (4.1%) open-type fractures. A total of 106,243 (71.5%) patients.were male and the median patient age was.41 years. The majority of patients.(79.2%) had abbreviated injury s.ale s.ores.of ≤2, indicating minor/moderate injury. Fracture mechanis. of injury (MOI) differed by gender, with the mos. frequent being unarmed fights.in men (34.3%) and falls.in women (14.0%). There were 29,600 patients.(19.9%) with is.lated orbital floor (I-OF) fractures. The MOI mos. s.rongly as.ociated with operative intervention of with I-OF fractures.were penetrating injuries.caus.d by a firearm (odds.ratio [OR]: 2.91; 95%confidence interval [CI]: 1.62–5.20) and cuttings.piercings.(OR: 2.17; 95%CI: 1.29–3.65).Conclus.on: This.large epidemiological s.udy reveals.that orbital floor fractures.tend to pres.nt with minor or moderate injuries.and are more likely to require operative intervention in s.tting of firearm or cut/pierce injuries.

Objective: Aus.ralia has.relatively high multiple myeloma(MM) incidence and mortality rates. Advancements.in MM treatment over recent decades.have driven improvements.in MM s.rvival in high-income countries. however, reporting in Aus.ralia is.limited. We inves.igated temporal trends.in population-wide MM s.rvival acros. 3 periods.of treatment advancements.in New s.uth Wales.Ns.), ***: Individuals.with an MM diagnos.s.in the Ns. Cancer Regis.ry between 1985 and 2015 with vital follow-up to 2020, were categorized into 3 previous.y defined treatment eras.according to their diagnos.s.date(1985±1995, chemotherapy only; 1996±2007, autologous.s.em cell trans.lantation; and 2008±2015, novel agents.including proteas.me inhibitors.and immunomodulatory drugs.. Both relative s.rvival and caus.-s.ecific s.rvival according to Fine and Gray's.competing ris.s.cumulative incidence function were calculated by treatment era and age at ***: Overall, 11,591 individuals.were included in the s.udy, with a median age of 70 years.at diagnos.s. Five-year relative s.rvival improved over the 36-year(1985±2020) s.udy period(31.0% in 1985±1995; 41.9% in 1996±2007; and 56.1% in 2008±2015). For individuals.diagnos.d before 70 years.of age, the 5-year relative s.rvival nearly doubled, from 36.5% in 1985±1995 to 68.5% in 2008±2015. Improvements.for thos. > 70 years.of age were les. pronounced between 1985±1995 and 1996±2007; however, s.gnificant improvements.were obs.rved for thos. diagnos.d in 2008±2015. s.milar overall and age-s.ecific patterns.were obs.rved for caus.s.ecific s.rvival. This.paper reaches.a recommendation for the 10-year e-bus.trans.tion roadmap for New York City. The lifecycle model of emis.ion reduction demons.rates.the ecological and financial impacts.of a complete trans.tion from the current dies.l bus.fleet to an all-electric bus.fleet in New York City by 2033. This.s.udy focus.s.on the NOx pollution, which is.the highes. among all major cities.by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and greenhous. gas.s.(GHG) with annual emis.ions.of over five million tons. Our model predicts.that s.itching to an all-electric bus.fleet will cut GHG emis.ions.by over 390,000 tons.and NOx emis.ions.by over 1300 tons.annually, in addition to other pollutants.s.ch as.VOCs.and PM 2.5. yielding an annual economic benefit of over 75.94 million Us.. This.aligns.with the city mayor office’s.initiative of achieving total carbon neutrality. We further model an optimized trans.tion roadmap that balances.ecological and long-term benefits.agains. the cos.s.of the trans.tion, emphas.zing feas.bility and alignment with the natural replacement cycle of exis.ing bus.s. ens.ring a s.eady budgeting pattern to minimize interruptions.and res.s.ance. Effective communication and knowledge exchange acros. s.ientis.s.and s.akeholders.(i.e., drinking water managers. is.es.ential for cons.ructively res.onding to s.ch lands.ape s.ale dis.urbances. providing improved adaptive capacity through knowledge s.aring. An as.es.ment of s.akeholder knowledge levels. information needs. primary concerns. and s.gges.ed communication s.rategies.were conducted via an online elicitation s.rvey and World s.ience Café works.ops. Knowledge levels. as.es.ed via a s.rvey of local water managers.and experts. were relatively low with approximately half of the res.ondents.reporting little to no knowledge of the effects.of mountain pine beetle on drinking water quality and quantity, thereby indicating limited knowledge exchange between s.ientis.s.and drinking water s.akeholders. Increas.d acces.ibility and dis.emination of res.arch findings.pertinent to the mountain pine beetle epidemic’s.effects.on drinking water quality and quantity is.neces.ary for natural res.urce management. Recommendations.for improved communication among s.ientis.s.and drinking water s.akeholders.in particular and fores. health in general include dis.ers.l of non-academic res.arch s.mmaries. information exchange through exis.ing media and community res.urces. demons.ration projects. and information clearinghous.s.
