Effects of Cultivar, Frying Temperature and Slice Thickness on Oil Uptake and Sensory Quality of Potato Crisps Processed from Four Kenyan Potato Cultivars

The effects of potato cultivar, frying temperature and slice thickness on oil uptake and sensory quality of potato crisps were investigated in four Kenyan cultivars. Potato tubers were peeled, washed and cut into slices of thickness 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm. Each size was fried at a constant temperature of 170 ℃ for 3-5 minutes. For frying temperature evaluation, the potatoes for all cultivars were cut into a uniform thickness of 1.5 mm and fried at temperatures of 160, 170 and 180 ℃ for 2-5 minutes. Crisps made from the four cultivars differed significantly （P 〈 0.05） in oil absorbed which ranged from 35.12% in Dutch Robyjn to 36.52% in clone 391,691.96. Tuber dry matter differed significantly （P 〈 0.05） among the cultivars ranging from 20.99% in clone 391691.96 to 25.29% in variety Dutch Robyjn. Tuber dry matter content was found to be negatively correlated to oil content of crisps; oil content increased with decrease in dry matter content. For each cultivar, the oil content of crisps differed significantly （P 〈 0.05） with temperatures and was higher at frying temperatures of 160 ℃ and lowest at 180 ℃, respectively. The oil content was significantly （P 〈 0.05） higher in slices of 1.0 mm thick than in slices of 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm; the amount ofoil absorbed decreased with increase in slice thickness. There was significant correlation （P 〈 0.05, r = -0.834） between oil content as determined in the laboratory and sensory scores. Results showed that high dry matter, slice thickness and temperature of frying resulted in reduced oil absorption by crisps during processing.

The aim of this report was to describe the feasibility, overall survival and quality of life of combining multimodal therapy with a complementary therapy concept called LOTUS Care Cure program. The peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) working group described their observations on the combination of multimodal therapy with a complementary therapy concept based on 132 patients with different cancer entities with suspected PC. PC was not confirmed by laparoscopy in 32.5% of the patients included in the working group of patients with suspected PC. Patient compliance and the feasibility were high. For Ki67, there is a cut-off at 45% with a slower progression at 45%. The higher the Karnofsky index, the more improved the therapy and tolerability, with a cut-off of 80%. Overall, 72.0% of patients died. The median survival time in the overall population was 3.74 years (95% CI, 2.57 to 4.91) with a sharp decline in the first 16 weeks. The quality of life of patients can be improved with the implementation of the complementary LOTUS Care Cure Project. Overall, the therapy of PC requires a multi-professional team of therapists and a multimodal therapy concept. The multimodal concept together with the Lotus Care Cure project shows very good feasibility with high compliance and ultimately leads to better and low-risk patient care.

Searching for the neutrinoless double beta decay(NLDBD)is now regarded as the topmost promising technique to explore the nature of neutrinos after the discovery of neutrino masses in oscillation *** X-III(particle and astrophysical xenon experiment III)will search for the NLDBD of136Xe at the China Jin Ping Underground Laboratory(CJPL).In the first phase of the experiment,a high pressure gas Time Projection Chamber(TPC)will contain 200 kg,90%136Xe enriched gas operated at10 *** pitch micro-pattern gas detector(microbulk micromegas)will be used at both ends of the TPC for the charge readout with a cathode in the *** signals can be used to reconstruct the electron tracks of the NLDBD events and provide good energy and spatial *** detector will be immersed in a large water tank to ensure～5 m of water shielding in all *** second phase,a ton-scale experiment,will consist of five TPCs in the same water tank,with improved energy resolution and better control over backgrounds.

Fungi are eukaryotes that play essential roles in *** fungi,Basidiomycota is one of the major phyla with more than 40,000 described *** review species diversity of Basidiomycota from five groups with different lifestyles or habitats:saprobic in grass/forest litter,wood-decaying,yeast-like,ectomycorrhizal,and plant *** studies of Agaricus,Cantharellus,Ganoderma,Gyroporus,Russula,Tricholoma,and groups of lichenicolous yeast-like fungi,rust fungi,and smut fungi are used to determine trends in discovery of *** each case study,the number of new species published during 2009–2020 is analysed to determine the rate of *** rates differ between taxa and reflect different states of progress for species discovery in different *** results showed that lichenicolous yeast-like taxa had the highest publication rate for new species in the past two decades,and it is likely this trend will continue in the next *** species discovery rate of plant parasitic basidiomycetes was low in the past ten years,and remained constant in the past 50 *** also found that the establishment of comprehensive and robust taxonomic systems based on a joint global initiative by mycologists could promote and standardize the recognition of *** estimated that more than 54,000 species of Basidiomycota will be discovered by 2030,and estimate a total of 1.4–4.2 million species of Basidiomycota *** numbers illustrate a huge gap between the described and yet unknown diversity in Basidiomycota.

We report the Neutrino-less Double Beta Decay（NLDBD） search results from PandaX-Ⅱ dual-phase liquid xenon time projection *** total live time used in this analysis is 403.1 days from June 2016 to *** NLDBD-optimized event selection criteria,we obtain a fiducial mass of 219 kg of natural *** accumulated xenon exposure is 242 kg yr,or equivalently 22.2 kg yr of 136Xe *** the region around 136Xe decay Q-value of 2458 keV,the energy resolution of PandaX-Ⅱ is 4.2%.We find no evidence of NLDBD in PandaX-Ⅱand establish a lower limit for decay half-life of 2.1×1023yr at the 90% confidence level,which corresponds to an effective majorana neutrino mass mββ m a dual-phase xenon experiment.
