Recombinant streptokinase vs hydrocortisone suppositories in acute hemorrhoids:A randomized controlled trial

AIm: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant streptokinase(rsK) vs hydrocortisone acetate-based suppositories in acute hemorrhoidal ***: A multicenter(11 sites), randomized(1:1:1), open, controlled trial with parallel groups was performed. All participating patients gave their written,informed consent. After inclusion, patients with acute symptoms of hemorrhoids were centrally randomized to receive, as outpatients, by the rectal route, suppositories of rsK 200000 IU of one unit every 8 h(first 3 units)and afterwards every 12 h until 8 administrations were completed(schedule A), one unit every 8 h until 6 units were completed(schedule B), or 25 mg hydrocortisone acetate once every 8 h up to a maximum of 24 administrations. Evaluations were performed at 3, 5,and 10 d post-inclusion. The main end-point was the 5thday response(disappearance of pain and bleeding, and≥ 70% reduction of the lesion size). Time to response and need for thrombectomy were secondary efficacy variables. Adverse events were also ***: Groups were homogeneous with regards to demographic and baseline characteristics. Fifth day complete response rates were 156/170(91.8%; 95%CI:87.3-96.2), 155/170(91.2%; 95%CI: 86.6%-95.7%),and 46/170(27.1%; 95%CI: 20.1%-34.0%) with rsK(schedule A and B) and hydrocortisone acetate suppositories, respectively. AIm: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant streptokinase(rsK) and phenylephrine-based suppositories in acute hemorrhoidal ***: A multicenter(14 sites), randomized(1:1), open, parallel groups, active controlled trial was done. After inclusion, subjects with acute symptoms of hemorrhoids, who gave their written, informed consent to participate, were centrally randomized to receive, as outpatients, rsK(200000 IU) or 0.25% phenylephrine suppositories, which had different organoleptic characteristics. Treatment was administered by the rectal route, one unit every 6 h during 48 h for rsK, and up to a maximum of 5 d(20 suppositories) for phenylephrine. Evaluations were performed at 3, 5 and 10 d postinclusion. The main end-point was the 5th-day complete clinical response(disappearance of pain and edema, and ≥ 70% reduction of the lesion size). Time to response and need for thrombectomy were secondary efficacy variables. Adverse events were evaluated too. REsULTs: 5thday complete response rates were 83/110(75.5%) and 36/110(32.7%) with rsK and phenylephrine suppositories, respectively. This 42.7% difference(95%CI: 30.5-54.2) was highly significant(P s detected since the early 3rdday evaluation(37.3% vs 6.4% for the rsK and active control groups, respectively; P s kept even at the late 10thday assessment(83.6% vs 58.2% for rsK and phenylephrine, respectively; P me for complete response was significantly shorter(P = 0.031; log-rank test) in the rsK group(median: 4.9 d; 95%CI: 4.8-5.0) with respect to the active control(median: 9.8 d; 95%CI: 9.8-10.0). Thrombectomy was necessary in 1/59 and 8/57 patients with baseline thrombosis in the rsK and phenylephrine groups, respectively(P = 0.016). There were no adverse events attributable to the experimental treatment. Impact of the photosensitizers hematoporphyrin coated gold nanoparticles on biomphalaria alexandrina snails

