Optical coherence tomography characteristics of responses to intravitreal bevacizumab in idiopathic choroidal neovascularization

AIM： To investigate factors associated with responses to intravitreal bevacizumab （IVB） in naive idiopathic choroidal neovascularization （iCNV） by high domain optical coherence tomography （OCT）. METHODS： We retrospectively reviewed clinical data of 40 eyes of iCNV patients who received a single or multiple IVB on an as-needed basis （1.25 mg/0.05 mL）. One month after the first injection, subretinal fluid （SRF） volume was evaluated and the eyes were divided into 3 groups based on responses to IVB. Good, moderate, and poor responses were defined as 61%-99%, 30%-60%, and 〈30% resolution of SRF on OCT after IVB in iCNV, respectively. OCT findings were analyzed to find factors associated with difference in response levels. Comparisons were made using Wilcoxon＇s matched- pairs signed-rank test, the Mann-Whitney U test for means with continuous data and Fisher＇s exact test for categorical data. RESULTS： The mean number of IVB was 1.28±1.50 and mean follow up time was 3.60±1.20mo. At postoperative 1too, there were 8 （20%） eyes in good response, 20 （50%） in moderate response and 12 （30%） eyes in poor response group and at last visit there were 28 good responders （70%）, 8 （20%） moderate responders and 4 （10%） poor responders. Statistically significant difference was detected between good responders and non good responders in choroidal neovessels thickness （P=0.029）, SRF height （P=0.049） and SRF volume （P=0.031） at post treatment 1 mo. CONCLUSION： OCT is a valuable diagnostic tool. Decrease in choroidal neovessels thickness, SRF height and volume predicts favorable response of iCNV to IVB therapy.

Luminal/extracellular domains of chimeric CI-M6PR-C proteins interfere with their retrograde endosome-to-TGN trafficking in the transient expression system

The membrane trafficking of cation-independent mannose 6-phosphate receptor（CI-M6PR） between the transGolgi network（TGN） and endosomal compartments is not only critical for maintaining lysosomal function but also a well-known event for understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms in retrograde endosome-to-TGN *** it has been well established in literature that the C-terminus of bovine CI-M6PR determines its retrograde trafficking,it remains unclear whether the luminal domain of the protein plays a role on these sorting *** this study,we found that partial deletion of luminal domain of human CI-M6PR mistargeted the mutant protein to nonTGN ***,replacing the luminal domain of both bovine and human CI-M6PR with that from irrelevant membrane proteins such as CD8 or Tac also altered the TGN targeting of the chimeric *** the other hand,only short sequence from HA fused with the transmembrane domain and C-terminus of the receptor,HA-hCIM6PR-tail,resulted in its preferential targeting to TGN as for the full length receptor,strongly suggesting that sorting of the receptor may be influenced by luminal ***,using this luminal truncated form of HA-hCIM6 PR as a model cargo,we found that the trafficking of the chimeric protein was regulated by the retromer complex through interacting with *** conclusion,our study strongly suggested that the disrupted luminal domain from hCI-M6PR or other irrelevant membrane proteins interfere with the process of membrane trafficking and TGN targeting of CI-M6PR.

IEEE 802.15.4 protocol has attracted much attention in research and industrial communities as candidate technology for wireless body area sensor networks（WBASNs）.IEEE 802.15.4 supports the exclusive use of a wireless channel through guaranteed time slot（GTS）.However,on one hand,bandwidth underutilization rate may be lower because of the variance between the guaranteed bandwidth and the arrival *** the other hand,the waiting time for transmitting emergency notification is getting longer when the GTSs assigned to the nodes increase in *** solve these problems,in this article,a new scheme is proposed to reduce transmission delay for the alarm notification in emergent *** results are presented to validate the efficiency of the proposed scheme by comparing it with the medium access control（MAC） protocol of IEEE 802.15.4.

Holocene activity evidence on the southeast boundary fault of Heqing basin, middle segment of Heqing-Eryuan fault zone, West Yunnan Province, China

The Heqing-Eryuan fault is an important part of the active fault system in the Northwestern Yunnan Province, China. Thus, the study on the nature, characteristics and activity history of this fault can provide not only the basis for seismic safety and engineering evaluation, but also the important information for the characteristics, history and patterns of the structural deformation of the southeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau. Trench and faulted landforms investigations could provide effective paleoseismic methods to obtain the recent parameters of active faults. Using these methods, this study makes some breakthroughs on the recent activity of southeast boundary fault of the Heqing basin, middle segment of Heqing-Eryuan fault zone. Results indicate that the average vertical slip rate and left-lateral slip rate of the segment are about 0.28 mm/a and 1.8o mm/a respectively since the Late Pleistocene. The trench near the Beixi Village at the .outhea.t houndnrv fault of the lqaaing basinreveals that there have been at least three paleoearthquake events during the Holocene （8 ka BP）. The vertical displacement and sinistral strike-slip distance of a single paleoearthquake are ~20 cm and -1.2 m, respectively. The estimated paleoearthquake magnitudes with Ms7.o, and the recurrence interval at 2-5 ka, as well as the latest activity time during 800- 290 ca1 yr BP, are of great significance for preventing and mitigating regional earthquake disasters.

