Biological Active Components of Selected Medical Fungi

According to official data, about 2000 mushrooms belong to the category of medical mushrooms, while over 600 have already confirmed medical properties. The aim and task of this work were to collect, analyze and process scientific and expert data of biologically active components of selected Basidiomycetes fungi: Letinula edodes, Ganoderma Lucidum, Grifola frondosa, Trametes versicolor and Inonotus obliquus. Areas of fungi therapy and the search for new immunomodulatory agents are far from being restricted to these species alone, however, these five may serve as typical representatives of widespread medicinal fungi used in both traditional medicine and modern biomedical research. Their biologically active components have different pharmacological effects, and beta-glucan polysaccharides, which are recognized as immunomodulators, are of particular importance. Many of the fungal beta-glucans tested have switched to pharmaceuticals such as Lentinan, Sonifilan, Krestin and GanoPoly, which speaks to their pharmacological and research potential. Citing the results of scientific advances in the last two decades, the results of preclinical tests and the results of clinical studies can confirm that supplementation with medical fungi can increase treatment success or mitigate the negative side effects of different therapies. A long-term weakened immune system is a risk factor for malignancies, so it can be concluded that disease prevention is beneficial for each individual and deserves the same attention paid to treating the disease.

Microbiological Contamination of Fresh Chicken Meat in the Retail Stores

The aim of this study was to assess the hygienic properties of swabs taken from the arm and coat of workers, work surfaces, refrigerated display cases, trays and packaging materials. As well as the safe properties of samples of fresh chicken meat (wing, drumstick, chest) and chicken internal organs (heart and liver) from two butcheries. One of the goals was to determine whether education on hygienic conditions was carried out, influenced the hygienic condition of swabs and safety samples of fresh chicken meat offal. The results of the analysis showed that on the first day of sampling, the largest number of aerobic mesophilic bacteria were found in the swabs of the arm (butcher A-8.15 × 102 CFU/ml), butcher (B-17.88 × 102 CFU/ml) and the smallest in the packaging material (0.03 × 102 CFU/ml). Influence of Fluoride Content of Artificial Saliva on Metal Release from 17-4 PH Stainless Steel Foam for Dental Implant Applications

Highly porous 17-4 PH stainless steel foam for implant applications was produced by space holder technique. Metal release and weight loss from 17-4 PH stainless steel foams were investigated in fluoride added artificial saliva environment by static immersion test. An inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer was employed to measure the concentrations of various metal ions. Effects of fluoride content of artificial saliva on metal release and weight loss from the steel foams were investigated. Effects of immersion time, pH value and process parameters on the weight loss and metal release were determined. Pore morphology, pore size and mechanical properties of the 17-4 PH stainless steel foams were also characterized.

We read with great interest the article by Tang et al published in issue 4 of World Journal of Gastroenterology *** results of their study indicate that percutaneous catheter drainage in combination with choledochoscope-guided debridement is a simple,safe and reliable treatment procedure for peripancreatic infections secondary to severe acute ***,there are some points that need to be addressed,including data about the patients in the study and their clinical characteristics,data about infection and superinfection during the treatment and type of treatment of patients with acute necrotizing pancreatitis.

The genesis of the slab window-related Arzular low-sulfidation epithermal gold mineralization(eastern Pontides,NE Turkey)

The Arzular mineralization is one of the best examples of epithermal gold deposits in the eastern Pontides orogenic belt. The mineralization is hosted by the subduction-related basaltic andesites and is mainly controlled by E W and NE SW trending fracture zones. The main ore minerals are galena. sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, tetrahedrite and gold. Homogenization temperatures of fluid inclu- sions are between 130 and 295 C for quartz and between 90 and 133 C for sphalerite. Sulphur isotope values obtained fiom pyrite, galena and sphalerite vary between 1.2‰ and 3‰ indicating that sulphur belongs to magmatic origin and was derived from the Lutetian non-adakitic granitic intrusions in the region. Oxygen isotope values are between 15.0‰, and 16.7‰ and hydrogen isotope values are between -87‰ and 91‰ The sulphur isotope thermometer yielded temperatures in the range of 244-291 C for the ore formation. Our results support the hypothesis that the Arzular mineralization is a low-sulfidation epithermal gold deposit associated with non-adakitic subduction- related granitic magmas that were generated by slab window-related processes in a south-dipping subduction zone during the Lutetian.
