Effectiveness of Fuzzy Overlay Function for Multi-Criteria spatial Modeling—A Case study on Preparation of Land Resources Map for Mawsynram Block of East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya, India

Multi-criteria spatial modeling is one of the important components of spatial decision support system (sDss). Multi-criteria spatial modeling often requires a common scale of values for diverse and dissimilar inputs to create an integrated analysis. Weighted overlay function is most commonly used for site suitability analysis which identifies the most preferred locations for a specific phenomenon. However, weighted overlay function gives inconsistent and erroneous results for highly dissimilar inputs as it assumes that most favorable factors result in the higher values of raster, while identifying the best sites. This paper conveys the effectiveness of fuzzy overlay function for multi-criteria spatial modeling. It is based on the principle of fuzzy logic theory which defines membership using Gaussian function on each of the input rasters instead of giving individual rank to them like in weighted overlay function. A case study on preparation of land resources map for Mawsynram block of East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya, India is presented here. It was observed that fuzzy overlay function has given more satisfactory output in terms of site suitability while comparing with the result of weighted overlay function.

Mapping croplands,including fallow areas,are an important measure to determine the quantity of food that is produced,where they are produced,and when they are produced(***).Furthermore,croplands are known as water guzzlers by consuming anywhere between 70%and 90%of all human water use *** these facts and the increase in global population to nearly 10 billion by the year 2050,the need for routine,rapid,and automated cropland mapping year-after-year and/or season-after-season is of great *** overarching goal of this study was to generate standard and routine cropland products,year-after-year,over very large areas through the use of two novel methods:(a)quantitative spectral matching techniques(QsMTs)applied at continental level and(b)rule-based Automated Cropland Classification Algorithm(ACCA)with the ability to hind-cast,now-cast,and *** was chosen for the study given its extensive croplands,rich history of agriculture,and yet nonexistent routine yearly generated cropland products using multi-temporal remote *** research produced three distinct cropland products using Moderate Resolution Imaging spectroradiometer(MODIs)250-m normalized difference vegetation index 16-day composite time-series data for 16 years:2000 through *** products consisted of:(1)cropland extent/areas versus cropland fallow areas,(2)irrigated versus rainfed croplands,and(3)cropping intensities:single,double,and continuous *** accurate reference cropland product(RCP)for the year 2014(RCP2014)produced using QsMT was used as a knowledge base to train and develop the ACCA algorithm that was then applied to the MODIs time-series data for the years 2000–2015.A comparison between the ACCA-derived cropland products(ACPs)for the year 2014(ACP2014)versus RCP2014 provided an overall agreement of 89.4%(kappa=0.814)with six classes:(a)producer’s accuracies varying between 72%and 90%and(b)user’s accuracies varying between 79%and 90%.ACPs

AIM To evaluate factors associated with Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) and outcomes of CDI in the myelodysplastic syndrome(MDs) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) *** After IRB approval,all MDs/AML patients hospitalized at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center between August 2011 and December 2013 were *** charts were reviewed for demographics,clinical information,development of CDI,complications of CDI,and *** with CDI,defined as having a positive stool PCR done for clinical suspicion of CDI,were compared to those without CDI in order to identify predictors of disease.A t-test was used for comparison of continuous variables and chisquare or Fisher's exact tests were used for categorical variables,as *** Two hundred and twenty-three patients (60.1% male,mean age 61.3 years,13% MDs,87% AML) had 594 unique hospitalizations during the study *** patients (15.2%) were diagnosed with *** significantly associated with CDI included lower albumin at time of hospitalization (P sis of CDI (P sed chemotherapy (P = 0.015),total days of neutropenia (P = 0.014),and total days of hospitalization (P = 0.005).Gender (P = 0.10),age (P = 0.77),proton-pump inhibitor use (P = 0.73),receipt of antibiotics (P = 0.66),and receipt of DNA hypomethylating agent-based chemotherapy (P = 0.92) were not significantly associated with *** CDI is common in the MDs/AML *** significantly associated with CDI in this population include low albumin,prior CDI,use of cytarabine-based chemotherapy,and prolonged *** this study,we have identified a subset of patients in which prophylaxis studies could be targeted.

Pozzolans from the Tombel Plain,Bamileke Plateau,and Noun Plain,3 monogenetic volcanic fields in the central part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line(the Tombel Plain,Bamileke Plateau,and Noun Plain),were explored in order to constrain their petrology and make some predictions on their *** rocks in this study include alkaline and subalkaline basalts,trachybasalts,and *** of these rocks present an overall composition that overlaps with primitive mantle,suggesting rapid ascent of magmas,limited crustal contamination and crystal fractionation of olivine,clinopyroxene,and *** pozzolans present enrichment of LREE relative to HREE and high chondrite normalized ratios of La/Yb and Tb/*** between 7 and 20 and>1.9 respectively,similar to those of Ocean Island *** other nearby volcanoes,partial melting in a dominantly garnet-bearing mantle zone can be *** mineralogy by X-ray diffraction revealed various mineral phases with dominantly plagioclase,augite,olivine,and Fe-Ti *** samples contains important amorphous phase up to 23,51,and 69 wt%in the Tombel Plain,Noun Plain,and Bamileke Plateau,*** elevated amount of amorphous phases together with the sum of siO2,Al2O3 and total Fe2O3(sAI=68.50-83.50>70 wt%)according to AsTM C618 standard and the sum of CaO,FeO,and MgO(CIM=14.5-30.52 wt%and 23.58-31.08 wt%)suggest interesting pozzolanicity character for the studied pozzolans.
