Hessian fly(HF),Mayetiola destructor(Say)is an important pest of wheat in North Africa,North America,Southern Europe,Northern Kazakhstan,Northwestern China,and New *** can cause up to 30%yield losses and sometimes can result in complete crop failure if infestation coincides with young stage of the wheat *** to-date have shown the availability of genetic diversity in the wheat genetic resources(landraces,wild relatives,cultivars,etc.)for resistance to Hessian *** 37 resistance genes have been reported from these wheat genetic resources for resistance to Hessian fly,of which,some have been deployed singly or in combination in the breeding programs to develop high yielding varieties with resistance to *** of resistant varieties in different agro-ecologies with other integrated management measures plays key role for the control of *** paper summarizes the importance,life cycle,mechanisms of resistance,gene mining,and wheat breeding efforts for HF resistance.

Ophiolitic peridotites exposed in the Eastern Desert(ED)of Egypt record multiple stages of evolution,including different degrees of partial melting and melt extraction,serpentinization,carbonatization and *** present study deals with metaperidotites at two selected localities in the central and southern ED,namely Wadi el-Nabáand Wadi Ghadir,*** represent residual mantle sections of a Neoproterozoic dismembered ophiolite that tectonically emplaced over a volcano-sedimentary succession that represents island–arc *** studied metaperidotites are serpentinized,with the development of talc-carbonate and quartz-carbonate rocks,especially along shear and fault *** relics of primary minerals(olivine,orthopyroxene and Cr-spinel)are preserved in a few samples of partiallyserpentinized *** of the Cr-spinel crystals have fresh cores followed by outer zones of ferritchromite and Crmagnetite,which indicates that melt extraction from the mantle protolith took place under oxidizing *** protoliths of the studied metaperidotites were dominated by harzburgites,which is supported by the abundance of mesh and bastite textures in addition to some evidence from mineral and whole-rock chemical *** high Cr#(0.62–0.69;Av.0.66)and low TiO_(2)(els,the higher Fo(89–92;Av.91)and NiO(0.24–0.54 wt%,Av.0.40)contents of the primary olivine relics,together with the high Mg#(0.91–0.93;Av.91)and low CaO,Al2 O3 and TiO_(2)of the orthopyroxene relics,are all comparable with depleted to highly depleted forearc harzburgite from a suprasubduction zone *** investigated peridotites have suffered subsequent phases of metasomatism,from oceanfloor hydrothermal alteration(serpentinization)to magmatic hydrothermal *** enrichment of the studied samples in light rare earth elements(LREEs)relative to the heavy ones(HREEs)is attributed to most probably be due to the contamination

Selecting the most relevant subset of features from a dataset is a vital step in data mining and machine *** feature in a dataset has 2n possible subsets,making it challenging to select the optimum collection of features using typical *** a result,a new metaheuristicsbased feature selection method based on the dipper-throated and grey-wolf optimization(DTO-GW)algorithms has been developed in this *** can result when the selection of features is subject to metaheuristics,which can lead to a wide range of ***,we adopted hybrid optimization in our method of optimizing,which allowed us to better balance exploration and harvesting chores more *** propose utilizing the binary DTO-GW search approach we previously devised for selecting the optimal subset of *** the proposed method,the number of features selected is minimized,while classification accuracy is *** test the proposed method’s performance against eleven other state-of-theart approaches,eight datasets from the UCI repository were used,such as binary grey wolf search(bGWO),binary hybrid grey wolf,and particle swarm optimization(bGWO-PSO),bPSO,binary stochastic fractal search(bSFS),binary whale optimization algorithm(bWOA),binary modified grey wolf optimization(bMGWO),binary multiverse optimization(bMVO),binary bowerbird optimization(bSBO),binary hysteresis optimization(bHy),and binary hysteresis optimization(bHWO).The suggested method is superior 4532 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 and successful in handling the problem of feature selection,according to the results of the experiments.

Existing pre-trained models like Distil HuBERT excel at uncovering hidden patterns and facilitating accurate recognition across diverse data types, such as audio and visual information. We harnessed this capability to develop a deep learning model that utilizes Distil HuBERT for jointly learning these combined features in speech emotion recognition (SER). Our experiments highlight its distinct advantages: it significantly outperforms Wav2vec 2.0 in both offline and real-time accuracy on RAVDESS and BAVED datasets. Although slightly trailing HuBERT’s offline accuracy, Distil HuBERT shines with comparable performance at a fraction of the model size, making it an ideal choice for resource-constrained environments like mobile devices. This smaller size does come with a slight trade-off: Distil HuBERT achieved notable accuracy in offline evaluation, with 96.33% on the BAVED database and 87.01% on the RAVDESS database. In real-time evaluation, the accuracy decreased to 79.3% on the BAVED database and 77.87% on the RAVDESS database. This decrease is likely a result of the challenges associated with real-time processing, including latency and noise, but still demonstrates strong performance in practical scenarios. Therefore, Distil HuBERT emerges as a compelling choice for SER, especially when prioritizing accuracy over real-time processing. Its compact size further enhances its potential for resource-limited settings, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of applications.

This work aims at studying the effect of hygrothermal and UV cyclic aging on the tensile properties and esthetic characteristics of non-woven *** composite materials were thermo-compressed from non-woven mats made up of PP and flax or kenaf *** works included evaluating the change in color appearance and analyzing the variations in tensile properties and damage mechanisms,depending on the aging *** presence of the UV protection film on the composite surface showed its effectiveness against *** visual observations and measurement of colorimetric parameters,it has been proved effective in the reduction of the bleaching and yellowing of the *** regards the tensile tests,the UV protection film enabled to stabilize the Young’s modulus after 1-week aging for Kenaf/PP and after 3-weeks for Flax/*** 4-weeks aging,it halved the number of acoustic emission events related to interfacial decohesion and fiber slippage/pull out for Flax/PP and Kenaf/PP composites.

Soil organic matter (SOM) is a fundamental soil constituent. The estimation of this parameter in the laboratory using the classical method is complex time-consuming and requires the use of chemical re-agents. The objectives of this study were to assess the accuracy of two laboratory measurement setups of the VIS-NIR spectroscopy in estimating SOM content and determine the important spectral bands in the SOM estimation model. A total of 115 soil samples were collected from the non-root zone (0-20 cm) of soil in the study area of the Triffa Plain and then analysed for SOM in the laboratory by the Walkley-Black method. The reflectance spectra of soil samples were measured by two protocols, Contact Probe (CP) and Pistol Grip (PG)) of the ASD spectroradiometer (350-2500 nm) in the laboratory. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was used to develop the prediction models. The results of coefficient of determination (R2) and the root mean square error (RMSE) showed that the pistol grip offers reasonable accuracy with an R2=0.93 and RMSE=0.13 compared to the contact probe protocol with an R2=0.85 and RMSE = 0.19. The near-Infrared range were more accurate than those in the visible range for pre-dicting SOM using the both setups (CP and PG). The significant wavelengths contributing to the pre-diction of SOM for (PG) setup were at:424, 597, 1432, 1484, 1830,1920, 2200, 2357 and 2430 nm, while were at 433, 587, 1380, 1431, 1929, 2200 and 2345 nm for (CP) setup.
