Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Magnetic Property of Disodium Biscarbonato cobaltate(Ⅱ) Tetrahydrate, Na_2Co(CO_3)_2·4H_2O

The title compound, Na 2Co(CO 3) 2·4H 2O, was synthesized by dropwise addition of 1.0 mL of 1 mol/L Co(CH 3COO) 2 to 50 mL of aqueous solution containing 7.0 g(66.0 mmol) of Na 2CO 3 and 2.5 g(29.8 mmol) of NaHCO 3 under stirring. A rose colored rhombohedral crystal grew by the slow evaporation of the solution of the title compoud at room temperature. The crystal structure was established on the basis of the single crystal X ray diffraction data. Na 2Co(CO 3) 2·4H 2O crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with a =0.856 6(1) nm, b =0.714 6(1) nm, c = 1 438 7(2) nm, β =97.59(1)° , V =0.873 0(2) nm 3 , D x=2.260 g/cm 3, F (000)=596, M r=296 99, μ (Mo K α)=21.06 cm -1 , Z =4 and the final R(F) =0.032 and wR(F 2) =0.068 on the basis of 947 reflections ( F 2 ≥ 2σ(F 0 2)). The crystal consists of H 2O molecules, Na + ions and 2D 2 ∞[Co(CO 3) 2] 2- layers extending parallel to (001). H 2O molecules and Na + cations are located between the 2D layers. Each Co atom is tetrahedrally coordinated by four O atoms from four CO 2- 3 groups with d (Co\_O)=0.206 5(2) nm, 0.207 6(2) nm and the angle of O\_Co\_O is in the range of 97.7(1)°—128.5(1)°. The CO 2- 3 group bridging two Co atoms via two O atoms deviates from D 3h symmetry with d (C\_O)=0.127 2(3)\_0.129 9(3) nm and the angle of O\_C\_O is in the range of 119.5(2)°\_123.4(2)°. Each Na atom, with two close Na neighbours at 0.338 4(2) nm and 0 346 7(2) nm, respectively, is octahedrally coordinated by six O atoms from four H 2O molecules and two carbonate groups belonging to two layers with d (Na\_O)=0.232 7(2)\_0.241 1(2) nm. Of two crystallographically different H 2O molecules, one forms hydrogen bonds to two CO 3 2- groups of one 2D layer, and the other to those from two different 2D layers. Currently, some commercial software applications support users to work in an integrated environment. However, this is limited to the suite of models provided by the software vendor and consequently it forces all the parties to use the same software. In contrast, the research described in this paper investigates ways of using standard software applications, which may be specialized for different professional domains. These are linked for effective transfer of information and a binding mechanism is provided to support consistency. The proposed solution was implemented using a CAD application and an independent finite element application in order to verify the theoretical aspects of this work.

An 86-year-old male patient was admitted in our cardiology ward with signs of congestive biventricular heart failure. The patient presented with deteriorating dyspnea on mild exertion and at rest the last days, compatible with class NYHA Ⅲ-Ⅳ heart failure, bilateral peripheral oedema, increased NT-proBNP （9198 pg/mL）, mildly elevated Troponin （TnT 64 pg/mL）, interstitial pulmonary oedema and bilateral pleural effusions in chest X ray.

Energy and spectral analysis of confined solar flares from radio and X-ray observations

The energy and spectral shape of radio bursts may help us understand the generation mechanism of solar eruptions,including solar flares,coronal mass ejections,eruptive filaments,and various scales of *** different kinds of flares may have different characteristics of energy and spectral *** this work,we selected 10 mostly confined flare events during October 2014 to investigate their overall spectral behaviour and the energy emitted in microwaves by using radio observations from microwaves to interplanetary radio waves,and X-ray observations of GOES,RHESSI,and Fermi/*** found that:all the confined flare events were associated with a microwave continuum burst extending to frequencies of9.4~15.4 GHz,and the peak frequencies of all confined flare events are higher than 4.995 GHz and lower than or equal to 17 *** median value is around 9 *** microwave burst energy(or nuence)and the peak frequency are found to provide useful criteria to estimate the power of solar *** observations imply that the magnetic field in confined flares tends to be stronger than that in 412 flares studied by Nita et al.(2004).All 10 events studied did not produce detectable hard X-rays with energies above~300 keV indicating the lack of efficient acceleration of electrons to high energies in the confined flares.

