OBJECTIVE:To examine whether specific stimulation of Shenshu(BL23)affects sympathetic nervous activity(SNA)-associated plasma renin concentration(PRC).METHODS:Eight healthy volunteers participated in three pattern conditions in random order:control(Cont),stimulation of Shenshu(BL23),and stimulation of sham point(Sham).All participants were initially in the supine position for>60 min,and then remained in the standing position during the experimental procedure to increase *** electrocardiogram was used to calculate low frequency/high frequency(LF/HF)ratio;blood was collected to analyze ***:The LF/HF ratio was significantly increased in the standing position when compared with the supine position(P<0.01).There was no difference in LF/HF ratio during or after stimulation of Shenshu(BL23)in the standing position when compared with before the stimulation in the supine position;however,the LF/HF ratio was significantly increased in Cont and Sham conditions(P<0.01).There was no difference in PRC after stimulation of Shenshu(BL23)in the standing position when compared with before the stimulation in the supine position;however,there was a significant increase in PRC in the Cont and Sham conditions(Cont P<0.05,Sham P<0.01).CONCLUSION:Our results demonstrated that specific acupuncture stimulation of Shenshu(BL23)in the standing position decreased SNA-associated PRC,which was not observed during acupuncture stimulation of the sham point.

Fasting biochemical hypoglycemia and related-factors in nondiabetic population: Kanagawa Investigation of Total Check-up Data from National Database-8

Magnetic relaxation behavior of a spatially closed dysprosium(Ⅲ) phthalocyaninato double-decker complex

The SMM properties of the spatially closed Dy（Ⅲ） double-decker Pc complex Dy（obPc）2 （1）, which is equivalent to a pseudo dinuclear complex, are reported. Complex 1 crystallized with ethanol in the crystal lattice in the monoclinic space group P22/n and was isomorphous with Tb（obPc）2 （3）, which is arranged in a dimer structure along the b axis. The intermetallic Dy-Dy distance was determined to be 0.756 nm. ZMT versus T plots for 1 decreased with a decrease in T, which suggests the existence of an antiferromagnetic （AF） interaction between the Dy3＋ ions. The M-H curve for 1 at 1.8 K showed magnetic hysteresis. In ac susceptibility measurements on a powder sample of 1, which were dependent on the applied ac field, indicating that 1 is an single molecule magnet （SMM）, a maximum appeared at 22 K at an ac frequency 09 of 1488 Hz. The shape of the peaks dras- tically changed, and the peaks did not shift when an Hd~ large enough to suppress the quantum tunneling of the magnetization （QTM） was applied. The energy barrier （A/hc） was estimated to be 44 cm-1 with a pre-exponential factor （r0） of 1.6 × 10-5 s from an Arrhenius plot. Our results suggest that the SMM/magnetic properties of 1 significantly change in a dc magnetic field. These relaxation mechanisms are related to the energy gap of the ground state and to QTM.

The Cross Sectional Study on the Association between Sexual Awareness and Cognitive Social Capital among High School Students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Purpose: We aimed to reveal the association between cognitive social capital and sexual awareness among high school students in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where adolescent premarital sex is considered to be wide-spreading as consequence of socioeconomic changes, in comparison to our previous study in Hanoi, 2012. Methods: We conducted a questionnaire-based survey and a cross sectional study in late 2014, with 2051 eleventh graders at three high schools in Ho Chi Minh City. Complete data was received from 1935 respondents (94.3%). We assessed basic attributes, sexual knowledge, sexual awareness, sexual experience of peers, cognitive social capital such as a sense of community belonging, and Rosenberg Self-Esteem score. After the independent t-test and multiple logistic regression analyses on sexual awareness were performed assigning trivalent Rosenberg Self-Esteem score, sexual knowledge, and sexual experience of peers as independent variables (model 1), followed by analysis adjusted for cognitive social capital (model 2). This study was approved by Japanese Red Cross Akita College of Nursing (No. 24-003). Results: Of 1935 respondents, 99.9% were 16 or 17 years old and mostly from nuclear families (71.1%). Of all participants, 45.8% in males and 49.4% in females correctly answered on sexual knowledge, 47.6% of males and 28.3% of females accepted premarital sex, 60.0% of male and 65.0% of females knew peers with sexual intercourse experience, and 78.1% of males and 79.1% of females agreed with a sense of community belonging. When multiple logistic regression analyses performed, in model 1, sexual awareness was significantly associated with Rosenberg Self-Esteem score in female. In model 2, above association disappeared but significant association was found between sexual awareness and cognitive social capital in both sexes OR (95% CI), male 1.39 (1.05 - 1.84), female 1.99 (1.49 - 2.65). Response of Rice to Insect Elicitors and the Role of OsJAR1 in Wound and Herbivory-Induced JA-lle Accumulation

