The mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)acts in two structurally and functionally distinct protein complexes,mTOR complex 1(mTORC1)and mTOR complex 2(mTORC2).Upon deregulation,activated mTOR signaling is associated with multiple processes involved in tumor growth and *** with mTORC1,much less is known about mTORC2 in cancer,mainly because of the unavailability of a selective ***,existing data suggest that mTORC2 with its two distinct subunits Rictor and mSin1 might play a more important role than assumed so *** is one of the key effectors of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and stimulates cell growth,cell survival,metabolism,and cytoskeletal *** is not only implicated in tumor progression,metastasis,and the tumor microenvironment but also in resistance to ***,the central subunit of mTORC2,was found to be upregulated in different kinds of cancers and is associated with advanced tumor stages and a bad ***,AKT,the main downstream regulator of mTORC2/Rictor,is one of the most highly activated proteins in *** and secondary liver cancer are major problems for current cancer therapy due to the lack of specific medical treatment,emphasizing the need for further therapeutic *** review,therefore,summarizes the role of mTORC2/Rictor in cancer,with special focus on primary liver cancer but also on liver metastases.

background:Vibration controlled transient elastography(VCTE)and controlled attenuation parameter(CAP™)have shown reliable performance predicting fibrosis and steatosis in normal-to overweight patients but have not been validated in severe to morbid *** study aimed at determining the accuracy of VCTE,CAP™and the composite score FibroScan-AST(FAST)in patients with a body mass index(bMI)of≥35 kg/m^(2).Methods:Patients scheduled for bariatric-metabolic surgery underwent preoperative VCTE/CAP™measurement,and intraoperative liver *** feasibility and accuracy of VCTE,CAP™and the composite score FAST were retrospectively analysed to evaluate fibrosis,steatosis and active fibrotic non-alcoholic steatohepatitis[NASH+non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)activity score≥4+fibrosis grade≥2]using per protocol(PP)and intent to diagnose(ITD)***:In total,170 patients(median bMI 44.4 kg/m²)were included in the *** biopsy showed NASH,simple steatosis,and normal livers in 60.6%(n=103),28.8%(n=49),and 10.6%(n=18),*** and CAP™delivered reliable results in 90.6%(n=154/170)and 90.5%(n=134/148).The AUC(PP)of VCTE,CAP™,and FAST were 0.687(≥F2),0.786(≥F3),0.703(≥S2),0.738(S3),and 0.780(active fibrotic NASH).The AUC increased to 0.742(≥F2),0.842(≥F3),0.712(≥S2),0.780(S3),and 0.836(active fibrotic NASH)in patients below the median bMI of 44.4 kg/m².Conclusions:VCTE,CAP™and FAST show acceptable accuracy for the detection of fibrosis,steatosis and NASH in a real-life cohort of patients with *** improves in patients with a bMI<44.4 kg/m^(2).

To stay globally competitive, manufacturing companies are increasingly under pressure to bring new products and applications to market, improve existing products, and discover new technologies to produce them at a lower price. New technological findings can enable companies to overcome these challenges. In practice, technology development associated with a long time horizon is often given a lower priority compared with short-term focused product development thus being stronger restricted by everyday business. More and more companies separate their technology development department from product development to promote technological innovations. Due to this additional interface in the R＆D organization new problems arise, resulting in technologies not being implemented in products. The reasons for these problems amongst others concern wrong timing for the transfer or inadequate definition of responsibilities. In this paper of ongoing research, authors introduce a framework to design the transfer processes between technology development and product development. Although there are a number of options for designing the operative transfer, there is no regulatory framework specifying which configuration options are at this particular interface. The approach is to develop a model, which is able to design different company-specific transfer processes taking into account the object being transferred at this interface. Thus, for different objects to be transferred, different transfer processes are designed. The model＇s aim is to enable responsibility of the R＆D management to design their company-specific transfer processes to enable more technologies being implemented into products, thus giving the whole company the possibility to act more innovatively.

Zeolitites (ZTs) are rocks containing more than 50% of zeolite minerals and are known to be a suitable material for agricultural purposes by improving soil physicochemical properties and nitrogen (N) use efficiency. However, little is known about their effects on soil microbial biomass. This study aimed to evaluate short-term effects of different chabazite-rich ZT (CHAZT) amendments on soil microbial biomass and activity. A silty-clay agricultural soil was amended in three different ways, including the addition of natural (5% and 15%) and NH_4^+-enriched (10%) CHAZT. Soil dissolved organic carbon (C), total dissolved N, NH_4^+, NO_3^-, NO_2^-, microbial biomass C and N, and ergosterol were measured periodically over 16 d in a laboratory incubation. To verify the microbial immobilization of the N derived from NH_4^+-enriched CHAZT, a high15N source was used for enriching the mineral to measure the microbial biomass δ15N signature. An increase in the ergosterol content was observed in the soil amended with 5% natural CHAZT. However, no similar result was observed in the soil amended with 15% natural CHAZT, suggesting that the fungal biomass was favored at a lower CHAZT application rate. In the soil amended with NH+ 4-enriched CHAZT, microbial biomass N was related to NO_3^-production over time and inversely related to NH_4^+, suggesting high nitrification process. Isotopic measurements on microbial biomass confirmed immediate assimilation of N derived from NH_4^+-enriched CHAZT. These results suggested that the NH_4^+-enriched CHAZT used in this study supplied an immediately available N pool to the microbial biomass.

The fluorescence kinetics of 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) dissolved in cyclohexane was investigated as a function of temperature, concentration and 355 nm excitation pulse energy. At concentrations above 2.5 μM and excitation energies above 1 mJ a long-lived, very intense emission, which appears within less than 5 ns and lasts up to 70 ns, is observed. During the first 50 ns the decay does not follow an exponential but rather a linear behaviour. In oxygen saturated solutions the long-lived emission is suppressed and solely short-lived fluorescence with τ 1-state and competes with the formation of DPH-O2 contact charge-transfer complexes and intersystem crossing which both quench the fluorescence. Our investigations show that even the small amount of oxygen dissolved in nitrogen saturated solutions has a distinct influence on the fluorescence kinetics of DPH.