Hydrodynamic Instabilities in Rotating Fluids

Rotating flow systems are often used to study stability phenomena and structure developments. The closed spherical gap problem is generalized into an open now system by superimposing a mass flux in meridional direction. The basic solutions at low Reynolds numbers are described by analytical methods. The nonlinear supercritical solutions are simulated numerically and realized in experiments. Novel steady and time-dependent modes of flows are obtained. The extensive results concern the stability behaviour, non-uniqueness of supercritical solutions, symmetry behaviour and transitions between steady and time-dependent solutions. The experimental investigations concern the visualization of the various instabilities and the quatitative description of the flow structures including the laminar-turbulent transition. A comparison between theoretical and experimental results shows good agreement within the limit of rotational symmetric solutions from the theory.

Mechanisms underlying detection of seed dormancy by a scatter-hoarding rodent

The mechanism underlying detection of seed dormancy by scatter-hoarding rodents is unclear,although previous work suggests that the pericarp plays an important role in signaling dormancy *** gray squirrels(Sciurus carolinensis)consume early germinating seeds as they are more likely to perish immediately,whereas dormant seeds tend to be *** examine the mechanisms underlying dormancy detection,we characterized physical and chemical differences between germinating and dormant pericarps of northern red oak(Quercus rubra),American chestnut(Castanea dentata)and the BC3 hybrid of Chinese chestnut and American chestnut(Castanea mollissima×***)using scanning electron microscopy and gas chromatography-mass spec*** found that,as seeds break dormancy,the wax layer on the pericarp degrades and is accompanied by the escape of lower molecular weight kernel compounds or lipid metabolism *** field experiments showed that squirrels were 4-8 times more likely to consume seeds that were altered to remove pericarp wax coating or that were sprayed with seed *** argue that dormancy detection by scatter-hoarding rodents is a complex process involving physical cues such as loss of pericarp wax and chemical cues such as emission of olfactory cues.

Durable, superhydrophobic, antireflection, and low haze glass surfaces using scalable metal dewetting nanostructuring

In this paper we report a multifunctional nanostructured surface on glass that, for the first time, combines a wide range of optical, wetting and durability properties, including low omnidirectional reflectivity, low haze, high transmission, superhydrophobicity, oleophobicity, and high mechanical resistance. Nanostructures have been fabricated on a glass surface by reactive ion etching through a nanomask, which is formed by dewetting ultrathin metal films （〈 10 nm thickness） subjected to rapid thermal annealing （RTA）. The nanostructures strongly reduce the initial surface reflectivity （-4%）, to less than 0.4% in the 390--800 nm wavelength range while keeping the haze at low values （〈 0.9%）. The corresponding water contact angle （0c） is -24.5~, while that on a flat surface is -43.5~. The hydrophilic wetting nanostructure can be changed into a superhydrophobic and oleophobic surface by applying a fluorosilane coating, which achieves contact angles for water and oil of -156.3~ and -116.2~, respectively. The multicomponent composition of the substrate （Coming~ glass） enables ion exchange through the surface, so that the nanopillars＇ mechanical robustness increases, as is demonstrated by the negligible changes in surface morphology and optical performance after 5,000-run wipe test. The geometry of the nanoparticles forming the nanomask depends on the metal material, initial metal thickness and RTA parameters. In particular we show that by simply changing the initial thickness of continuous Cu films we can tailor the metal nanoparticles＇ surface density and size. The developed surface nanostructuring does not require expensive lithography, thus it can be controlled and implemented on an industrial scale, which is crucial for applications.
