A novel control strategy of a variable-speed doubly-fed-induction-generator-based wind energy conversion system

This paper aims to address the issue of control of a variable-speed wind turbine based on doubly-fed induction generators. In this work, an effort is made to extract the maximum efficiency from a doubly-fed induction generator-based variable-speed wind turbine by controlling the rotor current. In the first step, a maximum power point tracking technique is used to extract the maximum power from the turbine. Then a stator-flux-oriented vector control strategy is employed to control the rotor-side current. Subsequently, a grid voltage vector-oriented control strategy is used to control the grid-side system of the grid-connected generator. Considering the nonlinearity and parameter uncertainty of the system, an active disturbance rejection controller with a sliding-mode-based extended-state observer is developed for the above-mentioned control strategies. Furthermore, the stability of the controller is tested and the performance of the controller is compared with the classical proportional-integral controller based on disturbance rejection, robustness and tracking capability in a highly non-linear wind speed variation scenario. Modelling, control and comparison are conducted in the MATLAB (R)/Simulink (R) environment. Finally, a real-time hardware set-up is presented using the dSPACE ds-1104 R&D processing board to validate the control scheme. From the result of the experiments, it is seen that the proposed controller takes 10-15 control cycles to settle to its steady-state values, depending on the control loop, whereas the conventional proportional-integral controller takes 60-75 control cycles. As a result, the settling time for the proposed control scheme is shorter than that of the proportional-integral controller. The behavior and dynamics of ionosphere are completely dependent on the solar activity. We have investigated the long term variability of ionospheric parameter foF2 with corresponding changes in the solar activity during the 23rd solar cycle. The variation of the critical frequency of ionospheric foF2 at Syowa Station Antarctica, (69°S, 39°E) is examined with four different solar activity indices characterizing the long term variability of solar activity wise Flare Index, relative sunspot number (Rz), solar flux F10.7 cm and CME occurrence index. We compared the dependency of foF2 and other solar activity indices on each other by using linear correlation investigation, and showed the qualitative similarity of the ionospheric foF2 with the solar indices. We notice that hysteresis of foF2 is lower for the growing branches of the solar cycle. The individual dissimilarity of critical frequency foF2 demonstrated the dependency on the solar cycle but this variation was different during the months, which depended on solar activity and polar ionospheric behavior. The peak to peak variation between monthly average of critical frequency foF2 and solar indices parameter is evidence for the absolute dependency for each other. The linear correlation between the solar indices and foF2 is very strong during the climbing and downward branches of the solar cycle. However the incline of their linear fits shows variations from index to index.

The importance of valuing environmental resources,especially in ecotourism sites,has become increasingly important over the last two *** is now considered as an important source of livelihood of local stakeholders in backward ***,the preservation of ecotourism sites through community participation seems very important to maintain continued flow of *** study aimed at recognizing the importance of community participation for the preservation of ecotourism *** this,this study executed a survey based on non-probability sampling in two ecotourism sites(Garpanchkot and Baranti)covering 100 respondents in Purulia District,West Bengal of *** central issue of this study was to assess the tendency of community participation for the conservation of ecotourism sites and find the optimum condition for offering participatory labour *** study showed that the participation of young people is high,and the majority of respondents are aware of the importance in protecting ecotourism *** respondents were too poor to offer money,the contingent valuation method(CVM)was used to elicit their willingness to pay(WTP)participatory labour time for the conservation of ecotourism ***’age,income,education level,caste,and their perceived environmental quality had significant relationship with their WTP participatory labour time by applying the ordinary least square(OLS)*** was found that the mean WTP participatory labour time of each respondent in a month is approximately 3.64 *** significance of this study is that community participation can improve the sense of belonging,trust,and credibility of ecotourism sites,making them more appreciative of the value and protection of these sites.

The seismic behavior of a partially filled rigid rectangular liquid tank is investigated under short-and longduration ground motions.A finite element model is developed to analyze the liquid domain by using four-noded quadrilateral *** competency of the model is verified with the available *** studies are conducted for the dynamic parameters of the base-isolated tank,using a lead rubber bearing to evaluate the optimum damping and time period of the *** application of base isolation has reduced the total and impulsive hydrodynamic components of pressure by 80 to 90 percent,and base shear by 15 to 95 percent,depending upon the frequency content and duration of the considered *** sloshing amplitude of the base-isolated tank is reduced by 18 to 94 percent for most of the short-duration earthquakes,while it is increased by 17 to 60 percent for the majority of the long-duration ***,resonance studies are carried out through a long-duration harmonic excitation to obtain the dynamic behavior of non-isolated and isolated tanks,using a nonlinear sloshing *** seismic responses of the base-isolated tank are obtained as higher when the excitation frequency matches the fundamental sloshing frequency rather than the isolator frequency.

Objective:To evaluate the antimalarial activity of noscapine against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 strain(Pf3D7),its clinical isolate(Pf140/SS),and Plasmodium berghei ANKA(PbA).Methods:Using ring-stage survival assay,phenotypic assessments,and SYBR-green-based fluorescence assay,the antimalarial activities of noscapine were assessed compared with dihydroartemisinin(DHA)in in vivo and in vitro *** addition,hemolysis and cytotoxicity tests were carried out to evaluate its ***-PCR assay was also conducted to determine the effect of noscapine on papain-like cysteine protease Plasmodium falciparum falcipain-2(PfFP-2).Results:The antimalarial efficacy of noscapine against Pf3D7 and Pf140/SS was comparable to DHA,with IC50 values of(7.68±0.88)and(5.57±0.74)nM/mL,respectively,and>95%inhibition of PbA infected *** also showed a safe profile,as evidenced by low hemolysis and cytotoxicity even at high ***,PfFP-2 expression was significantly inhibited in both noscapine-treated Pf3D7 and Pf140/SS(P<0.01).Conclusions:Noscapine has antimalarial properties comparable to standard antimalarial DHA with better safety profiles,which may be further explored as a therapeutic candidate for the treatment of malaria.
