Neuromuscular,biomechanical,and energetic adjustments following repeated bouts of downhill running

Purpose This study used downhill running as a model to investigate the repeated bout effect(RBE)on neuromuscular performance,running biomechanics,and metabolic cost of *** ten healthy recreational male runners performed two 30-min bouts of downhill running(DR1 and DR2)at a-20%slope and 2.8 m/s 3 weeks *** fatigue,level running biomechanics during slow and fast running,and running economy parameters were recorded immediately before and after the downhill bouts,and at 24 h,48 h,72 h,96 h,and 168 h thereafter(i.e.,follow-up days).Results An RBE was confirmed by attenuated muscle soreness and serum creatine kinase rise after DR2 compared to *** RBE was also observed in maximum voluntary contraction(MVC)force loss and voluntary activation where DR2 resulted in attenuated MVC force loss and voluntary activation immediately after the run and during follow-up *** downhill running protocol significantly influenced level running biomechanics;an RBE was observed in which center of mass excursion and,therefore,lower-extremity compliance were greater during follow-up days after DR1 compared to *** observed changes in level running biomechanics did not influence the energy cost of *** This study demonstrated evidence of adaptation in neural drive as well as biomechanical changes with the RBE after *** higher neural drive resulted in attenuated MVC force loss after the second *** can be concluded that the RBE after downhill running manifests as changes to global and central fatigue parameters and running biomechanics without substantially altering the energy cost of running.

Background: In this prospective case series, endoscopic management of pancreatic pseudocysts and Abscesses was investigated following an EUS-guided 1- step procedure for initial transmural access. Methods: Endoscopic drainage of pancreatic pseudocysts and Abscesses was performed in 35 patients (mean age, 51 years; range, 21- 81 years) by using interventional echoendoscopes (FG38UX and EG3830UT; Pentax-Hitachi, Lü bbecke, germany). Interventions were performed by using a 1- step device consisting of a needle-wire suitable for cutting current, a 5.5F dilator, and an 8.5F plastic endoprosthesis (Giovannini Needle Wire Oasis, Cook Endoscopy,Winston-Salem, NC). Results: Endoscopic stent placement was successful in 33 of 35 patients (94% ), whereas repeated needle passages were unsuccessful in 2 cases (pancreatic pseudocystwall, 7 mm). No procedure-related complications, such as bleeding, perforation, or pneumoperitoneum, were observed. All subsequent complications, such as ineffective drainage (9% ), stent occlusion (12% ), or cyst infection (12% ), were managed endoscopically. Fourteen patients (43% ) demonstrated sustained clinical improvement and cyst resolutio upon placement of the initial 8.5F transmural drain. ten patients (30% ) did not reveal a 50% reduction in cyst size on day 3, but cyst resolution was achieved by additional endoscopic cyst irrigation. Nine patients (27% ) with primary or secondary cyst infection underwent endoscopic balloon dilation and prolonged endoscopic drainage procedures to achieve cyst resolution. The overall resolution rate was 88% , with a recurrence rate of 12% , based on a mean follow-up period of 24 months. Conclusion: This 1- step EUS-guided technique with a needle-wire device provides safe transmural access and allows subsequent effective endoscopic management of pancreatic pseudocysts and Abscesses.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.