Clinical research of EX-PRESS drainage device and modified trabeculectomy combined with intravitreal conbercept treatment for neovascular glaucoma

AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of modified trabeculectomy(experimental group) and implantation of EX-PRESS drainage device(control group),combined with intravitreal conbercept injection for neovascular glaucoma(NVG).METHODS:Totally 30 patients with NVG were selected from June 2014 to June 2017,and randomly divided into experimental group and control *** patients were underwent intravitreal conbercept(0.5 mg/0.05 mL) treatment before *** trabeculectomy was performed in MT group,while EX-PRESS drainage device implantation was performed in EX *** success rates,best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),intraocular pressure(IOP),filtering bleb and complications were observed and ***:The differences of success rate,BCVA and filtering bleb were not statistically significant 12mo after the surgery(P>0.05),however,the difference of IOP at 1d,1wk,1,3,and 6mo after surgery was statistically significant(F_(time)=390.64,P_(time)0.05),while the results at other time point indicate statistical differences(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The modified trabeculectomy and the implantation of EX-PRESS drainage device have clinical application value in reducing IOP and postoperative complications of refractory NVG.

Modified Sijunzi Granules Exhibit Hemostatic Effect by Activating Akt and Erk Signal Pathways via Regulating 5-HT and Its Receptors Levels

Objective:To investigate the hemostatic effect of modified Sijunzi Granules(MSG)in primary immune thrombocytopenia(ITP)zebrafish model and explore the potential ***:AB strain wild type zebrafish were treated with simvastatin(6μmol/L)for 24 h to establish the hemorrhage model(model control group).The zebrafish were treated with MSG at different doses(55.6,167,and 500μg/mL),*** hemostatic effect was assessed by examining the intestinal bleeding and hemostatic rate.5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)content was determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)*** expressions of5-HT2aR,5-HT2bR,and SERT genes were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR).The protein expressions of protein kinase B(Akt),p-Akt,extracellular regulated protein kinases(Erk),and p-Erk were examined using Western blot ***:The intestinal bleeding rate was 37%,40%,and 80%in the55.6,167,and 500μg/mL dose of MSG,respectively,in which 55.6 and 167μg/mL MSG dose groups were associated with significantly decreased intestinal bleeding rate when compared with the model control group(70%,P<0.05).Significantly higher hemostatic rates were also observed in the 55.6μg/mL(54%)and 167μg/mL(52%)MSG dose groups(P<0.05).MSG increased the 5-HT content and mRNA expression levels of 5-HT2aR,5-HT2bR,and SERT(P<0.05).In addition,caspase3/7 activity was inhibited(P<0.05).Significant increase in p-Akt and p-Erk was also detected after treatment with MSG(P<0.05).Conclusions:MSG could reduce the incidence and severity of intestinal bleeding in zebrafish by activating MAPK/Erk and PI3K/Akt signal pathways through regulating the levels of 5-HT and its receptors,which may provide evidence for the treatment of ITP.

Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Properties of Two New Lanthanide Coordination Polymers Constructed from Benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic Acid

Two lanthanide coordination polymers, {[Ln（Hbidc）（bidc）（H2 O）3]·3 H2 O}n（H3 bidc = benzimidazole-5,6-dicarboxylic acid, Ln = Eu（1）, Sm（2）） have been hydrothermally synthesized. Both compounds are isostructure and crystallize in the P21/c space group of monoclinic system. Complex 1: a = 11.087（6）, b = 8.972（5）, c = 23.064（13） ?, b = 95.027（5）o, V = 2285.4（2） ?3, Z = 4, Mr = 669.35, Dc = 1.945 g/cm3, F（000） = 1328, S = 1.044, μ = 2.827 mm-1, R = 0.0393 and wR = 0.0801 for 3458 observed reflections（I > 2s（I））. Complex 2: a = 11.087（6）, b = 8.972（5）, c = 23.064（13） ?, b = 95.027（5）°, V = 2285.4（2） ?3, Z = 4, Mr = 667.74, Dc = 1.941 g/cm3, F（000） = 1324, S = 1.071, μ = 2.652 mm-1, R = 0.0329 and wR = 0.0809 for 3744 observed reflections（I > 2s（I））. Complexes 1 and 2 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses and further characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analyses（TGA）. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that complexes 1 and 2 are the isostructural 1 D zigzag chain structures, which are further extended into a 3 D supramolecular structure through hydrogen bonds and p···p stacking interactions. Furthermore, the thermal stability, UV-vis absorption spectra and fluorescent properties of complexes 1 and 2 have been investigated and discussed in detail.

With the booming development of fifth-generation network technology and Internet of Things,the number of end-user devices(EDs)and diverse applications is surging,resulting in massive data generated at the edge of *** process these data eficiently,the innovative mobile edge computing(MEC)framework has emerged to guarantee low latency and enable eficient computing close to the user ***,federated learning(FL)has demonstrated its empirical success in edge computing due to its privacy-preserving ***,it becomes a promising solution for analyzing and processing distributed data on EDs in various machine learning tasks,which are the major workloads in ***,EDs are typically powered by batteries with limited capacity,which brings challenges when performing energy-intensive FL *** address these challenges,many strategies have been proposed to save energy in *** the absence of a survey that thoroughly summarizes and classifies these strategies,in this paper,we provide a comprehensive survey of recent advances in energy-efficient strategies for FL in ***,we first introduce the system model and energy consumption models in FL,in terms of computation and *** we analyze the challenges regarding improving energy efficiency and summarize the energy-efficient strategies from three perspectives:learning-based,resource allocation,and client *** conduct a detailed analysis of these strategies,comparing their advantages and ***,we visually illustrate the impact of these strategies on the performance of FL by showcasing experimental ***,several potential future research directions for energy-efficient FL are discussed.
