Textile dyeing industry an environmental hazard

Color is the main attraction of any fabric. No matter how excellent its constitution, if unsuitably colored it is bound to be a failure as a commercial fabric. Manufacture and use of synthetic dyes for fabric dyeing has therefore become a massive industry today. in fact the art of applying color to fabric has been known to mankind since 3500 BC. WH Perkins in 1856 discovered the use of synthetic dyes. Synthetic dyes have provided a wide range of colorfast, bright hues. However their toxic nature has become a cause of grave concern to environmentalists. Use of synthetic dyes has an adverse effect on all forms of life. Presence of sulphur, naphthol, vat dyes, nitrates, acetic acid, soaps, enzymes chromium compounds and heavy metals like copper, arsenic, lead, cad- mium, mercury, nickel, and cobalt and certain auxiliary chemicals all collectively make the textile effluent highly toxic. Other harmful chemicals present in the water may be formaldehyde based dye fixing agents, chlorinated stain removers, hydro carbon based softeners, non bio degradable dyeing chemicals. These organic materials react with many disinfectants especially chlorine and form by products (DBP’S) that are often carcinogenic and therefore undesirable. Many of these show allergic reactions. The colloidal matter present along with colors and oily scum increases the turbidity, gives the water a bad appearance and foul smell and prevents the penetration of sunlight necessary for the process of photosynthesis. This in turn interferes with the Oxygen transfer mechanism at air water interface which in turn interferes with marine life and self purification process of water. This effluent if allowed to flow in the fields’ clogs the pores of the soil resulting in loss of soil productivity. if allowed to flow in drains and rivers it effects the quality of drinking water in hand pumps making it unfit for human consumption. it is important to remove these pollutants from the waste waters before their final disp

Adsorption of yellow dye: Acid yellow RR from its aqueous solution using two different samples of activated carbon by static batch method

Removal of dye Acid Yellow RR, using two different samples of activated carbon by static batch method was studied. Experimental data on optical density of blank solutions of different concentrations ranging from 10 to 100 mg/L and optical density of solutions after adsorption on activated carbon samples were taken and analyzed. Calibration curves were plotted and the amount of dye qe adsorbed was calculated. The data was fitted to Polynomial, Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms for two different carbon samples and different concentration and pH values. Constants were calculated from the slope and intercept values of the isotherms. Coefficient of correlation R2 and Standard Deviation SD were also noted. The data fitted well to the isotherms. Carbon sample C1 showed higher potential to adsorb the yellow dye. Adsorption was higher at lower concentrations of the solution. Carbon sample C2 showed better adsorption in acidic pH as com- pared to in alkaline pH. From the analysis of the data it is shown that C2 sample has a good capacity to remove the textile dye from the residue water although sample C1 was still better.

Location information plays an important role in most of the applications in Wireless Sensor Network(WSN).Recently,many localization techniques have been proposed,while most of these deals with two Dimensional ***,in Three Dimensional applications the task is complex and there are large variations in the altitude *** these 3D environments,the sensors are placed in mountains for tracking and deployed in air for monitoring pollution *** such applications,2D localization models are not *** to this,the design of 3D localization systems in WSNs faces new *** this paper,in order to find unknown nodes in Three-Dimensional environment,only single anchor node is *** the simulation-based environment,the nodes with unknown locations are moving at middle&lower layers whereas the top layer is equipped with single anchor node.A novel soft computing technique namely Adaptive Plant Propagation Algorithm(APPA)is introduced to obtain the optimized locations of these mobile *** target nodes are heterogeneous and deployed in an anisotropic environment having an irregularity(Degree of irregularity(DOi))value set to *** simulation results present that proposed APPAalgorithm outperforms as tested among other meta-heuristic optimization techniques in terms of localization error,computational time,and the located sensor nodes.

