Sport burnout inventoryDual career form for student-athletes: Assessing validity and reliability in a Finnish sample of adolescent athletes

Background:The pressure of pursuing an athletic career simultaneously with education may set adolescent student-athletes at risk for sport and school *** the 2 life domains of student-athletes are strongly intertwined,so far,there has not been an instrument for investigating sport burnout parallel to school *** aim of the present study was to introduce a sport burnout measure for adolescents in a dual career context and investigate its validity and reliability by using confirmatory factor ***:The participants were 391 student-athletes(51%females)who filled in a questionnaire of sport burnout and background variables in the beginning of upper secondary ***:A 3-factor model or a second-order-factor model described the data better and gave better reliability indices than a 1-factor *** 3 dimensions of sport burnout were shown to be separate,but closely related *** for convergent and discriminant validity was obtained by correlating the 3 sport burnout dimensions with depressive symptoms,self-esteem,and sport task ***:The results suggest that Sport Burnout InventoryDual Career Form(SpBI-DC)is a valid and reliable instrument for investigating sport burnout among adolescent student-athletes.

Effects of food quality on trade-offs among growth, immunity and survival in the greater wax moth Galleria mellonella

The resources available to an individual in any given environment are finite, and variation in life history traits reflect differential allocation of these resources to competing life functions. Nutritional quality of food is of particular importance in these life history decisions. In this study, we tested trade-offs among growth, immunity and survival in 3 groups of greater wax moth （Galleria mellonella） larvae fed on diets of high and average nutritional quality. We found rapid growth and weak immunity （as measured by encapsulation response） in the larvae of the high-energy food group. It took longer to develop on food of average nutritional quality. However, encapsulation response was stronger in this group. The larvae grew longer in the low-energy food group, and had the strongest encapsulation response. We observed the highest survival rates in larvae of the low-energy food group, while the highest mortality rates were observed in the high-energy food group. A significant negative correlation between body mass and the strength of encapsulation response was found only in the high-energy food group revealing significant competition between growth and immunity only at the highest rates of growth. The results of this study help to establish relationships between types of food, its nutritional value and life history traits of G. mellonella larvae.

Verification of RFID System Usability in Silage Bale Life Cycle Management

Digitalization has nowadays raised interest in variable applications of *** of knowledge level,by means of unique identification,automation and control,farmers gain relevant business *** research is focused on the utilization of passive radio frequency identification(RFID)technology in silage bale application,both manual and automated *** arise due to silage conservation,varying environmental and seasonal conditions,different identification environments and RFID operation *** maximum communication signal strength is limited by telecommunication standard regulations(e.g.,ETSI).The applicability of RFID technology with different commercial passive transponders is measured manually in a silage bale of 160 cm in diameter,covering 360 degrees around the *** addition,automated field tests are conducted in a real environment,where the data collection system is appended to a tractor and RFID reader antenna in a *** measurements are conducted as identification distance(meters)and transponder population(number of tags),while automated measurements are based on the number of successfully identified silage *** on the manual measurement results,the most suitable tags for the automated field measurements were chosen,and the applicability to silage bale identification was *** tests showed 100%success,with 151/151 uniquely identified silage *** results prove that passive RFID operates well enough in silage bale identification,further enabling the development of digitalization of silage bale life cycle.
