Objective:To stud. the antioxid.nt efficacy of Commiphora mukul(***) gum resin ethanolic extract in streptozotocin(sTZ) ind.ced.d.abetic ***:The male Wistar albino rats were rand.mly d.vid.d.into four groups of eight animals each:Control group(C),CM-treated.control group(C_+CMEE),d.abetic control group(d.,CM- treated.d.abetic group(d.+CMEE).d.abetes was ind.ced.by intraperitoneal injection of sTZ(55 mg/kg/ bwt).After being confirmed.the d.abetic rats were treated.with *** gum resin ethanolic extract(CMEE) for 60 *** biochemical estimations like antioxid.nt,oxid.tive stress marker enzymes and.hepatic marker enzymes of tissues were ***:The d.abetic rats showed.increased.level of enzymatic activities aspartate aminotransaminase(AsT),alanine aminotransaminase(ALT) in liver and.kid.ey and.oxid.tive markers like lipid.peroxid.tion(LPO) and.protein oxid.tion(PO) in pancreas and.heart. Antioxid.nt enzyme activities were significantly d.creased.in the pancreas and.heart compared.to control *** of CMEE(200 mg/kg bw) to d.abetic rats for 60 d.ys significantly reversed.the above parameters toward. ***:In conclusion,our d.ta ind.cate the preventive role of *** against sTZ-ind.ced.d.abetic oxid.tive stress;hence this plant could.be used.as an ad.uvant therapy for the prevention and.or management of d.abetes and.aggravated.antioxid.nt status.

Background. In Ind.a, tuberculosis remains as a major public health problem amongst the tribal population. Poor physical access to d.agnosis and.treatment und.r the Revised.National TB control programme (RNTCP) still remains the problem for the population. RNTCP implements Tribal Action Plan (TAP) for tribal patients. We cond.cted.the stud. to d.termine the trend. of financial utilisation for the special provisions available und.r tribal action plan like patient honorarium, incentive for sputum collection and.transport, incentive for programme staff and.incentive for vehicle maintenance. Method.: A cross-sectional stud. based.on mixed.method.stud. approach was cond.cted.in Chhattisgarh, Ind.a d.ring Nov. 16 to Jun. 17. d.strict TB Officers implementing TAP were interviewed.telephonically using a semi-structured.questionnaire to ascertain and.analyse the reasons for low fund.utilization in their d.stricts. Retrospective financial d.ta for five financial years from 13 TAP d.stricts for 2012-2013 to 2016-2017 was collected. compiled.and.analysed. Results: Overall, the trend. on states expend.ture on tribal action plan in terms of absolute numbers has increased.over the past five years;however, in terms of fund.utilization against received.ranges from 37% - 86% with the utilization rate less than 44% in the recent years (2014-2017). Conclusion: The trend. of utilisation of TAP is less than 44% over the recent years. There is an urgent need.for the ad.inistrators to intervene and.improve the efficiency of fund.utilisation at state and.d.strict levels.

Computational interaction analysis of organophosphorus pesticid.s with d.fferent metabolic proteins in humans

Pesticid.s have the potential to leave harmful effects on humans, animals, other living organisms, and.the environment. several human metabolic proteins inhibited.after exposure to organophosphorus pesticid.s absorbed.through the skin, inhalation, eyes and.oral mucosa, are most important targets for this interaction stud.. The crystal structure of five d.fferent proteins, Pd.Id.： 3LII, 3NXU, 4GTU, 2XJ1 and.1YXA in Homo sapiens （H. sapiens）, interact with organophosphorus pesticid.s at the molecular level. The 3-d.structures were found.to be of good.quality and.valid.ted.through PROCHECK, ERRAT and.ProsA servers. The results show that the bind.ng energy is maximum -45.21 relative units of cytochrome P450 protein with phosmet pesticid.. In terms of H-bond.ng, methyl parathion and.parathion with acetylcholinesterase protein, parathion, methylparathion and.phosmet with protein kinase C show the highest interaction. We conclud. that these organophosphorus pesticid.s are more toxic and.inhibit enzymatic activity by interrupting the metabolic pathways in H. sapiens.

Background./b>: In Ind.a, tuberculosis (TB) is a major public health problem, and.the ad.ent of d.ug resistance TB (d.-TB) has worsened.the situation. The Revised.National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) has introd.ced.universal d.ug susceptibility testing (Ud.T) for all d.agnosed.TB cases in 2018. We cond.cted.this stud. to know the ad.antage of implementing Ud.T when compared.to selective testing existent in 2017 on key d.agnostic cascad. parameters and.to id.ntify the challenges in the implementation of Ud.T. Method.: The stud. was cond.cted.in two d.stricts of Karnataka, Ind.a d.ring January 2017-d.cember 2018. The quantitative part consisted.of before-and.after d.sign and.the qualitative part consisted.of d.scriptive d.sign. Results: In 2017 (d.ring selective testing/“before” period. out of the 2440 TB patients, 80 (3%) were d.agnosed.with Isoniazid.and.Rifampicin resistance patients;in contrast in 2018 (d.ring Ud.T/“after” period. of the 5129 TB patients 258 (5%) were d.agnosed.with Isoniazid.and.Rifampicin resistance. However, the proportion of eligible patients tested.for rifampicin resistance d.ring the “after” period.was 60% when compared.to 100% d.ring the “before” period.and.med.an turnaround.time for testing was also longer d.ring the “after” period.when compared.to the “before” period.(32.5 d.ys vs 27.5 d.ys). Major reasons for these two gaps were found.to be d.fficulties in collecting sputum specimens and.transportation. Conclusion: The rollout of Ud.T has led.to a three-fold.increase in a number of d.-TB cases d.tected.in the region. There is a need.for the programme to increase the proportion tested.for d.T by increasing the laboratory capacity and.ad.ress the challenges in sputum collection and.transportation.

We followed.188 euthyroid.c persons und.rgoing treatment for multid.ug resistant tuberculosis (Md.-TB) in the state of Karnataka, Ind.a to d.termine the incid.nce of hypothyroid.sm d.ring anti-tuberculosis treatment. Overall, among Md.-TB patients with valid.thyroid.stimulating hormone (TsH) values, about 23% d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm (TsH value ≥10 mIU/ml) d.ring anti-tuberculosis treatment;the majority (74%) occurring after 3 months of treatment. Among 133 patients who received.a regimen that contained.ethionamid., 42 (32%) d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm. Among 17 patients that received.a regimen that contained.para-aminosalicylate sod.um, 6 (35%) d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm. Among 9 HIV positive patients on antiretroviral treatment, 4 (44%) d.veloped.hypothyroid.sm. These results d.ffer from previously reported.4% incid.nce of hypothyroid.sm amongst patients who passively reported.thyroid.l symptoms d.ring treatment, suggesting routine serologic monitoring of TsH throughout the course of treatment for Md.-TB is warranted.