非复合分布模型可用于分析交通流量达1 800 vph的车辆时间间隔,但并不适用于更高交通流量的情况.为解决此类问题,提出了一些基于复合分布的模型.但这类模型的参数标定过程复杂,在一定程度上限制了其应用.针对流量介于1 900 vph到4 100 vph的车辆时间间隔,本文分别采用5种复合分布模型进行分析,即指数-极值分布(EEV)、对数正态-极值分布(LEV)、威布尔-极值分布(WEV)、威布尔-对数正态分布(WLN)和指数-对数正态分布(ELN).然后采用两种方法进行拟合优度检验——基于累计函数分布检验(CDF)和双样本(Cramer-von Mises)&K样本(Anderson-Darling)检验.结果表明,在分析车辆时间间隔方面,威布尔-极值分布(WEV)是最佳的复合分布模型,在Cramer-von Mises检验和K样本Anderson-Darling检验中均具有良好的一致性.

BACKGROUND Laparotomy remains one of the commonest emergency surgical *** prognostic evaluation would aid in selecting the high-risk patients for an aggressive treatment. Awareness about risks could potentially contribute to the quality of perioperative care and optimum utilization of resources. Portsmouth modification of Physiological and operative severity for the enumeration of mortality and morbidity(P-POSSUM) and the acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ(APACHE-Ⅱ) have been the most widely used scoring systems for emergency laparotomies. it is always better to have a single scoring system to predict outcomes and audit healthcare *** To compare the ability of APACHE-Ⅱ and P-POSSUM to predict postoperative morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing emergency *** All patients undergoing emergency laparotomy at the Tata Main Hospital,Jamshedpur between December 2013 and November 2014 were included in the study. in this observational study, P-POSSUM and APACHE-Ⅱ scoring were done, and the outcome analysis evaluated with mortality being the primary *** For P-POSSUM, at a cut off value of 63 to predict mortality using receiver operating characteristics curve analysis, the area under the curve was 0.989; and for APACHE-Ⅱ, at the cut off value of 24, the area under the curve was *** Because the ability of APACHE-Ⅱ to predict mortality was similar to P-POSSUM and APACHE-Ⅱ does not need scoring for intra-operative findings and histopathology reports, APACHE-Ⅱ can be used pre-operatively to assess the risk in patients undergoing emergency laparotomy. 车辆间隙定义为到达路段某特定点相邻车辆的间隔.本文研究了非双车道异质混合交通情形下的车辆间隙模型,此类交通流在诸如印度等一些发展中国家普遍存在.其特征是具有大量'零间隙'的情况,这主要由给定车道宽度下车辆同时到达的情形所致.其另一特征是较大车头时距带来的尾区数据量偏大.然而,一些学者运用轻尾分布对车辆间隙进行建模并得到了满意的结果.原因主要是:(1)尾区数据融入单个面元;(2)分布拟合时卡方检验等方法具有一定的局限性.此外,一些学者还建议对同一范围的交通流数据采用其他一些分布进行拟合,产生了分布选择的分歧.同时,可表征任何分布拟合状况的面元在间隙模型中的作用逐渐减小.因此,本文就以上问题对现有间隙模型的研究进行进一步和标准化的分析.本文还分析了两种具有较好尾模型特性的广义Pareto分布(GP)、广义极值分布(GEV)、其他几种传统分布对550 vph至4 100 vph流量范围内车辆间隙建模,且使用基于区域和基于距离检验的方法进行分布拟合检验.结果表明,无论使用哪种检验方法,广义Pareto分布对于大于1 500 vph流量的间隙数据在整体和尾区均能得到较好的拟合效果.广义极值分布在使用基于区域的检验方法时对于大于1 500 vph流量的间隙数据产生较好的拟合效果.

High Performance Polymer Light-Emitting Devices

in order to improve the performance of polymer light-emitting devices, driving voltages, current efficiency, luminance and power efficiency of different cathode metals such as Ca/Al, CsF/Al, LiF/Al and LiF/Ca/Ag were compared. The results show that cathode metals CsF/Al contain the highest current efficiency, maximum luminance and power efficiency. Therefore, we can choose the CsF/Al to be the cathode for improving the performance of polymer light-emitting devices.
