Is there a difference between 19G core biopsy needle and 22G core biopsy needle in diagnosing the correct etiology?——A meta-analysis and systematic review

AIM To compare the accuracy of endoscopic ultra-sonography(EUS) 19 G core biopsies and 22 G core biopsies in diagnosing the correct etiology for a solid *** Articles were searched in Medline, Pub Med, and Ovid journals. Pooling was conducted by both fixed and random effects models. RESULTS Initial search identified 4460 reference articles for 19 G and 22 G, of these 670 relevant articles were selected and reviewed. Data was extracted from 6 studies for 19G(n = 289) and 16 studies for 22G(n = 592) which met the inclusion criteria. EUS 19 G core biopsies had a pooled sensitivity of 91.6%(95%CI: 87.1-95.0) and pooled specificity of 95.9%(95%CI: 88.6-99.2), whereas EUS 22 G had a pooled sensitivity of 83.3%(95%CI: 79.7-86.6) and pooled specificity of 64.3%(95%CI: 54.7-73.1). The positive likelihood ratio of EUS 19 G core biopsies was 9.08(95%CI: 1.12-73.66) and EUS 22 G core biopsies was 1.99(95%CI: 1.09-3.66).The negative likelihood ratio of EUS 19 G core biopsies was 0.12(95%CI: 0.07-0.24) and EUS 22 G core biopsies was 0.25(95%CI: 0.14-0.41). The diagnostic odds ratio was 84.74(95%CI: 18.31-392.26) for 19 G core biopsies and 10.55(95% CI: 3.29-33.87) for 22 G needles. CONCLUSION EUS 19 G core biopsies have an excellent diagnostic value and seem to be better than EUS 22 G biopsies in detecting the correct etiology for a solid mass.

Fuzzy least brain storm optimization and entropy-based Euclidean distance for multimodal vein-based recognition system

Nowadays, the vein based recognition system becomes an emerging and facilitating biometric technology in the recognition system. Vein recognition exploits the different modalities such as finger, palm and hand image for the person identification. In this work, the fuzzy least brain storm optimization and Euclidean distance(EED) are proposed for the vein based recognition system. Initially, the input image is fed into the region of interest(ROI) extraction which obtains the appropriate image for the subsequent step. Then, features or vein pattern is extracted by the image enlightening, circular averaging filter and holoentropy based thresholding. After the features are obtained, the entropy based Euclidean distance is proposed to fuse the features by the score level fusion with the weight score value. Finally, the optimal matching score is computed iteratively by the newly developed fuzzy least brain storm optimization(FLBSO) algorithm. The novel algorithm is developed by the least mean square(LMS) algorithm and fuzzy brain storm optimization(FBSO). Thus, the experimental results are evaluated and the performance is compared with the existing systems using false acceptance rate(FAR), false rejection rate(FRR) and accuracy. The performance outcome of the proposed algorithm attains the higher accuracy of 89.9% which ensures the better recognition rate.

Structural-Nanomechanical Property Correlation of Shallow Water Shrimp （Pandalus platyceros） Exoskeleton at Elevated Temperature

This investigation reports the nanomechanical properties of shallow water shrimp exoskeleton at temperatures ranging from 30 ℃ to 80 ℃ measured using nanoindentation experiments. Scanning Electron Microscopy （SEM） measurements suggest that the shrimp exoskeleton has the Bouligand structure in its layers, a key characteristic of the crustaceans. The thickness of the layers and packing density are found to be different from that of lobsters and crabs reported earlier in the literature. Mechanical properties at high temperatures are determined using micro materials nanoindentation test set up combined with the hot stage. The properties measured during nanoindentation test are corrected for the creep and thermal drift during the experiments. The reduced modulus values are found to be around 28 GPa at 30 ℃ that reduces to approximately 24 GPa at 80 ℃. The hardness values also decrease from 1.6 GPa at 30 ℃ to around 1.2 GPa at 80 ℃. The indentation size effect is found to be absent at all temperatures. Creep mechanisms of polymers like materials and its temperature dependence are discussed to give more insight into the deformation mechanism.

