Highly active and low-cost catalysts for electrochemical reactions such as the hydrogen evolution reaction （HER） are crucial for the development of efficient energy conversion and storage technologies. Theoretical simulations have been instrumental in revealing the correlations between the electronic structure of materials and their catalytic activity, and guide the prediction and development of improved catalysts. However, difficulties in accurately engineering the desired atomic sites lead to challenges in making direct comparisons between experi- mental and theoretical results. In MoS2, the Mo-edge has been demonstrated to be active for HER whereas the S-edge is inert. Using a computational descriptor- based approach, we predict that by incorporating transition metal atoms （Fe, Co, Ni, or Cu） the S-edge site should also become HER active. Vertically standing, edge-terminated MoS2 nanofilms provide a well-defined model system for verifying these predictions. The transition metal doped MoS2 nanofilms show an increase in exchange current densities by at least two-fold, in agreement with the theoretical calculations. This work opens up further opportunities for improving electrochemical catalysts by incorporating promoters into particular atomic sites, and for using well-defined systems in order to understand the origin of the promotion effects.

OBJECTIVE:To monitor current production in Qi-deficient liver cells,and to study how cellular proton leakage might affect electric current ***:Cells were placed in an microbial fuel cells(MFC)anode and the electric current was ***-affecting chemicals,2,4-dinitrophenol(DNP)and resveratrol(RVT),were used to induce proton leakage in cells and their effect on current production ***-7 breast cancer cells exhibited higher proton leakage relative tonormal liver cells.A mouse model for Qi-deficiency was prepared according to the Methodology of Animal Experiment in Chinese *** Qi-tonics Buzhongyiqi Tang(BZYQT),which is used to treat the Qi-deficiency condition,was applied to Qi-deficient liver cells to examine how current production was ***:Adding either DNP or RVT to normal liver cells increased current ***-7 cells that possessed high proton leakage were also found to produce higher currents than normal liver *** current production,lower cellular glucose content,and lower adenosine triphosphate(ATP)production rate were found in Qi-deficient liver cells,in which the use of DNP or RVT further increased current *** use of BZYQT to treat Qi-deficient liver cells decreased current production,counteracted the action of DNP,and also improved cellular glucose ***:High electric current production was found in liver cells with high cellular proton *** current responses to both mitochondria-affecting chemicals,DNP and RVT,appeared to indicate proper mitochondrial *** high proton leakage detected in Qi-deficient liver cells might have caused high energy losses,which served to explain the observed lower cellular glucose content and ATP production rate than in normal *** results might also explain the exhibited syndromes of low energy and fatigue in Qi-deficient *** leakage,induced by DNP or the Qi-deficient condition,was possibly caused

We characterized the outcome of strabismus in 54 pediatric patients with cataracts. Patients were less than 18 years of age at the time of undergoing cataract extraction with or without intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Of 54 patients, 24 (44%) were male;30 (56%) were female. 36 (67%) had congenital cataract;18 (33%) had acquired cataract. Average age at cataract surgery was 40.39 months (SD: 38.82;range: 2-156). All patients had strabismus at the time of diagnosis of the cataracts. One year after cataract surgery, 39 (72%) patients had resolution or improvement of strabismus without surgery at an average of 3.8 months (SD: 3.6;range 0 to 12 months);15 (28%) of patients required strabismus surgery. No association was found between resolution of strabismus, gender, the presence of congenital or acquired cataract, unilateral or bilateral cataract, duration of cataract, and the presence of IOL or aphakia. Strabismus was more likely to resolve without surgical intervention if the child was older at the time of diagnosis of cataract. The predicted value of resolution at 50 months of age is 70% and increases with age.

Steroid hormones, alkylphenol ethoxylates（APEOs） and phthalic acid esters（PAEs） are emerging endocrine disrupting chemicals（EDCs） that can interfere with the endocrine function in organisms at low concentrations. The occurrence, distribution behavior, removal rate and the fate of 31 target EDCs in sewage treatment plants, which consist of various treatment facilities and receiving water in Hong kong, were investigated. Estrone,nonylphenol-di-ethoxylate and diethyl phthalate were found to be dominant in each group of influent samples with concentrations ranging from 11–33, 747–3945 and 445–4635 ng/L,respectively. Conversely, progesterone, nonylphenol-mono-ethoxylate and bis（2-ethylhexyl）phthalate were the most abundant in dewatered sludge, with concentrations ranging from 0.9–237, 75–19,743 and 4310–37,016 ng/g（dry weight）. The removal rates of primary sedimentation and disinfection approaches were lower than 30% for most of the chemicals,while those of activated sludge and reverse osmosis were greater than 80% for more than two-thirds of the compounds, noticeably decreasing the estrogenic risk of sewage discharged into the environment. Steroid hormones were removed via biological degradation, while some APEOs and PAEs adsorbed to the sludge. Victoria Harbor poses a low to medium estrogenic risk mainly contributed by estrone and estradiol and deserves attention.

We report our experience in the management of a relapsed ovarian cancer patient with somatic RAD51C mutation,treated with olaparib *** patient was diagnosed with stage 4 high-grade serous ovarian carcinoma and was treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy,cytoreductive surgery,and postoperative *** a second cancer recurrence,she underwent FoundationOne CDx testing following disease progression on multiple lines of *** on the FoundationOne CDx results,olaparib monotherapy was *** 13 months of therapy,all lesions responded to the treatment,and she achieved complete response as demonstrated by normalization of the levels of CA125 and positron emission tomography-computed tomography(PET-CT).We plan to continue olaparib monotherapy until disease progression.