Plants produce jasmonic acid （JA） and its amino acid conjugate, jasmonoyI-L-isoleucine （JA-Ile） as major defense signals in response to wounding and herbivory. In rice （Oryza sativa）, JA and JA-Ile rapidly increased after mechanical damage, and this increase was further amplified when the wounds were treated with oral secretions from generalist herbivore larvae, lawn armyworms （Spodoptera mauritia）, revealing for the first time active perception mechanisms of herbivore-associated elicitor（s） in rice. In the rice genome, two OsJAR genes can conjugate JA and lie and form JA-Ile in vitro; however, their function in herbivory- induced accumulation of JA-Ile has not been investigated. By functional characterization of TOS17 retrotransposon-tagged Osjarl plants and their response to simulated herbivory, we show that OsJAR1 is essential for JA-Ile production in herbivore-attacked, field-grown plants. In addition, OsJAR1 was required for normal seed development in rice under field conditions. Our results suggest that OsJAR1 possesses at least two major functions in rice defense and development that cannot be complemented by the additional OsJAR2 gene function, although this gene previously showed overlapping enzyme activity in vitro.

Strigolactones and the Regulation of Pea Symbioses in Response to Nitrate and Phosphate Deficiency

New roles for the recently identified group of plant hormones, the strigolactones, are currently under active investigation. One of their key roles is to regulate plant symbioses. These compounds act as a rhizosphere signal in arbuscular mycorrhizal symbioses and as a positive regulator of nodulation in legumes. The phosphorous and nitrogen status of the soil has emerged as a powerful regulator of strigolactone production. However, until now, the potential role of strigolactones in regulating mycorrhizal development and nodulation in response to nutrient deficiency has not been proven. In this paper, the role of strigolactone synthesis and response in regulating these symbioses is examined in pea （Pisum sativum L.）. Pea is well suited to this study, since there is a range of well-characterized strigolactone bio- synthesis and response mutants that is unique amongst legumes. Evidence is provided for a novel endogenous role for strigolactone response within the root during mycorrhizal development, in addition to the action of strigolactones on the fungal partner. The strigolactone response pathway that regulates mycorrhizal development also appears to dif- fer somewhat from the response pathway that regulates nodulation. Finally, studies with strigolactone-deficient pea mutants indicate that, despite strong regulation of strigolactone production by both nitrogen and phosphate, strigolac- tones are not required to regulate these symbioses in response to nutrient deficiency.

Esophagotracheal fistula caused by gastroesophageal reflux 9 years after esophagectomy

Fistula between digestive tract and airway is one of the complications after esophagectomy with lymph node dissection. A case of esophagotracheal fistula secondary to esophagitis 9 years after esophagectomy and gastric pull-up for treatment of esophageal carcinoma is described. It was successfully treated with transposition of a pedicled pectoralis major muscle flap.

Colon perforation due to antigenemia-negative cytomegalovirus gastroenteritis after liver transplantation: A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Cytomegalovirus(CMV) remains a critical complication after solid-organ transplantation. The CMV antigenemia(AG) test is useful for monitoring CMV infection. Although the AG-positivity rate in CMV gastroenteritis is known to be low at onset, almost all cases become positive during the disease course. We treated a patient with transverse colon perforation due to AG-negative CMV gastroenteritis, following a living donor liver transplantation(LDLT).CASE SUMMARY The patient was a 52-year-old woman with decompensated liver cirrhosis as a result of autoimmune hepatitis who underwent a blood-type compatible LDLT with her second son as the donor. On day 20 after surgery, upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy(GE) revealed multiple gastric ulcers and transverse colon ulcers. The biopsy tissue immunostaining confirmed a diagnosis of CMV gastroenteritis. On day 28 after surgery, an abdominal computed tomography revealed transverse colon perforation, and simple lavage and drainage were performed along with an urgent ileostomy. Although the repeated remission and aggravation of CMV gastroenteritis and acute cellular rejection made the control of immunosuppression difficult, the upper GE eventually revealed an improvement in the gastric ulcers, and the biopsy samples were negative for CMV. The CMV-AG test remained negative, therefore, we had to evaluate the status of the CMV infection on the basis of the clinical symptoms and *** This case report suggests a monitoring method that could be useful for AGnegative CMV gastroenteritis after a solid-organ transplantation.