Modeling the effect of time delay in implementation of mitigation policies on the control of atmospheric greenhouse gases

Mitigation of the enhanced greenhouse gas(GHG)concentrations in the Earth's atmosphere is imperative to meet the climate change mitigation *** of many countries are developing and implementing various mitigation strategies to reduce their GHG ***,a time delay between the formulation and implementation of these mitigation policies can affect their effectiveness in controlling greenhouse gas levels in the *** work presents a nonlinear mathematical model to investigate the effect of application of mitigation strategies and the delay involved in their implementation over the reduction of atmospheric greenhouse *** model formulation,it is assumed that the mitigation strategies work two-fold;first they reduce the GHG emission rate from the anthropogenic source and second they increase the removal rate of greenhouse gas from the atmosphere.A comprehensive stability analysis of the proposed model system is made to examine its long-term *** model analysis shows that an increase in the implementation rate of mitigation strategies and their efficiencies to cut down the GHG emission rate from point sources and increase the GHG uptake rate lead to reduction in equilibrium GHG *** is found that a long delay in the execution of mitigation policies can destabilize the system dynamics and leads to the generation of periodic *** expression for the threshold value of the delay parameter at which periodic oscillations arise via Hopf-bifurcation is *** stability and direction of bifurcating periodic solutions are discussed.A sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the effect of changes in key parameters over system dynamics.

Influence of Metal Oxides on the Arc Erosion Behaviour of Silver Metal Oxides Electrical Contact Materials

In the present work investigations have been made to see the role of metal oxides on the performance of the silver metal oxides electrical contact materials. Silver metal oxide materials of three different compositions Ag-10CdO, Ag-7.6SnO2-2.3ln2O3 and Ag-10ZnO were prepared by internal oxidation process under identical processing conditions. These materials were tested for electrical conductivity, hardness, and erosion loss. Performing an accelerated test on the actual contactor assessed the electrical performance, involving erosion loss and temperature rise of the processed materials. The arc-eroded surface was characterized under scanning electron microscope. The study of the eroded surfaces of contacts indicates that the thermal stability of metal oxides depends on nature of silver-metal oxide interface and their mode of erosion. An attempt is made to correlate the surface features of the eroded contacts with the thermal stability of metal oxides.

Mutations are known to play a critical role in how a species *** a recent article that appeared in the journal Cell,Yurkovetskiy et al.1 reported the structural and functional properties of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein variant D614G that explains the basis of its increased *** observed that the mutant(D614G)was 4 to 9-fold more infectious than the wild type(D614),and the increased infectivity was not limited to human angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2).1 The cryo-EM structure suggested that D614G mutation weakens the stability of the homotrimer that shifts protein conformation towards an ACE2-binding fusion-competent state.1 The authors additionally showed that the D614G variant is neutralized by monoclonal antibodies targeting the spike protein receptor-binding domain(RBD).

Handmade cloning （HMC） is the most awaited, simple and micromanipulator-ffee version of somatic cell nuclear transfer （SCNT）. The requirement of expensive micromanipulators and skilled expertise is eliminated in this technique, proving it as a major revolution in the field of embryology. During the past years, many modifications have been incorporated in this technique to boost its efficiency. This alternative approach to micromanipulator based traditional cloning O-C） works wonder in generating comparable or even higher birth rates in addition to declining costs drastically and enabling cryopreservation. This technique is not only applicable to intraspecies nuclear transfer but also to interspecies nuclear transfer （iSCNT） thus permitting conservation of endangered species. It also offers unique possibilities for automation of SCNT which aims at production of transgenic animals that can cure certain human diseases by producing therapeutics hence, providing a healthier future for the wellbeing of humans. The present review aims at highlighting certain aspects of HMC including recent advancements in procedure and factors involved in elevating its efficiency besides covering the potentials and pitfalls of this technique