The present study was done using two concentrations of the photosensitizer Hematoporphyrin coated Gold Nanoparticles (HpdGNP3) (5x10–6 , 5x10–5 mole/dicemeter–3), to evaluate their efficacy on survival rate, egg-laying capacity of Biomphalaria alexandrina snails and on histological deteriorations in their hermaphrodite gland. B. alexandrina snails were incubated for 12 hours at each tested concentration in the dark, thereafter they were exposed to direct sunlight (336.2 W/m2) for either 2 or 4 hours followed by 24 hours of recovery. Control snails were treated with these concentrations without exposure to light irradiance. Another experiment was carried out simultaneously and the snails were left for 4 weeks of recovery to evaluate their egg-laying capacity (mx). The results indicate that 5x10–5 mdm–3 (HpdGNPs) with 4 hours of exposure sunlight suppressed the survival rate of B. alexandrina snails by 50%. meanwhile, control snails incubated with 5x10–5 mdm–3 HpdGNPs were not affected and still alive (100%). For snail’s fecundity (mx), treated snails laid low number of eggs throughout the recov-ery period (4 weeks), in comparison with that of control ones. The highest value of mx for snails treated with 5x10–5 mdm–3 Hpd coated GNPs was recorded at the 3rd week of recovery period, being 6.7 eggs/snail, compared to 37.6 eggs/control snail. This has a negative reflect on the reproductive rate (Ro) of treated snails as it was reduced under these conditions by 76.6% and 86.1%, *** tests re-vealed injuries in spermatocytes, oocytes, several degenerations of *** hermaphrodite gland then evacuations in many gonad’s cells which severely suppressed their capacity for egg-laying. The feral or volunteer cotton(VC)plants when reach the pinhead squaring phase(5–6 leaf stage)can act as hosts for the boll weevil(Anthonomus grandis L.)*** Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Program(TBWEP)employs people to locate and eliminate VC plants growing by the side of roads or fields with rotation crops but the ones growing in the middle of fields remain *** this paper,we demonstrate the application of computer vision(CV)algorithm based on You Only Look Once version 5(YOLOv5)for detecting VC plants growing in the middle of corn fields at three different growth stages(V3,V6 and VT)using unmanned aircraft systems(UAs)remote sensing *** the four variants of YOLOv5(s,m,l,and x)were used and their performances were compared based on classification accuracy,mean average precision(mAP)and *** was found that YOLOv5s could detect VC plants with maximum classification accuracy of 98%and mAP of 96.3%at V6 stage of corn while YOLOv5s and YOLOv5m resulted in the lowest classification accuracy of 85%and YOLOv5m and YOLOv5l had the least mAP of 86.5%at VT stage on images of size 416×416 *** developed CV algorithm has the potential to effectively detect and locate VC plants growing in the middle of corn fields as well as expedite the management aspects of TBWEP.

Time Dependent Pressure Gradient Effect on Unsteady mHD Couette Flow and Heat Transfer of a Casson Fluid

The unsteady magnetohydrodynamic flow of an electrically conducting viscous incompressible non-Newto- nian Casson fluid bounded by two parallel non-conducting porous plates has been studied with heat transfer considering the Hall effect. The fluid is acted upon by a uniform and exponential decaying pressure gradient. An external uniform magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the plates and the fluid motion is subjected to a uniform suction and injection. The lower plate is stationary and the upper plate is suddenly set into mo- tion and simultaneously suddenly isothermally heated to a temperature other than the lower plate temperature. Numerical solutions are obtained for the governing momentum and energy equations taking the Joule and viscous dissipations into consideration. The effect of unsteady pressure gradient, the Hall term, the parameter describing the non-Newtonian behavior on both the velocities and temperature distributions have been stud- ied.

Numerical solution of mHD Boundary Layer Flow of Non-Newtonian Casson Fluid on a moving Wedge with Heat and mass Transfer and Induced magnetic Field

The paper investigates the numerical solution of the magnetohydrodynamics (mHD) boundary layer flow of non-Newtonian Casson fluid on a moving wedge with heat and mass transfer. The effects of thermal diffusion and diffusion thermo with induced magnetic field are taken in consideration. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into nonlinear ordinary differential equations by applying the similarity transformation and solved numerically by using finite difference method (FDm). The effects of various governing parameters, on the velocity, temperature and concentration are displayed through graphs and discussed numerically. In order to verify the accuracy of the present results, we have compared these results with the analytical solutions by using the differential transform method (DTm). It is observed that this approximate numerical solution is in good agreement with the analytical solution. Furthermore, comparisons of the present results with previously published work show that the present results have high accuracy.

不同施肥处理对杂交结缕草草坪盖度及成坪时间的影响

Objective: Cyclo-oxygenase-2 seems to be involved at various steps in the processes of tumor progression. The abstract Objective of this study was to examine the relationship between cyclo- oxygenase- 2 expression and tumor proliferation, apoptosis and angiogenesis in patients with advanced stage high- grade ovarian carcinoma. study design: specimens from 118 patients with high- grade and advanced stage (III, IV) serous ovarian carcinoma were evaluated by immunohistochemistry for cyclo- oxygenase- 2, Ki- 67, vascular endothelial growth factor, and bcl- 2 expression. Tumor microvessel density was assessed with CD34 immunostaining. We investigated the relationships between cyclo- oxygenase- 2 expression and clinicopathologic characteristics, tumor angiogenesis (tumor microvessel density and vascular endothelial growth factor expression), and tumor proliferation and apoptosis. The effect of cyclo- oxygenase- 2 expression on patient survival was determined. Results: There was a significant positive correlation between cyclo- oxygenase- 2 expression in tumor cells and markers of tumor proliferation and angiogenesis.
